We all know the price of the CD releases and no doubt you were all as horrified as I was to discover the Deluxe CD price was £29.
I'm daft enough to collect vinyl (for reasons I won't go into - but lets face it, vinyl releases "look and feel" better and are more substantial than a poxy silver disc) and I've kinda begrudgingly paid on average £25 for the recent first-releases (milton keynes, sheffield 05, Montreal 81, cosmos rocks...), but I'm absolutely appalled at the cost of vinyl release for Absolute Greatest - it's listed at Recordshop.co.uk at a staggering £54!
To add insult to injury, it doesn't even have the 54 page book with it, and how they can justify stretching less than 2 albums worth of material over THREE records is just beyond me.
Unless this comes down somewhere to a more reasonable price (ie at least on a par with the other releases), my vinyl collection will be one short.
I suspect they'll not be selling many copies of the vinyl and they certainly won't be getting £85 out of me for what is effectively a bunch of songs I've already bought umpteen times over in the last 24 years!
For that money I want them all made into 5.1 mixes (and done properly like the Future Entertainment releases and NOT half done like the greatest hits DVDs) and have that included as well.
This release is just a blatent rip off and money making scam, because they know damn well that there are fans out there that will have to buy at least two of the releases for their collection - the vinyl and the deluxe CD.
What's up? Are Brian, Roger & John not making enough money these days?
If this is an indication of where QPL is going, f*** knows how much the Anthology sets will be IF they ever come out.
I agree 100% well said. I also suspect this wont be the last time queen re-re-re-re-re-release this material, with a new/old cover, brian probably needs a new telescope lol, i'm not buying this sorry it's a ripp-off. Have to say i'm not a beatles fan but they have gone flat out with the promotion for there remastered albums, something queen or should i say brian and roger should learn by. Rant over lol
Anyone who buys this is a mug. Its about time that the fans who are frequently exploited hit Queen Productions where it hurts. If nobody bought it the who project will turn in a loss and they might actually start listening to what we actually want.

I'm sure this collection won't sell half as well as Jim Beach and EMI think it will. People aren't as stupid as they'd like to think - you can pick up the Platinum Collection with all 3 collections cheaper and that collection has repeatedly been re-marketed. The fact that it's packaged like a budget collection won't help sales either I'd imagine - but then again, all the recent live Queen/Q+PR releases have had abysmal artwork as well.
From the product info on the site brians wig posted above:
"Charting over 21 years of making people rock, feel, sense and celebrate, Absolute Greatest reminds us just what fine, and smart, rock and pop writers and musicians Messrs Deacon, May, Mercury and Taylor were (are). Also that they had a sense of humour, which is perhaps another thing that made them so accessible"
Disregarding the questionable grammar of the first sentence we now know why we get the AG: It's a joke!! Just an outlet for Queen's sense of humour. How funny.
