Thanks for posting that, i've always wanted to know what perth's papers said about the concert. Do you know if there is a review of it in the state library? I do not know if the library has papers dating back to the 70's.

We pretty well turned the state library upside down to find what we did. None of that stuff was an easy find many hours of digging around...from what I have seen and it was every WA paper in run at the time several weeks before the show and several weeks after - no reviews were done on the show. There was a prime focus on David Essex so most of the attention was on David. I think we were really lucky and I mean really lucky to find the Scene release Queen were in. It was just by not giving up we got our hands on it finally!
It was hidden right at the end of a series of papers at the very end of the reel as it was a seperate publication within the newspaper - so that is the best print publication we could really get for you was The Scene. Plus the photo of the boys in the article Educated Rock http://www.aussiequeens.com/archives/AQprintPerth2.htm
I am not sure if that is a stock photo or if it was of them in Perth! I am guessing taken in Perth maybe??? The boys don't look happy so they must be in Australia LOL
Thanks for the input it makes sense I could not think where it could be taken in Perth.
Oh and we checked out the radio stations whilst in Perth and bad news all main radio stations in Perth don't keep any archival material past 8- 10 years....so unless someone recorded any interviews on the radio on to tape there are no records held with the radio stations - and the state library does not have any audio or footage recordings of Queen in Perth in 76. We did manage to dig up some guy that claims to have Perth 1976 - he is busy trying to sell it off to the highest bidder at the moment....but to date he has sent no evidence of having the footage and the quality as he has told me is "it is so blurred it could be anyone on stage" - I can't be bothered dealing with these kinds of people so I will leave him to the archival buffs to sort that one out.
But that is the best we could dig up for the moment for Perth 1976.
I was interviewed by 6PR whilst I was over there working on the Perth 1976 stuff. The interview is here - sorry you have to register with an email - it is a requirement of the software we don't even look at the registration list for this part of the site. http://www.aussiequeens.com/stream/default.asp
You can always just sign up and listen to it and then unsubscribe from it or delete your account.
They were great and how we unearthed the so called Perth 1976 bootlegger
and yes I have spoken to him over the phone...he was surprised I tracked him down on that level but I'm letting him go our end we are not interested in buying his stuff that I am still yet to have any evidence he has such a recording - even offered to come and see it in person.
Whilst I have you on this post PG do you mind looking these signatures over for me I have had 3 emails saying they are fakes...link
this was another submission we got out of the 6PR interview with Gary Shannon.
thanks for your time and input much appreciated for the extra help.
