Hi Folks,i recently replaced my Queen Rocks CD and i bought my new copy from Amazon. It was under the name of Queen Rocks Vol 1. Was there ever going to be a volume 2 or was it always going to be a single disc or do you know of any plans for Vol 2 ? What tracks do you think should be included on Rocks 2 ? Hope this is of some interest to you.
I think it was planned. I remember some messages in the fanzines back then + interviews from that era.
In 1991 there was a promo box called Queen Rocks which included more rock tracks, so i would say the songs that did feature on Queen Rocks - tracks on Rocks Box = Queen Rocks Vol. 2 :P
I'm pretty sure there are supposed to be more volumes, but there are a lot of projects that have been put on the back burner (I'm still waiting for Greatest Video Hits 3). I can't imagine what could make Rocks vol. 2 sell, since it seems a lot of us are getting annoyed with compilation albums - especially those that are essentially Greatest Hits repackaged!
I don't know what I'd want to see for the next installment, aside from a good product. But there's no guarantee that that will be the case. But even if it's something I wouldn't buy, it'd be nice if it at least existed.
I don't think a new compilation is a good idea. Most of us are tired of buying the same songs again and again. The only way to make a new album sell is to include new material, as we all know...
In many ways I can see all your points bout getting tired of buying complations again n again.. But my view is that if your a true Queen LIKE me.. Just go out n buy it :).. itss QUEEN.. plus thers a lot more to it than the cds themself.. more times they had a booklet u can buy with it n other material to do with its release.
At the moment I'm recollecting the Queen albums from first one all the way to todays release thats including live albums, compliations n solos.. I just love Queen n love everything they have done.. I always look forward to summit new that comes out :)
and anyhow.. if there was gonna be a Queen rocks 2..
I think it would include things like
Orge battle
Brighton rock
Lier
Death on 2 legs
Innuendo
Was it all worth it
Princes of the universe
White man
Great King rat
Sweet lady
Prophet song
Kagooshi ship
The hitman
Gimmie the prize
I go crazy (B side to radio ga ga)
Fight from the inside
The loser in the end
Tenment funster
Flick of the wrist
There are so many obvious choices left off Vol. 1 that I bet they really were thinking of doing a second one. But they should have just put the cream of the crop all on one disc. Instead, Vol. 1 ended up pretty uneven.

I can understand your enthusiasm and wanting to expand on your collection (lord knows I've been there). And it's your money, so spend it how you want. But the whole, "I'm a TRUE Queen fan" hierarchy crap is stupid (and it isn't just you doing it, there are a LOT of people who base their fandom on any band on the amount of merchandise they've acquired). Owning all of their CDs and DVDs and bootlegs and what-have-you does not make you a better Queen fan than someone who maybe only owns the 1992 US release of Greatest Hits. I mean, yeah, you probably know more songs and their histories than that hypothetical person, but so what? That person might like Queen just as much as you but probably isn't quite interested in the band biographies or catalog, etc.. I could also start a rant about poverty and economic recession, but I don't want to detract from the discussion at hand or put words in your mouth.
Just so I'm clear, I'm not accusing you of looking down on people necessarily, but the "TRUE Queen fan" thing really irks me and I felt compelled to say something.

I was looking forward to their reworked version of Tie Your Mother Down.
Oh well!

Ditto. I think they still have it in a drawer somewhere. Maybe in the Anthologies...
