Birmingham theatre bosses are under pressure to find a home for a 15ft Freddie Mercury statue as it heads to the city for the summer.
Managers at the Hippodrome have to find a place for the Queen frontman after realising there was no room for the 680kg iconic image at the theatre.
It is offering businesses and fans across the city the chance of looking after Freddie for the next three months. All they ask is that the temporary home is in full view for visitors.
The statue has been at the entrance to the Dominion Theatre in London for seven years to promote the musical We Will Rock You, but as the production goes on the road to Birmingham, so does giant Freddie.
Rob Macpherson, director of development at Birmingham Hippodrome, said: “We have about a week to sort this out – if anyone can help us find a home for Freddie for this summer, please get in touch.”
The show is on at the Hippodrome from July 1 to September 5.
Anyone who can help the Hippodrome by offering Freddie a home in Birmingham is asked to call 0844 338 5011. link
