ALL PROBLEMS HAVE NOW BEEN SORTED AND DOWNLOADS CAN RESUME. I know some of you had already downloaded CD1 (which I found no faults in), so I've re-upped everything and made it easier for you to just download Disc 2. These new uploads are still taken from the master CD - I carefully soaked the disc in warm water and peeled off the label. That seems to have solved the problem! Thanks to Sir GH for finding the faults on the original upload, and if you DO find anymore on this re-up, please tell me! (send a PM?) Thanks, This is a strange one. The concert was recorded on compact cassette with a cheap external computer mic (all I could afford), but for some reason the tape speed slowed down on the last side of the final cassette I used. I had to pretty much guess by ear what the correct speed of the final segment of the concert was, so if you think it doesn't quite sound right, I'm sorry, but I did the best I could at the time. The master cassette no longer exists - it probably got re-used for one of Roger's concerts the following year. The problem with cassette recording and using that particular microphone meant that everything was very bass heavy, so I always used the 3 part equaliser on my cassette walkman to take off some of the bass and add some mid range and treble to make it listenable. For sorting out the speed problem, I used soundforge. I know a lot of you prefer to have recordings as they were made, but these were recorded for my benefit and not anyone elses, and if it sounded crap i always did what i could to make it listenable. Bear in mind it was 11 years ago! I believe this is the only recording of Sheffield 98 that was made and it did circulate a little about 10 years ago and it was also available as MP3 in the hub back in the very early days. Perhaps some of you even bought a copy from Trancer? Either way, you now have the opportunity to have a direct rip from the Master CD itself. Nottingham 98 next - again from the master CDs and again, the only recording made that I know of. So. Lineage is: Cassette - PC - bit of messing in soundforge - CD - FLAC (level 8) Brian May Sheffield City Hall UK November 2nd, 1998 Dance With The Devil Only Make Believe C'Mon baby Space Since You've Been Gone China Bell Fat Bottomed Girls I Want It All Headlong Tear it up The Show Must Go On Bass Solo Last Horizon Love Of My Life Too Much Love '39/Driven By You On My Way Up Hammer To fall Guitar Solo Drum Solo Resurrection We Will Rock You Tie Your Mother Down Another World All The Way from Memphis With A Little Help From My Friends PLEASE KEEP IT LOSSLESS. I was fortunate enough to attend this show and the outstanding memories for me are the band's take on With A Little Help From My Friends and towards the end of the show stretching over a couple of people at the front to touch the great man's hand (starstruck I was!) Thanks for taping and particularly for sharing. I look forward to the Nottingham show. |

I use CryptLoad (also recommended by Alex some time ago) and it's really great thing! :-) |

Thank you for sharing. About Rapidshare: I prefer Mediafire but I think that Rapidshare have reduced the waitingtime to about 15 minutes, so it's not that bad anymore. |

Thanks a lot for sharing this! What app did you use to rip the CD-R to your PC? |

Alex Solan. wrote: Thanks a lot for sharing this! What app did you use to rip the CD-R to your PC? I used "Exact Audio Copy", but I'm loathe to use it again as it adds silences to the end of the tracks which I then needed to edit out in soundforge. Good job I checked a few tracks otherwise you'd all be complaining like hell! |

Thanks for the idea with the USDownloader. Unfortunately Rapidshare says that the limit of 10 downloads is full and no more download possible. Is there another place to get that programme? |

EAC doesn't add silences at the end of the tracks by default unless you ask the app to do it or you unintentionally pressed the wrong button at the configs! This is how the EAC options window should look for you: (to get there, go to EAC menu and then "EAC options..." or just press F9 key) http://img2.imageshack.us/img2/1324/th87.png" "border=0"> Good look next time ;-) |

Thanks for sharing! I've downloaded the last couple files so far, and they're almost pure digital noise... time hasn't been kind to your cds. Either that, or did you put sticker-labels on them at one point? Is this your only copy? |

The recording itself is quite good, though... so here's hoping he backed it up elsewhere. |

Sir GH wrote: Thanks for sharing! I've downloaded the last couple files so far, and they're almost pure digital noise... time hasn't been kind to your cds. Either that, or did you put sticker-labels on them at one point? Is this your only copy? Yes. Paper, fucking labels. Don't even go there. If I'd known back then that they weren't a good idea i wouldn't have used them, but no one knew better! I backed up all my own recordings on MP3 at 320kb (again, no one knew better!), but I also ran off some cassette copies for a few friends from the Master CD, and I do still have one of those. The only person I know who will still have a good copy on CD is Trancer, who i did a lot of trades with. Has anybody bought a copy from him? I've got access to another CD copy, so I'll try that. In the meantime I may as well delete the files and halt this download :( Thanks for pointing out the problem. I'll check my other recordings that were paper-labelled that i've ripped recently.... |

Just to be clear, the re-upped disc one is EXACTLY the same rip as the one in the old links. It's disc two that's a new rip. |

I also recorded this brilliant show on cassette and I still have the master somewhere. I definitely shared it online a few years ago (not here admittedly) so it should be "out there". I'll try and dig it out and re-upload anyway. |

That's brill Nige! Nice to know I wasn't the only person who recorded it. Did you do any others? |
