With the latest Dream Theater covers being released recently, I would love to see an album of Queen cover versions being released. This would be an album aimed at the UK mainstream market (in the main but would undoubtedly have wider appeal) but would seek to celebrate the diversity of Queen's music using well-established/recognised artistes in the UK.
OK, hold on - I don't mean the run-of-the-mill 'shite' which has seen release to date featuring relatively obscure artistes but those who have or have had a degree of success and recognition.
For example, I don't think for example I would have Queensrchye or Dream Theater on there but would have Keane, Metallica and Travis and a specially recorded Foo Fighters studio track (you know they would do it). Don't know what else is officially out there however which would make the grade!
Any thoughts on this or a potential track list or artistes who could be approached for a 'commission'. Just a bit of fun, but I would love to see something like this.
Aretha Franklin doing Somebody To Love, Freddie wrote it with her in mind apparently and I think it would sound fab.
Good idea for an album as long as you keep shit cheesy bands off it, keep it classy.
I'd like to suggest a spin on this - Queen (Brian, Roger and hopefully John too) recording an album of covers; Runaway from Q&PR could feature, plus maybe a studio version of their cover of Imagine performed live in 2005.
That's two songs for starters - any other suggestions??
