Hi, I'm a huge fan of Queen. I love all their studio work, but my favorite part about them are their live albums. Out of the 5 official live albums: Live Killers, Live Magic, Live at Wembley, Queen on Fire: Live at the Bowl, and Rock Montreal, which one is your favorite and why? My favorite is Rock Montreal because of the great song selection. Freddie Mercury's vocals were excellent and the way the whole concert was engineered was perfect. I hope Queen decides to release some more live albums, hopefully from their early years. |

My favorite is "Live At The Bowl", if for no other reason because of the brilliant way the songs from Hot Space were adapted to the stage. Only great musicians are up to this kind of challenge, and the guys shine throughout the whole concert: Freddie's vocals have a wonderful R&B edge that suits most songs just perfectly. Brian's guitar work is powerful and groovy, and Roger and John beautifully replace the synths with their crisp playing. A great album! |

What is there to like about Wembley? It had limited song selection and Freddie's voice was bad. |

Obviously you can't find these songs on live killers or at the bowl, so why are you complaining about song selection?....also, besides a few songs like "another one bites the dust" and "break free" which were horrible. overall I love freddie's voice in this show. very powerful, operatic. Love it!....lap of the gods, magic, radio ga ga, who wants to live forever, Imprompu, tie your mother down, under pressure are some examples I love. I still like the earlier shows the best, but no reason to put down a huge event that was wembely. |

The Manheim bootleg I have, but officially Live @ The Bowl I'd go with, Wembley 86 was a great gig DVD wise but the 1992 double CD for me doesn't sound too good to my ears |

LIVE KILLERS because for one it has obviously tracks that didnt survive into the 80's live setlist like dreamers ball death on 2 legs spread your wings dont stop me now and ive gotten a little burned out on the other live stuff with the always included under pressure bites the dust crazy little thing, and later radio ga ga and friends will be friends |

Though if they played those same songs that were on live killers over and over in the eighties, and never played a kind of magic, and radio ga ga, the same people would be crying that they never heard them play those songs. some people will cry no matter what. In my opinion a kind of magic at wembley is Just great as 70's queen, it's perfect. We got all the songs that we need from the live albums. Live killers has the 70's stuff, live at the bowl has the early 80's, wembley has the mid 80's. People still cry. |

We got all the songs that we need from the live albums. Live killers has the 70's stuff Many key tracks from the first 6 albums are still missing from official releases. But more people would complain about the absence of Ga Ga, Magic, etc. than are complaining about the current lack of It's Late, White Queen, etc. |
mike hunt 23.09.2009 02:13 |
well, maybe we'll get one more 70's release and some of those missing songs will be there. White Queen in particular is brilliant live. Maybe even better than the studio version. |
Yara 23.09.2009 21:36 |
Not exactly a live Queen album, but I've always been impressed by Roger and Brian's performance of Innuendo at the Freddie Tribute. Plant was not on top of his game, sadly. Brian elicits such a rich, full and yet delicate, sutble, and distinctive sound from the guitar that he's able to convey a whole world of impressions, ideas and emotions through his playing. Did he ever play "I can't live with you" live? One of my favorite songs from the 80's Queen. |

Live Killers - Sentimental value, when I was a kid I'd listen to this and spend the whole time looking at the pictures. Live At the Bowl - Great recording, lots of rare songs Live At Wembly - Powerful performance of the greatest hits, wish I was there Live in Montreal - Kinda sick of it from all the VHS releases but a good show Live Magic - Chopped up unfortunately Did I forget one? Oh wells.... |

I listen to the live stuff (and look the live DVDs) very rarely, but the most I like Live Killers because of - Brians Guitar solo still being a part of Brighton Rock and I love the point when Brighton Rock comes back as resultion - Freddies audience interaction inside of a very well played Now I'm Here - IMO the best live version of We Will Rock You Fast - the psychodelic noises of Get Down Make Love - Death On Two Legs & Dreamer's Ball but still some very interesting things are sadly missed out due to being released 1979 compared to the other releases - Another One Bites The Dust like played in Vienna 1982 (Bowl DVD) - I like Killer Queen on Montreal a lot more - Tutti Frutti as in Wembley 86 - an extensive Crazy Little Thing Called Love as in Wembley 86 - Flash and The Hero from Bowl |
Gregsynth 02.10.2009 10:53 |
I'd say that Rock Montreal, and Live at the Bowl were the greatest: Freddie's voice was in it's "prima era." |

A lot of people say 70s Queen is superior and I'll certainly agree they were better in the studio, but I think I actually prefer 80s Queen live. Many of their 80s songs were improved a lot in concert. Some of their 70s songs were too (like White Queen and We Will Rock You), but I feel like with a lot of 80s songs the live version is the best one. Don't Stop Me Now and Father to Son are better than Radio Ga Ga and A Kind of Magic, but I think Radio Ga Ga and AKoM gain a lot from live performances while DSMN and FtS lose a bit. And the better visuals of the 80s concerts help too. Also, I have to say that I can't stand the live version of '39. Admittedly, the only full 70s Queen show I've watched on video is Rainbow on Youtube, though I've seen a lot of other song videos too (just not full concerts). I have Montreal/Live Aid and Wembley on DVD. |

I think what I like about this album the most is you can hear the CROWD and the ENERGY the audience has. Live Killers has infamous mixing problems, but I think this ended up being a plus: it really sounds like you're there. Queen shows were about the audience having fun too, and too many live albums mix out the audience. When you hear the crowd clapping in time before Keep Yourself Alive begins, or going nuts before Tie Your Mother Down starts, or participating with Now I'm Here, it sounds like the perfect examples of what a rock concert is supposed to be. |
