Obviously we are here because of a common interest in Queen, but this website has been here for how long? For a while at least, and Queen has been around for years, obviously. How many of you are young and just discovering Queen. I've noticed that a number of newer members seem to be quite knowledgeable about Queen. Are you moldy oldies like me (59) or somewhere in between? Where are you from? I've noticed that English isn't easy for everyone who posts here. Lets all talk about ourselves a bit and our relationship with Queen, if you want. I'm from the USA. State of Iowa. I have of course known of Queen for years, but only in a casual way - the hits, you know. I haven't even listened to Rock music very much for years, except occasionally to the moldy oldies station. After the unbearable years of George Bush as president I had gotten involved in politics until it became glaringly obvious to me that the only way you could really have any influence there was to be filthy rich. Just getting involved in the process wasn't all that productive. That is all I'm going to say about that. I was very ready to move on. It was Adam Lambert who kind of reconnected my interest in classic rock, and specifically in Queen, so that I searched for and found Queen Online, Brian's Soapboxhaand Queenzone. I latched onto our Queen Greatest Hits album and began playing it and listening to a classic rock station when I take my long drives over home to see my dad every couple of weeks. After a couple of trips, I thought if I had to listen to AC~DC screaming at me one more time I was going to poke my ear drums out with an ice pick! So I dug out what rock CD's I DID have - Doors, and Lou Reed, and some Tom Waits. Not sure how to classify Tom Waits. But the Queen CD was the one that got played, and I'd rather play it over than put anything else on. So I began acquiring every Queen album and DVD at the local music shop and then moved to online sources. I'm still in that process. Budgetting, you know? Right now Hammer To Fall is my absolute favorite. It might be something else a couple of weeks from now. I am delighted with many of their songs that were not the commercial hits. I just picked up The Cosmos Rocks today, after looking at it a number of times and not quite being ready to go there. But I decided to take that plunge after reading in the archives at Brian's Soapbox during the period they were recording it, and another post he had made about Journey, after the sudden departure of their singer, Jeff Scott Soto, and listing several options for what direction the band would take after that. Option #4 was this: "They find a singer with something NEW to offer, a new foil, someone who has a musical world of his own, and is worth arguing with! Even someone who can steal some of the limelight. This is what I have LOVED, working with our wonderful colleague, Paul Rodgers - yes, we can play the old stuff, and yes we can be, in a sense, a continuation of Queen, but everything is new - the sky is the limit - because, like in the Old Days, we are working with a brilliant creator, we are sharing a new creative process, feeding off each other's ideas - experimenting, growing. This is what excites me, at the age of....oh, forget it!! ha ha...." Now how could I not give it a chance after reading that? I have only listened to some of it on the way home from town, but so far have been pleasantly surprised. I have another drive over home to see Dad tomorrow. [/img] There is another thread here about that album and I will check in there when I'm more familiar with it. Well, I guess that is enough for my story! Anybody else? |

Yes, I'm guilty..... an old moldy from Texas. When I was in high school, we were so into Killer Queen. As a senior, BoRap was released, and to me, that song really epitomizes Queen and their talent. It is a timeless masterpiece. Let me skip my college years, marriage, and having children of which I spent listening to very little Queen, although I deeply mourned Freddie's passing. I still remember where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news that he had died........just like when President Kennedy and Elvis died. Fast forward to 3 years ago when I heard "You're my best friend" on a cruise line commercial on t.v. I said to myself, "wait a minute, I've missed listening to that special sound for so long". So, I started the research, and after one cd set, "The Platinum Collection", I got another and another. Every time I heard a new Queen song, well, at least new to me, such as "Who needs you" or "Las palabras", I was blown away. And don't get me started on Innuendo.....crazy about that one. I don't have the entire collection yet. I lack Queen I & II, Jazz, and The Game, but I will get them soon. I have Freddie's solo work too. I also hope to get all the dvd's. I love to watch them on YouTube. I have a 24 year old daughter who's a middle school teacher, and a 27 year old son who's a PhD graduate school student, and they are amused at my love for Queen. They call me "groupie". My ringtones, which I learned to create myself with Acid Pro, are all Queen and my 2 mp3's are loaded with Queen and only Queen. The hubby doesn't really have an opinion either way. When he walks past my monitor and he sees me watching Rock Montreal or other videos on YouTube, he makes me unplug my earphones so he can hear too. He enjoys it for a little while, and then walks away. His loss......poor soul. LOL! You know, I'm embarrassed to say it, and I hope that others here don't excommunicate me from this forum, but Paul Rodgers, although an extremely talented musician, didn't really do much to excite me. I don't have "The Cosmos Rocks"......(yet...) I found him to be out of sync with the Queen sound. Too much wanting to do his own thing with his own style and that turned me off. Queen needs to reincarnate Freddie with someone who brings Freddie's style and dynamic vocal range. I know that Freddie is irreplaceable, but come on, what's so bad about bringing someone on board who can spark that Bulsara magic once again? I think we're overdue for the biggest Queen comeback ever. I know it's coming........( at least I'm hoping). |

Pleased to meet you! I've noticed that there seem to be quite a few newer members and I don't know if that is the norm here or if it is a recent phenomenon. My husband likes Queen very well, but not to the exclusion of others, so I'm quite happy that he doesn't go along on my trips to see Dad, so I can blast Queen for 3 hours or so on the road without feeling guilty! [/img] Paul Rodgers was a totally unknown quantity for me. I think the "Queen" part ruffles a lot of feathers, but I liked Brian's explanation. Thanks for stopping by. I didn't know if anyone else would want to "confess" or not. |

Alright, I'll bite. I'm a 30 year-old chick from Chicago, where I teach college writing courses, edit an online arts magazine, and quietly whine about not having enough time to work on my own writing/audio projects. I've always been much more of a modern/alternative/indie rock fan than a classic rock fan, although I grew up listening to quite a bit of classic and progressive rock via my rock-loving mom (although hardly any Queen). I'm just a music junkie in general. Oddly enough, just like Cacatua, Adam Lambert reignited my interest in classic rock (and guyliner) over the course of last season's American Idol, and Brian & Roger's surprise appearance on the finale made me go, "Hey, I forgot about those guys!" So back in May I dusted off my copy of Greatest Hits I and got hooked--hooked like I am on only a few things (e.g., Clint Eastwood, Illini basketball, crystal meth)--thus kicking off my own personal Summer of Queen '09. I'm the kind of person that, when I take a real interest in something, I want to know absolutely everything about it. So that led me to a massive album- and DVD-buying spree, several hours in front of YouTube, and lots of web "research". In all of that surfing, somehow Brian's website and this place rose to the top as sites I check in with regularly. Just kidding about the crystal meth. As for why I keep coming back here, I don't quite know. Sure, its obnoxious, rowdy, and riddled with grammatical errors, but there are also some really knowledgeable folks here, and I've learned a lot as I've "discovered" different albums, songs, videos, clips, interviews, histories, etc. For example, I've learned that I should really keep the fact that I actually love "The Invisible Man" to myself. (That won't stop me, but it's good to know.) |

I'm 23 year old lawyer (eek, don't say anything) I live in London but I'm originally from Ireland. I was completely obsessed with Queen from the ages of 11 - 15 but then got into other and what I considered at the time 'cooler' music like the Cure, Nirvana, the Smiths, Velvet Underground, Bowie etc. Strangely at a particularly stressful point just before I qualified this year, around March, I listened to News Of The World at a friend's house (who I discovered also knew a lot about Queen when they knew who 'Farokh' was) and that reignited my interest, so I put all my studio and live albums onto my ipod and finally read Jim Hutton's book (Im so glad I didn't read that when I was 12!) and re-read Phoebe's (which, incidently I would defend his reasons for writing). I came across QZ via google and joined. This was something I thought I'd never do, I mean seriously, an internet forum! However, some of the discussions were so interesting, and some were so infuriating that I couldn't resist. So, pleased to meet you... |

Yes, it can be a hassle here. I've about had it with Erick. It's up to him to "Keep Himself Alive" now. One can only do so much. And why do they beat up on Queen Archivist so much? Is it because he represents the "establishment"? I do sort of enjoy the fact that people speak their minds plainly here rather than walking around on eggshells, as long as it doesn't hijack the topic too far away from where it began. Even Brian gets to effing this and that at his soapbox. I did try to join Queen Online too after a while but after registering, they never activated my account and all emails I sent to inquire about it were refused by their server. There are some problems here too, but Queen Online forums seem to be dysfunctional. Although Adam Lambert was the catalyst that got me here, and I would like to see he and Queen, or Brian and Roger, get together at least for a concert, with DVD to follow, I find that my main interest is in Queen now. Some of the words connected with Adam's album, like "electronic pop-rock", make me a little queasy. Don't know quite what to expect from Adam's album, as he has so much coming at him right now. I too really go off the deep end when I am interested in something, so I have been acquiring everything I can as quickly as I can afford to do it. I even just finished engraving myself a brass Queen keychain with Freddie on one side and his Queen logo on the other. That's the first thing that has gotten me to sit down and engrave anything for a couple-three years! Well, I guess I'd better get ready for my trip over to see Dad. I'll be taking The Cosmos Rocks and Innuendo along to listen to on the way over and back as they are my two latest CD's. Thanks for checking in! |

I've been working my way through Brian's Soapbox archives. I'm up to '08 now. I sort of breezed past a lot of the cosmic stuff. Sorry Brian. I have found some cool bits of history and some explanations there, like the one I posted in the beginning of this thread about working with Paul Rodgers on new stuff, which is why I got The Cosmos Rocks and was able to listen to it with a fairly open mind. I heard it almost 3 times over today on the road. It certainly isn't Queen as we knew it, but as I was not expecting that anyway, I liked it for the most part. I won't elaborate here though as there is another thread for that. I have also tried to use the "Search" feature here instead of asking stupid repetative questions recently too! BTW Zebonka12, I'd be happy to hear as well from any of you Oldtimers who might not be opposed to "coming out". |

Forgive me if this sounds a bit schmaltzy but I guess I've come to think that Queen happened in a place in time like Camelot when these 4 people came together. Whatever might happen now is another animal. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it's not easy to let go of the original and move on. Some people apparently can't or won't. There has been a lot of water under the bridge since Freddie departed though so it's bound to be different. I do think that if Brian and Roger are to continue as Queen then they need to have new members to reform a working unit instead of this Queen + hybrid thing. I find it somewhat amazing that Brian was doing his thesis AND working on The Cosmos Rocks. Maybe there is an explanation there. Too bad Roger doesn't have a place to spout off like Brian's Soapbox. Not his thing I guess. |

Also I think in the context of 'today's' music there's so much better. When I listen to any given Queen album I always contextualize it a bit, imagine what was going on in the world at the time. |

I can't really imagine Freddie doing his performances now in his 60's if he were alive and they were still going, but then Queen seemed to evolve as time changed, so the performance itself would have had to change. You are young and full of energy, but the older you get the more effort it takes to do the same things, and you are much more likely to get injured from doing them as well - even small things that one wouldn't see coming. It's really very annoying to age! As to community live journal, I just find the sheer creative snark to be entertaining - perhaps more so because I am just a voyeur. |

Though I didn't buy my first Queen item till late 2006 which was the GH volume 1 cd I'd been aware of songs like We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions cos of sporting events and Another One Bites The Dust cos of Gladiators lol. But I didn't know they were Queen songs till about 2001 lol bad I know but better late than never eh ? I did know Bohemian Rhapsody and Radio Gaga as Queen songs ever since I was a kid though. I have been a Queen fan since 1980, I live in Moose Jaw, Sask, Canada. I'm 45 and my first Queen exposure was Another One Bites the Dust. The very first Queen album I bought was the Game. I looked for other Queen albums after that, my faves are the mid to late 70's albums.. from Sheer Heart Attack on to Live Killers. I do have some other Queen sites bookmarked--Queenoline, Shane's Queen site(its pretty good). I found this forum a few months ago.. its been pretty good so far. |

North of the eastern end of Montana a bit. I don't have all the albums yet, but will have them all in the near future. I was working my way upward through the years, but then I jumped ahead to Innuendo. A number of the songs are on the various Hits and Classics collections, but there are so many other little gems on the individual albums. I don't know if I've been to Shane's Queen site or not, but there are certainly some good ones around. Nice to meet you too! |

This is an interesting thread! I'm from Ireland and am in my mid 20s but have only been listening to Queen for a few years. When i 'discovered' them I fell in love with them and am trying to build up a collection of all their work. I haven't been posting here for too long - since sometime last year i think? I had popped in occasionally over the last few years but hadn't posted before. I don;t know what started me posting, think I just needed to be able to talk about Queen/music without being thought strange! |

An addiction is a terrible thing. ;o) When I begin to tell him something else about Queen, my husband gets this look on his face.....................On the other hand he did wear his Queen T-shirt that I got him (like mine) when we went riding off to a car show today. |

I'm going to bite too. I'm not new to this site at all (joined back in 2003, I believe). I'm 20 and live in PA, USA. I became familiar with Queen the old fashioned way. In July of 2003, I heard We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions on the radio and about a day later, on the same radio station, Bohemian Rhapsody. To my surprise, after asking some friends, the three songs were all the same rock band -- up until this point I had never even heard of Queen. That summer I bought Queen Greatest Hits (Hollywood) and listened to it non-stop -- and then bought Classic Queen. From that point on I became a collector of their music and memorabelia. CDs, shirts, posters. books, stickers, hats, LPs, DVDs, ... I never seem to get tired of their music and even have the Queen phoenix tattooed on my back. I'm pretty damn sure I'm a fan for life. I wouldn't want it any other way! |

I have been a big big fan since 1985, I was just a kid when I first heard them, and fell in love immediately. The harmonies, the guitar tone (oh that tone) that mysterious yet amazing man with the hair, and later the tache ;). Mr. Bad Guy was actually the first full (related) album I heard other than Greatest Flix video and WWRY video (Rock Montreal). Queen II and AKOM were the next albums I heard but SHA was the first one I bought. I lived and breathed Queen from the age of 9 till about 24 when I heard Jeff Buckley and finally realised there WAS more to life than Queen. Got my Burns BHM in december 01, and LOVE IT TO BITS - I want to get a Mini May and a BMG model too - Guytons etc. just a pipe dream. I am here because I want to learn more about Queen, and be able to talk about them without the people around me rolling their eyes. To be able to be completely silly about my obsession and not feel bad to say I am a Mayniac more than I am a Mercurian :) Why now? Well I was not always on the net - till late last year. Just in time for the release of that great album TCR, and I joined here then, but lurked for a long while till just a few weeks ago. Whatever may happen here (and a lot of shit does happen) we are all still fans of Queen and I am sure we all get that same feeling inside when we hear them or see them. Not much else in life compares to that feeling outside of sex and one or two other things LOL. Rock on Queen!! |

Ok, my turn. It's not easy to say- I'm from Ukraine. The country pretty notorious, but believe you or not, there are really nice people, talented and clever. The goverment- totally another question. I'm 20. The music is a great joy for me, probably escapism. "The Queen story" started in 2005, though I joined Queenzone less then a year ago. Because, generally it's the only place where I can talk about my favourite band. When I say about Queen, people usually respond: "Oh, come on, he's dead!". What I reckon to be the most stupid argument ever. I think that music is beyond time. It's either good or not, and when it is, it will last. I found out about Queen through "Highlander". The first album was "Greatest Hits III". Can you imagine how I felt after, while listening to original (with Freddie) versions of The Show Must Go On, Somebody To Love and Another One Bites The Dust? What an improvisation! Now I have all studio albums and some other stuff. I also once saw Q+PR in Berlin, while missed them in Ukraine. I left the country and it appeared they are coming! What a bad joke! But with a happy end:) I'm very meticulous about my writing. I'm quite good with spelling, but not enough with grammar. So excuse me if I do mistakes and don't criticize too much about it. All who participated in the thread- I like your stories a lot. Very interesting! |

I am green with envy about your guitars and guitar dreams! I have drooled at the thought of acquiring one of Brian's Red Specials, but I'm afraid there is no justifiying it at my age. I'd have to learn to play one, and then what would I do with with it? Not likely I'd be looking to join a band, so all rather pointless, however appealing it might be. Total fantasy. Better to collect and listen to the Queen material out there for me. I just love the cool things Brian did with it like that guitar jazz band he created for Good Company. But hey, more power to those of you who can go for it! Queen has rescued me from being an information junkie who had to have a radio or TV blabbering away in the background all the time to something far more pleasant and inspiring. I also am in apparently the minority of those who like TCR. I think it is fun to listen to. I love the catchy song Call Me, and Cosmos Rockin', Still Burnin', Some Things That Glitter - well I like most of it. I'd like to have heard Brian singing Small. I think that some of the lyrics are quite good, in spite of the criticism I've heard, but I suppose it depends on whether or not you share Brian's POV about war and all creatures great and small, and so on, which I hear interwoven in them.(Not that this doesn't also represent Roger's and Paul's POV's, but I don't know what their's are. I suppose the fact that the lyrics include these things represents Roger's and Paul's consent as well?) And some of the lyrics are just fun. Go Bri and Roger and whoever you might team up with! |

You have problems there, and so do we in the USA - just not the same ones. Politics is what screws everything up, and the News agencies have their agendas as well in creating the reality that they project out there on people. As you say, it is the common people in a country who make the difference. Queen will live on as long as there are people out here who love their music, either newer recruits or those who have been with them all along, and Freddie will always be remembered as the greatest singer and showman out there, but I do hope that Roger and Brian keep going for some years yet in whatever form. You do very well - I had no idea that English wasn't your first language! Yes, I think it is fascinating to learn something about the members here. It still blows my mind about this age of the internet that we can be sitting in locations all over the world and be having a meeting of our minds in one place. |

They do not sound EXACTLY like Brian's one unless you WANT them to, but they do have a tone of their own outside of other commercial guitars, as well as a superb versatility you will rarely find in others to. Regarding Small, I appreciate what you are saying (it is mt fave on TCR along with Call me) but you seem to sound as though you think Brian wrote it? I just want to clarify it was actually Roger who wrote Small, and IMHO is just about the best song he ever wrote. I like Paul singing it more than I would Roger (in the context of the album) but Brian's vocals would have suited it too. Cheers :) |

Apparently we are back. I know that Brian didn't write Small, though if I am to assume that their names are listed after the songs in the order of who contributed the most, then May is listed second, but I would have liked Brian singing it instead of Paul-Paul-Paul on everything. I do agree it is one of Roger's best. Call Me isn't much on lyrics, and that isn't why I like it anyway, but the reversal of the lines, You got my name, You got my number to You got my number, You got my name really irritates me anyway. It seems that could have been handled better than just to reverse them. We will see how the guitar interest holds up. I have a lot of other time-eating interests already, and I can listen to Queen CD's while I am doing them! I'd have to admit that I was getting a BMG as a collectible to begin with and anything further that happened would be miraculous! ;o) |

Hi all queenzoners... My name is Emma and I'm from Sweden and 26 yrs old (yes, a baby among Queen-lovers) I work as a mechanic in a big underground iron ore mine. (The only girl among plenty of middle-age men :/) I've been listening to Queen since the early to mid 90's, cant really remember when I started considering myself a fan cause my mother was/is a huge Queen-fan and actually travelled to Britain on two occasions in the 80's to see them, she also was at two of the concerts in Sweden. I grew up with Queen in a way :D Getting a little older i realized what the fuzz was all about and I've been hooked ever since. I became a member on Queenzone looking for somebody to share experiences and discuss Queen with, and dig deeper into Queen music, hoping to find people who actually was around for their glory days, something i sadly missed. I do remember alot from the late 80's but was way to young to really understand. Something I wont forget is Freddie's death, my mum was crushed to say the least! Thankyou all for a great fansite :D |

How wonderful! I'm so impressed that you are a mechanic. My father was a mechanic-watchmaker-machinist and I think there must be something genetic about it, or perhaps another case of osmosis, as although I do not work in that field I am mechanically inclined whenever I need to be. Thanks for dropping by! |

Hiya. I first got onto the Queen discussion boards in 1999. It was the one on the fan club website. It was in the run up to the release of Hits 3 and I thought some of the negative reactions to it were so over the top they were funny. That's where I came up with my name. Now, 10 years on, I'm ranting like a lunatic here as much as anyone about the release of Absolute Greatest! Is that progress? Let's see how we are in 10 years time with the release of Ultimate Greatest. The fan club board fell victim to the millenium bug, the only victim in the world that I know of. We went over to QueenRocker and when that crashed came here. And there you have it! |

Your tale of the demise of groups in your wake makes it all sound so ephermal. Oh well, talk is cheap, after all. Yes, Hits, Classics, More Hits, and Stone Cold Classics, with no end in sight apparently. Good to hear from the occasional Oldtimer too - more perspective on things. |

Thanks for dropping by! Nice to get a reply :D "Got no feel, got no rythm, I just keep losing my beat" is my favourite lyric of all Queen lyrics (well I could name a few actually), sometimes I listen to Somebody to love just to hear that sentence.. so simple and still so poetic! Just tragic that I can't correct the spelling of my nickname, I't doesn't seem to work to change nick :D This mistake is common for swedes for some reason... maybe cause many words with the same sound - fool, cool etc. is spelled with 2 o:s and lose sounds like it should be pronounced like hose... :D Well I discovered my mistake right away but too late! On the note of genetics, my father is a mechanic too and I'm absolutely sure that i inherited it from him. Before getting this job, first as a temp and later on permanently, I really didn't know about my mechanic-skills. I'm educated in culture and litterary history (lol) Not many jobs in that area. I started with smaller repairs but learned stuff real quick and after three years i got a steady job. Being a girl I don't think its expected of you to know these typically masculine traits and we hardly ever even get to try it. I'm lucky I did try it because it's fun, I love my job. Hoping to become a permanent Queenzoner |

Hey, LoosingMyBeat! You started a topic "Underground Acoustics", didn't you? I liked that story, just like everything original. My favourite quote from "Somebody To Love" is: " I just gotta get out of this prison cell Someday I'm gonna be free, Lord!" - lots of passion in it! I love Swedish city Helsinborg- I bought some Queen's vinyls there. There are beautiful architecture also. |
LoosingMyBeat 01.09.2009 13:33 |
Dragon-fly: Nice you have been to Sweden :D I live in the most northern city in Sweden so it's really on the other side of the country from Helsinborg. Somebody to love is really a emotional song all over with passion, soul, frustration and melancholy... Perfect rock ballad in my taste :D |

Would just like to point out to LoosingMyBeat that the misspelling of 'Losing' is definitely not confined to Swedes. In the year or so that I have been visiting forums, I have seen that particular word spelt wrong almost more than any other, and it seems to be mostly Americans that do it. Along with 'definintely' - which becomes 'definately' and the one that DOES wind me up - 'could of', 'would of' and 'should of' - which my not be a spelling error as such, but is very annoying LOL. For all those that do that, it's 'would HAVE', 'could HAVE' and 'should HAVE'. Ok rant over, sorry everyone :) |

Funny thing is, being on a forum writing in english I'm really struggling with spelling and grammar... heck I even spelled my name wrong... It hurts deep into my soul ;D |

I'm just too much meticulous. I hate when I do mistakes. But I still do. I very often forget about the articles. And tenses... But that's the way to learn... But it's good that we can just write what we think without any hard control. The theme is more important. :D |

I want to clarify that I have no problem with people making mistakes - especially when English is not their first language. I am from London, and as such have worked with people from all over the world, and I have had mostly foreign girlfriends too. I am more than used to helping non-native speakers with their English. It is just annoying when native speakers make these mistakes - English, American, Australian, Canadian etc. It is ALL over every forum I visit and seeing the same mistakes over and over just gets a LITTLE bit annoying over time. I am not getting 'upset' or 'worked up' by anything - just pointing it out. If I was THAT bothered I would have made a whole thread about it would I not? And before anyone else butts in to say it, YES I am aware of learning difficulties and dislexia etc. I reiterate that I was merely making a harmless point, not getting wokred up. |

Alright, I'm Dan, 20 years old, from the UK. I'm from Wales originally, although I have lived most my life in Carlisle, and currently studying at Huddersfield. Always liked the Queen hits, although I didn't really get into music until...I'd say 2005. I had a list of about 30 songs I would constantly play, and there must have been about 5 Queen songs within it. My dad bought me the Greatest Hits boxset. From there, my collection expanded slowly. I got A Night at the Opera first, although admittedly I wasn't hot at all on the sound, especially as I was occupied with other bands (Oasis being a big one). But eventually I warmed to Queen, and I acquired all of their albums, including their live stuff. I have since purchased hard copies of all their released material, and in addition I have collected several bootlegs, unreleased stuff, things like that. Weirdly enough, I've never gone into their solo stuff. I have no idea why, I just don't think it would be great. I mean I like Roger as a song writer but I feel that if I listened to his stuff, it wouldn't have that Queen sound that has made them my favourite band. As for Queen + Paul Rodgers, they were great in concert. But the album The Cosmos Rocks was very average. I have only played it once or twice. Whilst I like songs like Say It's Not True, I think the album sounds a bit too much like Talking Heads. Now I like Talking Heads, but I didn't buy TCR to listen to that sound. I come here cos I like talking to others about my interests. I mean, I like football so I'm on a football forum, same with pro wrestling (no judging, please!). I love the information I get here, and I also love the sarcasm from some of us here. Users like Zebonka (or whatever his username is) and Microwave make me laugh a lot. |

I get what you are saying about TCR. It took me a while before I decided to give it a try and to be as objective as possible, not expecting the "Queen" sound. In that sense I found that I liked it mostly, and am very fond of some things on it. However, I am not familiar with these other groups, as I haven't kept up with the music scene. I've heard of some of them but couldn't tell if I were hearing them on the radio. I guess it is sort of a loyalty, by way of not giving a damn about newer music for many years. I will not judge you on professional wrestling.[/img] Yes, I enjoy the sarcasm and horseplay too as long as it doesn't get mean-spirited, and mostly it doesn't. Yeah, Zebonka12 - I imagine him (?) looking like that picture of Brian with his face screwed up, and something about zzzzzzzzzebra stripes. That's sort of like when I hear the Queen song You're My Best Friend I picture a marshmallow. [/img] |
