Would be interested on reading comments on what you think of Boyzone's recent performance of their Queen medley: link Personally this really makes me cringe - what the hell were they thinking of? I dread to think what we'll get next - maybe Borat to play Freddie Mercury in new biograhical film: link |

I reckon what we'll get next is Brian and Roger joining them on stage as specialguests in London. Oh Dear!!! |

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with other artists that cover a Queen song during a concert. I'm fine with that as long as it's done in a respectfull way. Robbie Williams, Mika, Katy Perry, Greenday, Foo Fighters etc all did queen songs during their live shows and all showed respect to Queen (and Freddie) But the thing Boyzone did is just not respectfull at all.. They should be ashamed of themselves. Really horrible. The suits, the moves, the "ice ice baby" - bit. Damn. I wonder if those tossers would have done the same if Freddie was still alive. |

HITMAN- I am for real. I have my opinion and you've got yours. I think that Boyzone are into Queen music (or Freddie alone) and they just wanted to pay respect to F.M. in their own way. Fair enough, perhaps it wasn't the best Queen medley ever performed but at least guys bothered to try and do that. Even Celine Dion & P!nk sang couple of Queen songs during their gigs, so, why not...?! |

Cheesy as f**k! However, kind of charming to see a tribute. You have to say without a doubt that Freddie would have loved it! |

My sister phoned me whilst at their gig in cardiff. Unfortunatly i couldn't make it out over the phone. She text me later and said it was wicked, and that i would of loved it. All i can say is that it was damn loud. Great to now that modern bands would rather play Queen songs than their own!!!!! |

The only worse insult I can think than this would have been if Westlife done the medley too. A bunch of over rated Kareoke singers. |

Reading other comments it does look like the majority appear to be a little concerned by the 'tribute'. |

Deary, deary me - just spotted this 'official' quote from Brian on his site: Actually I think the choreography is really interesting ... someone has really studied Freddie's moves closely and extracted the essence ... it's stylised, of course, which it would have to be ... but I thought it was very skilfully done. I'm amazed ... so much work has gone into this all round ... real passion in the singing .... it must be very impressive live. Some very respectable guitar playing too ... !!! OK ... I'll have to go see .... Cheers Bri I think I need to go away and have a pint or two of whatever Brian seems to be drinking at the moment. |

Hi, folks! While I do concur with Brian's stance of encouraging people to spread Queen's music and respecting people who try to carry it forward in whatever the way they can, I also think that he shouldn't have issued an endorsment. Sometimes, silence is the best way to go: a respectful silence. Just let them be and play whatever they want. Now, being such a musician, and confronted with a performance where, literally, I'm not joking, barely five verses must be in tune, he should not have endorsed it and he should know better: it does no good either for these guys, for Queen fans or music in general. If, out of politeness or other interests, one starts praising what musically doesn't deserve praise, what we'll get is more and more bad music. This does no good for people interested in music in general. I think it'd have been gross to say: "It's bad", or "it's crap". Ok. As far as respect is concerned, I agree with his stance and open-mindedness - but he didn't have to say anything. If Mick Jagger took the trouble to speak each time someone - and some of them are really great successful musicians - covers one of his songs, he'd have no time to live the life in the fast lane, as he does. :op I just think silence is good sometimes. Maybe silence is good now and I should stop writing, for instance. :-) If Brian were to say something, I think he could have highlighted the fact that the guys had the idea and the courage of trying some Queen songs, which is fine and is a sign that Queen's music is still alive, but then he could have made some light criticisms: "I think they can still improve a lot on this or that, but it's great to see that Queen still inspires people..." That'd be a good way of dealing with this. Now, saying or, worse, implying for lack of courage of simply stating it, that the performance was good isn't the way to go. This is my 0,0000000000000000000000000000001 cent. :)))))) Take care you all and have a great day! Yara |

i still want to know what Anita is slipping into Brians tea for him to like this crap? |
Sebastian 04.06.2009 13:42 |
Back to the version, I liked it, but besides Bo Rhap, they only chose the crappiest songs possible. I don't mean they've got to pick Hangman or Drowse, but what about Killer Queen, Don't Stop Me Now, Dear Friends, You And I... |
