I quote... (in advance!) "each song has special memories for us..." What he really means... 'these songs will make most money for us.." Sorry Rog.. wont be tuning in.. Some of us have to go to work.... not just produce the same work we did yesterday... |

Have agree. Absolute Greatest is a total con, it isnt absolute greatest in my view anyway it doesnt have TYMD,HTF or Innuendo on for starters. If they had to do another compilation why not make it a double cd 40 tracks with some unreleased freddie stuff like Dog with a Bone, Robbery or Feeling Feelings. Who is the market for this product anyway? hardcore fans will have all the tracks, casual fans will probably already have GH1 and GH 2. I really liked the Paul Rogers collaboaration and tours, but absolute is like the Pepsi Ad, the 5ive debacle and the Robbie Williams mess, just rubbish. Get Justin Hawkins in and record some new material if you can't persuade PR to record again. |

if only Woolworths were still in business, they could have something for the 'bargain bin' come january.. |

Yes, I agree, those releases - if they're not imposed by the labels, who knows - are somewhat ridiculous. A different thing would have been a 'Queen Pearls' compilation, including those great songs which are not so well known, since they weren't so commercial (i.e., Don't try so hard, Was it all Worth it, The Prophet's song), or a 'Queen vaudeville' compilation (i.e. leroy brown, seaside rendezvous, dreamers' ball..) But I guess these are the kind of compilations we already make on our own autoradios and ipods, and that no-one would release. |

I've ordered the version that includes the book etc. Mainly for the ook actually. Every Queen album (not counting Flash Gordon) is present on this Absolute Greatest and that is a plus. (one might believe there's an absolute greatest on every album...) In my view it's unacceptable that the song Innuendo is not included. And how much These are the Days is suitable to be included (being Freddie's last video appearance) Innuendo is just an epic song that should have been on it. But a one-disc comilation has it's limited space of course... |

The way some of you folks come up with jokes is incredible. You ought to be stand-up comedians or something[/img] As far as Absolute Greatest Hits is concerned, if you look at it as a compilation not aimed at fans, but at new listeners, its not such a bad idea. Sure, we could argue that still there are some songs which should have been there and some that should not, but that is bound to happen. IMO previously unreleased and rare material deserve to be treated more exlusively, like on special editions of the corresponding studio albums. |

I've heard that argument so many times and it's valid but over the years it had gotten a little thin. I'm going to go a bit overboard here but... hasn't Greatest Hits sold like a GAZILLION copies all over the world? I'd say even all the Average Joe's (any casual music enthusiast who still buys Records instead of downloading the songs) will have either incarnation of Queen's Greatest Hits already. I don't see many teens that knew Queen from American Idol actually buying this. But -hey- Queen Productions may surprise us this time and there might be a market for this release. They surely will have the last laugh when Queen wins the "Fastest selling Album" award at the AMISH Music Awards. OR... They would still make a profit off die hard fans who just have to own every single Queen release... :) |

There's a whole new generation of kids tuning in to rock music every few years and to capture a part of that market, you either have to make new music, or keep re-releasing the oldies. I'm sure the appearance at American Idol and association with Adam Lambert is definitely going to make a lot of young peole curious and the Greatest Absolute is tailor made for them. I started listening to Bowie because of his collaboration with Queen, coupled with the fact that I lked his rendition of "Heroes" in the tribute concert. I started listening to Depech Mode because I liked Erasure at one point of time. Believe it or not, I had not heard any Dire Straits songs till I saw them (on DVD) perform with Sting at Live Aid. |

So many people have one or other of the hits albums and you can get The Platinum Collection with 51 tracks for €14.99. I don't know who is going to get this new collection. |

Christ, my table is wobbling. One of the legs must be too short. I'd wedge a copy of Absolute Greatest in there but I wouldn't want to admit having spent money on it. |

who else gave a little titter after Roger revealed he liked the X-Factor and reality tv shows? C-lebrity is now a distant memory.... |
The Real Wizard 06.11.2009 16:27 |
Note that he said he liked it for the entertainment value, not the artistic value. The song speaks about people without artistic merit becoming famous, not against entertainment for its own sake. |

Did he mention anything about a ladder I lent him in 1978? I wouldn't mention it except I need it to do my gutters. |

For all of us living outside the UK, there's no chance Bri or Rog will appear on our national morning-sofa on tv anytime soon, the interview can be seen on www.brianmay.com on his soapbox. Who is Adam Bolton anyways? ;D |
