Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt. BTDTBTTS.
How many Queen T-shirts have you worn in your life? Must be hundreds, eh? So many to choose from, so many varieties of style. Do you wear the 70's Freddie image on your chest, leotards and long hair, or 80's image, moustache and more sober stage costumes? The choice of T-shirt tells a lot about you.
The Queen logo was/is very popular as were the official tour T-shirts. Sadly the last one being way back in 1986. (QPR etc. don't count). Novelty T-shirts e.g Brian is God, the nasty Queenies are back, Queen who else? etc. are exactly that. Novelties. Novelties soon wear off, I mean whatever happened to Larry Lurex?
One day last week I was in a small independent record shop in the big city where I live. Ostensibly I was in there checking out if they had any new bootlegs; truthfully I was killing time (from Strange frontier, side 2 track 1 on the original vinyl album; J Stuart, eat your heart out). The shop also had a rack of clothing (everything in black, naturally) which included the majestic garment we call T-shirts. A pretty young goth girl was flicking through the range of clothes and then turned to leave the shop. Using my charm and chatting up technique I said to her.
"Have they not got anything in your colour?"
And colourful is Rio De Janiero where the famous Freddie interview in 1985 with the quote "I'm just like a housewife" originated. Did you see the T-shirt the great man was wearing? Drenched with perspiration. Now I know he sweats on stage but I thought offstage he was the third coolest guy on the planet (second: Samuel L Jackson. first: The Fonz). Maybe a waiter passed by that Freddie fancied, I don't know?

Actually Freddie's correct quote was "If I didn't do this, I, I don't have anything to do, you know. I can't cook, I'm not very good at being a housewife."

I'm not normally as particular about these things but as the naturist girl brought it up.
We're both wrong.
The interview I was referring to was the after concert Rock in Rio report. Freddie answered Jan Ravens with...
"To me, y'know. It's just like a housewife. I go out there, do my job then come home."
