Hi everybody...this time I would like to recieve some advices from you guys living in London..well Let me say this way..I'm planning a trip to london...I have some relatives living and working there..I got in touch with them...but I also would like to have your own vision...I never been abroad, this would be the first time, I am a spanish citizen so I have no problem with all the documents and legal stuff...my questions are:
Could a get job there in london? Is it hard to find a place to live and stay? even though I have a place, then I would like to have my own one..
.. what places do you suggest I must go visiting?
I really don't know how many time I will spend there, in fact is a kind of adventure, may be a month, may be 6 months...who knows?..it depends on what I get there..so finnaly, can you tell me anything important for a trip like this one?...about the city, the places, you know what I mean..
Well, hope I explained myself...keep in touch..and thanks!!
Go on GumTree.com and look up short term houses or rooms to let - if you want an apartment anywhere in zone 1-2 on your own it would be a minimum of about !200 pounds per calendar month for 1 bedroom living room and kitchen. Then you could see if you like it and get a job before taking on any big commitment. It is a wonderful place to live, but very expensive if you want to have a good quality of life. Of course you can live further out for much less, but if you don't know many people that would be lonely...and not a true London experience. Just my opinion...
learn to brew beer before you go to London unless you want to pay up and beyond £4 a pint!
Camden is a good place to hang out and SOHO if you like that type of thing *wink*
otherwise,SE London is best for the scenery and for cheap social scenes.
jobs wise, good luck with that,we are in the middle of a recession and jobs are gonna be hard to come by unless you want to work for peanuts and 60 hour weeks!
Hey..thanks so much for the information I really apreciate it...Well...Angeline, I saw gumtree.com, seems to be a quite complete web, I added to my favorites now, good!...I think I still need to now a little better all the zones and thew way they are called..but As I said before, I have two spanish cousins living and working there in London, they've been there for the last 7 or 8 years. So I have a place to stay four a couple of weeks..at the very beggining of this journey...My Idea then is going for my own place, maybe as you said Angeline, a room to let...but as I want to be there for a while, I would like to have a simple job, just to afford food and place, I'm going half as a tourist but the main reason of this trip is "knowing that big, and cospmopolitan city"
Joxer..thanks for the advices...Now "brew beer?" haha I couldn't help laughing when I read that, that's a cool advice, anyway I can live without beer, that's not problem!! haha...what about cigarrtees? I heard they are quite expensives...and about the recession...well I talked to some relatives in spain and they are having a bad time as well, but soon that is going to change...anyway, this trip I'm planning, I think, will be for january or febraury..may be march...don't know yet...well, you have been very polite and kind...Keep in touch..and may be we can have a beer sometime!!
Do Queenzoners go out sometime in London to meet each others? I'm asking this, couse I belong to an Astronomy forum here in Argentina, and from time to time we get together and meet and have a nice time!!...well...keep in touch! and thanks again...
Marcelo.-
