Prob should be in personal section I know, but blah!
What songs do you guys like to sing at karaoke, and what have you sang well and what have you murdered?
I'm no singer, but I've done the following reasonably well (imo)...
RADIO GA GA... found this suited my voice quite well surprisingly, as you can belt it out and get the crowd going with clapping. Really enjoyed doing this actually, place was mobbed and everyone joined in on the clapping. Sent shivers down MY spine!
BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY... if you sing it like Freddie did live, you can actually pull this off... as long as you concentrate on how you're gonna sing the next line tho... (mid section i had mates with me and we just had a laugh),
I WANT TO BREAK FREE... my favourite as it's actually quite easy to sing (imo)
CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE... I liked singing this one... until i realised it was the Dwight Y version and I messed up the order... doh!!!
MURDERED THE FOLLOWING...
Another One Bites The Dust... feck this is hard to sing. Still got nightmares. longest 3 mins of my life.
Don't Stop Me Now... why I even thought I could sing this is beyond me... prob cos I was drinking absinthe that night. Not surprising, even freddie struggled with this live... so I was a catastrophe.
Gives you an idea how difficult it must have been for Freddie to sing a full gig's worth of material and it's no wonder he struggled with throat nodules throughout his career. He truly was a gifted performer.
I love trying new Q songs, so I'd love to hear what you guys try and what you think you pulled off and what made people's ears bleed lol? looking for some inspiration as I;ve got a karaoke party midweek and as always I'll be asked to do my Freddie impersonation (30 years of age now so my movements are getting less and less Freddie and more fat Elvis he he)
I've sung Who Wants To Live Forever live on stage.
Also Radio Gaga,A Kind Of Magic,I Want To Break Free,Breakthru and Another One Bites The Dust.Unfortunately now i struggle with some of them as i no longer have the range to hit some of Freddie's high notes.
I don't do karaoke but if I did i would definitely sing drowse or good company or something like that. maybe death on two legs. and definitely radio ga ga.
I can't sing any Queen song very well. I don't mean in the sense of getting the notes - I just mean the tone of voice. I used to be able to do 'that high note' from Bohemian Rhapsody but after I turned 20 I found I could only get it by opening my throat right up which makes it totally the wrong sounding syllable. And who the cunt wants to hear THAT!

I never sing in public where people I know can hear me, but on holiday I have.
Somebody to Love in Corfu
Another One Bites The Dust in Lanzarotti
Crazy Little Thing Called Love in Turkey
Cool. Would you say that was the "A Word in Your Ear Mediterranean Tour" or something? hehe
I just spent a couple of weeks over there. Lovely. Loved Mykonos but by the time we got to Corfu we were very tired and we pretty much only browsed the Gift Shops... :S

Haven't you recorded some Beatles tracks on YT??? (Or am thinking of another QZer???)

Not exactly. The only thing I've ever put up is a cover of John Lennon's track "Love". The rest is always half-done - it's my brother who's supposed to sing, hehe.
It happend that I saw your Tour With "Bohemian Rhapsody" (or something like that) on youtube. You play guitar really good. It was Red Special, but not Antique Cherry. 3 Tone Sunburst? Your jump was more Townsend than May :). There also was a commentary about Star Wars, but my patience was finished by then :)
And... what was that annoying "dun dun dun...". A bass drum? Was it by plan?
Sorry, a bit off topic.
The guitar is actually in the Red colour - the only thing I've changed is that I spraypained the scratchplate white some years ago so that I could see the black switches easier while on stage.
At the time I didn't have any notions of playing Queen covers so I didn't think anyone would mind.
Cheers though!
