Whoah, 24 years? Let me get ut my reading glasses... This was the first time I saw Queen perform live - even though it was on TV. It was magnificent. They were great, and Freddie proved to be the brightest star on a stage of stars. Incredible. Thanks for the memories! |

Was it so differently great compared to any other Queen show? No, I think it was the way they compleletely took control of the Wembley crowd unlike any of the other starts could do, that made this performance as memorable as it has become. All the other artists worked up a sweat trying to get the crowd sing the obvious choruses in their songs, and most were only moderately successful. But it seemed as if the whole crowd started singing the first verse of Borhap , with out much prodding even. Their performance was electric. B.T.W the only other performances that I really liked on the day were Dire Straits and Bryan Adams. IMO U2/Bono sucked with his show-off performance, Elton John, George Michael and David Bowie were so boring. Oh, and there's a moment during the Wembley finale towards the end when Paul Mccartney, our Freddie and Bono are standing next to each other, with hands over each other's shoulders and screaming. Thats like the past, present and future of rock n roll together. |

But it makes me think about other question: if there are perfect shows, why then some other (with mistakes) are more famous? Hmm, I don't know- injustice? Is there something more important than perfection? Oh, I guess I'm slipping into philosophy... But, what I wanted to say- I like their performance on Live Aid. Maybe it even was not the best, but it was very good. And the reaction of the audience (not their audience) was astounding. But you know all the story... |

The Beach Boys were great as well, though I think Brian Wilson could of had more lead vocals in the songs, he looked happy at least. |

I remember watching it with some friends, and, actually being nervous for Queen. Can you imagine? I was afraid my band would flop in front of all of those folks, in the face of all of those new bands... At that time, Queen had been quiet in the US, Sadly, there was even some negativity surrounding the Queen name. But, I missed my band. I missed hearing them on the radio, and, I didn't watch a great deal of MTV. And, even in their heyday, Queen weren't often on the telly(I remember only the SNL performance), so that though I listened to their albums, over and over, and, heard them on the radio, actually seeeing them was a rare treat in the US. It was thrilling! No doubt not Queen's best live performance EVER, but, a magical one which a great many heretofore non-Queen fans witnessed. And, since this was in the days long before youtube and such, if you were a Queen fan, especially in the US, it was truly a momentous event. |
