I also sold my standing area ticket for the Antwerpen show and bought a 25 euro (second hand) ticket instead wich only gave entrance to the standing places on the balcony at the back of the arena. At first this seemed an ideal place for shooting footage at the concert, but it soon turned out it wasn't: too many noisy people and a too much security. During the first 3 songs shooting decent footage without being caught seemed impossible so I had to hide the camera a few times. That's why the first 3 songs have cuts and bad sound. During "Tie your mother down" I took a little more risk and climbed over to the seats in the back of the arena. This turned out to be a very good decision: at my back and front and on my left and right side there where no people at all (the show didn't completely sell out). As a result of this the sound quality improves a lot from "Fat Bottomed Girls" onwards. No audience chats at all. "Time to shine" was played and the overall performance of this show was quit good (especially Roger Taylor!) So although I didn't like (and still don't like) "the cosmos rocks" album, and didn't like the 2008 tour as much as I liked the 2005 tour, my last ever Q+PR show was a good one! Having seen Brian May for the first time exactly 10 years prior the this show (Utrecht 98) and wanting to videotape him by that time already (but being unable to do so) this show was a nice end of an era for me. Please keep this recording lossless. No mp3! (unless it's for your own use) Trade and share this show freely! Don't sell it or pay for it! I'd say that your version has been recorded closer to the stage, so it's definitely worth downloading, thanks a lot. BTW why do you record audio with a video camera ? :-) |

The difference lies in the equipment used, an audio recorder for me, a video recorder for Dennis. I don't know what is the real difference between both (I always heard that video recorders put less emphasis on the sound and more on the video, whereas an audio recorder doesn't have the need to choose ;o)), but it's nice to have all those different versions of a show in existence, really interesting ! There are two other ones, both Martin's recordings (and he usually gets good results with his recordings). And maybe some others too !! Regards, Olivier, Belgium. |

Like I stated in the comment/story and info file, my recording is from the absolute back at the arena. I think Martin's recording is possibly the best (recorded from the standing area) but it has audience chatter and singing on it. In my opinion the definitive version would be a matrix from Martin's recording with the audience chatter and singing bits patched up with another recording (mine?)... |
Queenrockyou 17.05.2009 14:41 |
So we should ask Martin if he is ready to make his two own recordings available here, and then someone with a magic computer could try himself with a matrix, choosing from all the 5 versions that became available ? Peter ? Someone else ? Regards, Olivier, Belgium. |

Please note that the recording as stated on Queenconcerts.com 128:01 (68:01 + 60:00) Comment: Source: DVD track (Panasonic NV-GS27), almost EX- quality. is NOT my recording! This is the audio recorded with a Panasonic NV-GS17 videocamera from the standing arena (maybe you could correct that on the website Martin) So sources for the Antwerp 08 show so far are: 1 Martins edirol recording Lineage: SP-CMC-8 (Audio Technica ES943 cardioids) -> SP-SPSB-8 (bass roll off set to 95 Hz) -> Edirol R-09 HR (line-in) 24 bit / 44.1 kHz + some Goldwave work 2 Martins other recording Lineage: Lineage: Sony ECM-719 -> Sony MZ-R701 (mic-in) + some Goldwave work 3 Olivier's recording: Lineage: Church audio cardioid mic + preamp + Edirol R-09 HR. 4 Benn / aka Queenaddict's recording: Lineage: Sony ECM-S959C -> Sony Hi-MD recorder (set on LP4). Only G quality. 5 Panasonic nv-gs17 video recoding from the standing area. 6 Ducksoup's video recording (lineage stated above in this topic) |

It was an attempt to do a joke (that's why it ended my post with a smiley) and an attempt to find out if you plan to share also the video or just keep it for rare trades. I don't have Martin's recording (yet) so I can't do it but I hope someone takes the work |

This is a pretty good explanation why the sound is "different" |

I'm not a huge QPR-fan(I'm not collecting all recordings like I do with Queen) but I'm glad this show was well-recorded by several people because I was at this show:-) Scully said he was willing to upload one or more of his masters from the 2008 tour if people were asking for it. Maybe is uploading the recording of this show a good idea? thanks |
