Alright, I need some help regarding the veracity of this quote by Dave Mustaine about Freddie Mercury:
“I watched him, and I watched him die, and it was so painful for me, because I really loved Freddie Mercury, the way that he just truly went with his voice."
I'm pretty sure I saw this quote on Wikipedia long ago but it's no longer there since they subsequently removed all quotations from other musicians from the Queen article.
On the official Megadeth forum(which you have to pay to view, sorry; sad, I know), some of us were discussing classic rock bands that inspired(not influenced) Megadeth and many mentioned Queen. I popped in and quoted Dave Mustaine with that. A few are asking where that quote was taken from and it aroused my interest as well because when it was on Wikipedia it had a broken source. But I don't doubt that Dave loves Queen; he had Mack work on the sound engineering for the re-release of "Peace Sells, But Who's Buying?" after being impressed with the 5.1 A Night At the Opera DVD or something like that(can't remember). And it's well known that Marty Friedman's(no longer with Megadeth, sadly) favourite guitarist is Brian May. Guy's crazy though, he thinks Hendrix is over-rated and abandoned metal for J-Pop.
I have a hunch that the quote is from a VH1 programme...not sure which. I don't even know why I'm saying that but I vaguely remember some metal bands commenting on Queen on VH1 on a programme shown in India 3-4 years ago. Either the 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock(something like that) or VH1 Behind The Scenes: Queen. I frankly don't remember the titles, could even be VH1 Legends: Queen. If someone knows, please shed light on this matter.

Sure? I was thinking something like that. Guess my hunch was right. Thanks. Do you know where I can download it? Or at least find a clip of Dave Mustaine's appearance?
If there are any Deth-heads out here, I thought you guys would love to know that Dave's probably going to cover Led Zeppelin's "Achilles' Last Stand"(one of the most epic songs EVER) as he's always talking about wanting to cover that song and how much he loves Led Zep(he covered Zep's "Out on the Tiles" on United Abominations as a bonus track). One time a guy suggested Innuendo, Stargazer and a few classic metal epics. Dave said he doesn't think he's worthy of touching Innuendo(he quoted Innuendo in bold). Also mentioned some crap about how he only recently heard Innuendo thanks to Warrel Dane, the singer of Nevermore; and no, they didn't take their name from the Queen song. Of course, I was baffled even more when he further posted that he had only recently listened to Rainbow's first 3 albums for the first time and until then hadn't realized what the fuss about Dio was. Other than that, a few dumbasses suggested everything from Bohemian Rhapsody to Stairway to Heaven to Free Bird in his topic, but IMO none of those would fit Megadeth's style. Hell, I doubt they'd be able to pull of a convincing cover of Achilles' Last Stand either because Led Zeppelin were the greatest musical force on earth, even better than Queen. Hardly anyone pulls off Zeppelin satisfactorily. The only Zeppelin cover I like is Tool's No Quarter and that's because they put a very interesting twist on it.

I love Deth.
I thought their cover of Out On The Tiles was awesome. Megadeth has that Zeppelin groove in some of their songs, like Burnt Ice for example.
I would love to hear Megadeth cover Queen. Maybe Ogre Battle. I'm sure he wouldn't do Stone Cold Crazy since Metallica covered it and this might cause some trouble (among fans) XP
Stone Cold Crazy would've better suited them than 'Tallica. Speaking of Stone Cold Crazy, I remember pretty well that Dave was asked whether he would like to do a cover album like Slayer's punk album and Metallica's Garage Inc. on UltimateGuitar.com and he said that unlike Garage Inc., his choices would be generic; stuff you'd have already listened to if you're a metalhead and you'd expect him to like. He then said that he really liked Pantera's "Cemetery Gates" but didn't feel right covering a "junior" band. Towards the end he mentioned Stone Cold Crazy and how it's his favourite Metallica cover along with "Die Die My Darling"(awesome song, esp. the Misfits version). He told them that he would've covered the song had Metallica not done so already.
EDIT:
BTW, when I said "he would've covered the song", I meant "Die Die My Darling", not "Stone Cold Crazy". :P
