After the Queen/Lizzy torrent shared here last week, it was rather curious to see that the Mott the Hoople show from Portland just came up on Dime last weekend. I thought it might be nice to "reunite" Queen and Mott so that we can enjoy one whole show, taped by the great Joe Maloney. Many thanks to KRW & Co for sharing both gigs and of course Joe Maloney for taping the show and making it available in the first place - we are all most grateful! I downloaded the Queen show here ages ago. I have left the original notes intact and have done nothing more than renumbering the discs and adding a combined set of notes. This would quite possibly fit on two CDs. Here are the setlists and other notes, including a request from the original uploader. PORTLAND EXPO PORTLAND, MAINE (USA) APRIL 28, 1974 AUDIENCE ANALOG MASTER>CDR>EAC>FLAC JOE MALONEY MASTER RECORDING SET LIST: DISC 1: Queen 1: INTRO/FATHER TO SON 2: OGRE BATTLE 3: SON AND DAUGHTER 4: SEE WHAT A FOOL I'VE BEEN 5: LIAR 6: KEEP YOURSELF ALIVE 7: MODERN TIMES ROCK AND ROLL 8: HEY BIG SPENDER 9: TUTTI FRUTTI JAM DISC 2: Mott the Hoople 1: INTRO 2: THE GOLDEN AGE OF ROCK AND ROLL 3: SUCKER 4: ROLL AWAY THE STONE/SWEET JANE 5: REST IN PEACE 6: ALL THE WAY FROM MEMPHIS 7: BORN LATE '58 8: ONE OF THE BOYS DISC 3: Mott the Hoople 1: HYMN FOR THE DUDES 2: MARIONETTE 3: DRIVIN' SISTER/CRASH STREET KIDS/VIOLENCE (MEDLEY) 4: ALL THE YOUNG DUDES 5: WALKIN' WITH A MOUNTAIN Recorded using a Sony TC-110 analog cassette recorder with internal mic. Special thanks to Joe Maloney for making this recording available. Please do not "Remaster" and then re-post this recording. Presented to you by KRW&CO, January 2008 / July 2009. There was some artwork done for the Queen part of the show (included) - maybe someone could do something for the whole show?? Size : 772 MB Here are Mediafire links (9 in all), for those who so prefer : link Portland - Queen & Mott.part01.rar link Portland - Queen & Mott.part02.rar link Portland - Queen & Mott.part03.rar link Portland - Queen & Mott.part04.rar link Portland - Queen & Mott.part05.rar link Portland - Queen & Mott.part06.rar link Portland - Queen & Mott.part07.rar link Portland - Queen & Mott.part08.rar link Portland - Queen & Mott.part09.rar As usual, please don't convert into lossy format unless for your own use - keep lossless lossless, particularly when we have it in this quality! Good download and enjoy :)) |

Hi !! Thanks a lot dear Ginger for the reupload; this is a great recording of one those curiosities in the 70's music, it's nice to revisit that nowadays, 35 years later ! Anyway, I think mediafire played some tricks in the reupload, and unfortunately track 1 from CD3 (Hymn For The Dudes) is corrupted and can't be unzipped. I assume this was not the case in the original share. So maybe the same song in the torrent files isn't corrupted. Which leads to my new annoying question : can somebody check if that file isn't corrupted, and upload it here to complete Ginger's mediafire links ? Very nice listening, very interesting band that Mott The Hoople was !! Besides the fact that they really helped Queen by offering them the opening act twice (British and USA tour), I like their music a lot !!! Listen to The Age Of Rock'N'Roll for example, or the splendid "All The Young Dudes" and "All The Way From Memphis". Nice share, really !! Thanks Joe Maloney for sharing these nice pearls ! Regards, Olivier, Belgium. |

Thanks a lot Ginger but part 1 on mediafire got some CRC errors - track 06 cd2, 01 cd3 and on cd2 track 2,3,6,7 are not available) I will try to use torrent. |
pittrek 07.07.2009 08:41 |
Hi Olivier, do you have already the Status Quo recording or will you only get it in the future ? |

Strange, I only had a problem with the first track of CD3, and have dowlnoaded that twice. None of the other errors occured to me. I think it is mediafire who's to blame here unfortunately. Still, many thanks to you Ginger ! Regards, Olivier, Belgium. |

pittrek wrote: Hi Olivier, do you have already the Status Quo recording or will you only get it in the future ? Not yet, I just know it exists and know some ways to try and get it. It seems a bootleg called "A Night With Queen" exists (silver-pressed or CDRs, I do'nt know !). Some other say they have the Quo's at this date, for example "Quo's back in London" and another one, but it could contain a show at Knebworth but in 1990, so that needs to be check. Anyway, I contacted some people and am now waiting for their answers. As soon as I know some more and/or receive it, I'll let you know of course ! Regards, Olivier, Belgium. |

Here's disc 3 track 1 - hope it works this time!! link Sorry about all the problems - but I concur that it is probably mediafire because I got no error messages on my end. This was really a great concert. Wish I could have been there!!! |

Sorry to disappoint you but, where on earth did you get the idea RUFUS were on the Hyde Park bill? The line-up for that day was SUPERCHARGE, STEVE HILLAGE, KIKI DEE (sans Elton John although most thought he mightt show). After what seemed like a very long wait, QUEEN took to the stage. Now the good news! Yes, a recording of the whole day is out there! The one problem is my ex-h has it and I don't! Boo-hoo! Perhaps I should've included the tapes as well as tthe record collection, guitars, amps and keyboards. Ah well. Such is divorce for you. Something most missed about that day was its date and significance. Brian spotted a banner (home-made, hanging by threads from a tree-branch (with someone completely stoned nearby, hanging on for dear life) simply saying 'HENDRIX LIVES', and appreciated it. September 18th? Hendrix? The anniversary of his passing over into Electric-Angel-Land. |
The Real Wizard 16.06.2011 20:24 |
Nice first post, Annie. Any chance you can make peace for a day and ask for the tape? :-) |
