This is what Brian says is gonna be revolutionary and take everyone by storm???
She has a belter of a voice, but that song belongs in the 80s. It's sounds like something Europe (the group... Final Countdown, not continent) might have came up with if it was put in charge of the Flash Soundtrack imo
I don't like the song, and I do not certanly like the way she sings or even her voice...on the other hand...what make us feel that is an 80's song.... is the synths, Imo.
I see myself enjoying a lot more music from Alicia Keys....I love Alicia!
Kerry Ellis does have a great voice. But my problem with this recording is that it is over-produced. For me there is waaaayyyyy too much going on instruments wise and I feel like Kerry is having to constantly scream to be heard over everything.

Yeah, that's what i thought. It's like Kerry singing a Queen late 80s song... it also reminded me of TCR a little too!!!
I personally like it a lot, but maybe that's because I can really identify with the lyrics. And yeah, it's a bit overdone, but a lot of showtunes are (Christmas Bells from RENT is a fantastic example).
She has a strong, strong voice and there's an occasional glimpse of an interesting tone. The problem is she's a broadway singer, and that broadway vibe kills it for me every time. You become hyper aware that You Are Being Entertained (TM) at the cost of a genuine, spontaneous connection. There's a market for this I'm sure, but it's not me. The video is kind of fake and cloying too. Fitting really.
