I think that Johnny Depp would make a great Freddie, especially when he had long hair. I just hope that he doesn't sing and mimes instead. |

He's also had numerous relationships with women. In fact one of my problems with him is that he has been domesticated; no more trashing hotel room! LOL But anyway, even if he was gay, why would that make him qualified to play Freddie? I would rather a great straight actor play Freddie than a bad gay actor. (Not that Johnny isn't great of course.) |

Depp is a fully qualified homosexual, I've seen his certificates, he's the real deal. All of his well publicised romances have been clever media ploys to throw people off the scent, cunning! Depp is a pretty versatile actor, I reckon he would do a worthy performance as Freddie. If not him then who else? It has the potential to be very good, but could easily be very bad. I'm not convinced it will ever see the light of day |

He was dating music producer David Geffen in the past,so being married proved nothing at all. |

Johnny Depp would be a great Freddie. I think I read about him wanting the part and admireing Freddie's contributions to music - His makeup as Willy Wonka seemed an homage to Freddie's makeup in his "I'm Going Slightly Mad" video and the similarity is uncanny. |

No way, Christian Bale should play Freddie. |

True, Johnny Depp reminded me a lot of Freddie in that film. I think he might have modeled his look after Freddie... But where have you read about him wanting the part and admiring Freddie's contributions to music? I don't think it's been confirmed that he's on board yet... |

Heath Ledger just signed on to play the part. Sorry Johnny. |

Why do people keep thinking Johnny Depp would be the right actor to play Freddie Mercury in a film about Queen? He's way too old!!! He's already older now than when Freddie died!!!! Sure, there are CGI techniques to make actors look younger (see X-Men 3) but, c;mon...seriously. Any film about Freddie would surely need to show him at some point (even in flashbacks) in his late twenties (Freddie was already 27 when the first Queen album was released)...and as good as Depp looks for a man his age (46), he cannot pull of playing 28 or 29 years old..or even mid 30's. So, please, enough with the Johnny Depp to play Freddie requests. On top of that, sure, he does English accents, but I think any actor that plays Freddie should already be English. I think it should be an unknown actor if they ever do a film based on his life. |

i've never heard about a news about Queen movie, but i think it will be great! just a little suggestion, Lucas Grabeel can be the cast of Roger Taylor; Lucas quiet looks like young Roger except the hair |
Michael Allred 03.10.2009 14:28 |
Far far more likely "We Will Rock You" will be made into a movie first. |
mooghead 03.10.2009 17:38 |
Will not happen. Get it out of your head. It has only been 'proposed' by the fantasists on this board (of which there are many). Nothing to see here.... |

Brian in an interview the other day at Bristol Hippodrome, Said that "We Will Rock You" is in the works at the moment. Ben has elaborated on the script, making it adaptable for the big screen. If "Mamma Mia" can work on the big screen, I think "we Will Rock You" will, as long as they don't cast Pierce Brosnen, Meryl Streep & Julie walters into the roles. Shudder to think of Julie Walters going on about her Scary Bush. lol. |

Don't worry, they wouldn't be able to afford a Pierce Brosnan. And I don't think he'll be wanting the part either. Maybe they could get someone cheap like Keir Dullea or the guy that played John Boy on The Waltons. I bet they could use some work. |
buffypython 05.10.2009 13:14 |
Lucas Grabeel doesn't look like Roger! And I definitely can't see the closeted gay from High School Musical playing Roger! Besides, he wouldn't look old enough for the later parts. Unlikely as it is, I think his son Rufus could do a good job playing him, looks-wise. I'd love for someone to make this movie, (considering the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, The Supremes, and Johnny Cash already have movies) but I really don't think it's going to happen, at least anytime soon. Brian seems to be busy with foxes, black holes, and stereo photography, not to mention the WWRY movie that I think probably will happen, and Roger is.... well... I don't what he's doing but he seems to be lying low. Frankly, I'd love to see Deacy come from behind and produce the entire movie! [/img] It'll be ironic if they make WWRY, considering it's riding on the success of Mamma Mia, which is named after the song that knocked Bo Rhap off the charts! |

The fact is, if there ever was a movie to be made it would have happened by now, as each day passes interest in Queen and Freddie is on the wane. Can somebody please copy this whole thread so that it can be pasted into the next 'Queen Movie' thread. Thank you. |

HA HA HA , man you are a legend, that's the funniest thing I've read all week. Kier Dullea as Freddie John Boy as Brian Keith Chegwin as Roger Tony Danza as John with The Chuckle brothers as Norman and Barry Sheffield David Hasselhoff as Jim Beach Gary Oldman as Ratty June Whitfield as Mary Austin Directed by Michael Winner |

yeaaah right Rufus is better because he's really looks like Roger; he just has to grow his hair :) about the movie, whatever the movie is, We Will Rock You or a movie about Queen, i hope it will be present in Indonesia cinemas :) ---i always wait for it |

Remember that these actors cannot be much over 30 if they want to play the young guys as well. except for Depp of course.. his daily injections of pure money do not allow him to get older. |

ROFL!! And as for "interest in Queen and Freddie waning", I'm not sure I'd agree with that. Jack Black & some other guy (never heard of him before) just performed Under Pressure on The Jay Leno Show, Katy Perry has said many times that she's inspired by Queen, and Lady Ga Ga is named after Radio Ga Ga. There're still millions of people out there who've seen Queen in concert or who love their music and that will keep Queen in the public memory. |
