Yeah, Cobain's a joke. He's also mentioned sometimes in top guitarists lists. He eclipses the popularity of far more talented grunge musicians/bands like Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, etc. Anyway, Bruce Dickinson is my favourite metal singer next to Glenn Danzig. I don't know about the US but in India, Iron Maiden are considered something above gods. I saw them in concert last year and I can see why. He's probably the most charismatic metal frontman alive along with Halford. Since you love Elvis, you should really check out Glenn Danzig. I have a feeling you won't like his far more legendary band, The Misfits(horror punk). So I'm going to recommend his third band, Danzig(blues-metal) to you. Glenn's voice is like "Elvis meets Jim Morrison" and that's not a hyperbole. When he was in the Misfits, he was the only punk singer who actually "sang". Unlike any other punk vocalist, he crooned while others shouted or screamed. One of his nicknames was "Evil Elvis". This is for you: Danzig's "Mother" link

  I loved Misfits when I was younger, but I have never really listened to Danzig. I have a question, a while back I heard a song in my friends car that really reminded me of Misfits, it had some Johnny Cash references in the melody and lyrics, and watching this posted video with Danzig it sounded alot like Glenn Danzig. Do you know what song I'm thinking of? Would really help cause I'm driving myself crazy 'cause I really can't remember the lyrics or anything... Thanks!

It's a shame Freddie didn't cover any Jackie Wilson or Sam Cooke. :( Would've loved to hear Freddie sing "Reet Petite". Oh yeah, compare Queen's "You're So Square" to the horrible Led Zeppelin version: link Robert Plant was a great singer, but not in Freddie and some others' league.

The thing with Robert is that he's limited with the range. He has absolutely powerful voice, and he's the best in his field. But his range restricts him. When Freddie's voice more flexible.

Was it a punk or metal song? Glenn Danzig wrote a song called "Thirteen" for Johnny Cash which Cash recorded on one of his albums and subsequently Glenn himself recorded a version. But I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for. Off-topic, but I noticed you live in Kiruna. I lived in Sweden for 4 years and went to Kiruna once as well, staying for a month. It was in the middle of the year when the sun did not set for 10-12 consecutive days. Definitely one of the coolest experiences of my life!

Off-topic, Kiruna is a really cool place if you like nature, it's really a city in the middle of wilderness. In summer we have 50 days when the sun never sets and in winter the sun doesn't come over the horizon for like 40 days, pitch black all day and all night :D Well, the days when the sun never sets is better than the days we don't see it at all.
