pogor1 wrote: Sorry Bob ,i have stupid question about what is "matrix" mean, is it when you hear both AUD and SBD recordings at the same time? Exactly.. :-) It's very difficult to create it, as you must ensure that both sources play at the same speed, and that you don't get the phasing effect from being 0.01% off. My friend Helmut from Germany did an excellent job on that one. |

Dear, Sir Gh, how are you? Thanks again for the share. I'm going to download it as soon as possible. Why do you think this concert is so highly-regarded by Queen fans and even by the band, it seems? Do you think it's because of the performance or for a, let's say, historical reason? Was it a big deal back then to play in the Hyde Park? Was it still (?) a prestigious location for rock bands to play? I remember watching the Stones' "At the Park" and I enjoy that concert - it happened just after Brian Jone's death and I don't know how many people gathered there to listen to them. Mick Jagger sings with two or three microphones at times, it's funny. That said, even though the Stones concert is way older, the footage is in much better shape than Queen's concert in the park some 6 years later - do you know how it was shot? What kind of film? Doing an audience recording of this must have been hell, the bands could barely make themselves heard there, at least judging from the Stones' performance, which has this thing of Mick Jagger singing with 10 microphones. lol For those who don't know it yet, here it goes again: Sir GH has an excellent website with careful analysis of each Queen live recording available out there as of now: www.queenlive.ca Well, thanks for the great share again. I'm curious to listen to this one in better quality. Thanks for the work and dedication. Take care! Yara. |

Not too many bands had done it up to that point, so it was indeed a pretty big deal. The numbers themselves were huge... a free concert for 150,000+ fans wasn't too commonplace in 1976. Plenty of people must have thought that history would view it on a grand scale. |

The lowest gen I have is the QTV DVD version with the B&W Roger Taylor photograph menu (I think you have that one too) Maybe you should ask Miklos... |

I guess it features the best live version of Liar I have listened to so far. Well, at least it sounds the best to me as far as Brian's guitar playing is concerned. Roger&Brian interact better too, it seems. In terms of performance, I think it's better than the one at Hammersmith in 1975. Freddie's vocals are a bit more daring too and sounding brighter when necessary. Quite good. I must say, it's really amazing here how Freddie sort his way out of the wild falsetto line of the original: "father please...directed me in the right way" - he uses a bit of his falsetto register and keeps balancing it with a soft middle-tenor full singing. Very well done, I thought. Well, at least I liked it. I wonder whether he ever tried to sing live the whole line in falsetto. It wouldn't be hard to him at that point - he tried to give a go at that killer line from Under Pressure in Montreal, so I thought maybe he could have tried to get the higher notes in Liar using his beautiful and lovely falsetto. I liked the vocal harmonies too. I really enjoyed the performance of Sweet Lady from this concert: it casts the song in a different - and more likeable - light to me. Ogre Battle is exciting. Very good concert. :-) |

I don't know of any other versions other than QTV. There are versions with and without the logo. Unfortunately they all have damaged sections and this sample is the best result you will probably get, in parts anyway. link I was at this concert. |

This might be an ignorant question - but why do exactly all recordings ('cept audience ones) of Hyde Park have the same fluttering? How can all the different sources for this well known concert suffer from the same issues? |
