We all know that all the time the Queen toured they prided themselves on putting on a complete show not just a sing-the -songs gig. Considering that, which of the sets did you prefer from the recent Queen+Paul Rodgers tours, the 2005 set or the 08 set?
At first, when I watched the Ukraine vid I really liked the stage for the 08 tour and I thought that it was really cool to have videos for the songs playing in the background. However when I got to a gig (Liverpool) I found I barely noticed the screen unless Freddie was on it or the back pics of Paul during 'Bad Company'. Watching the dvd's again now I think that the stage from the 05 tour looked nicer but I do remember people on here saying they felt blinded during the show! (I can't say as I didn't get to an 05 gig.)
p.s. Also, am I the only person to notice that part way through C-lebrity (during the guitar solo) on the Chile TV show an anti-Paul protester manages to get an invisible rope round him and haul him off of the stage?! ;-) Anyone else see what I mean?
The quality of the video screens on the '08 tour was good, but I don't know why they tapered the picture away into a pixelated effect near the edges - this just meant that the audience were robbed of part of the video feed, and so as a result some interesting bits were cut off.
I'm biased, considering that I saw the band in 2006, but I liked the stage design from the 05/06 tour better. More simplistic in nature, and more focused on the music (no goofy visuals behind the band to the best of my recollection).
As far as setlists go, well, they were pretty much the same now weren't they?
