Sorry I'll turn this post into a general topic about Non hit Queen songs that I really like and that I'd like to share some opinions with you. More of that Jazz: I was listening and this is a great song by roger. Brian's riff it's exellent to me. And the lyrics really put you in that tired wasted feeling that Roger may want to express with this song. Anybody knows the story behind the lyrics? Or any information? Huh only football gives us thrills Rock and roll just pays the bills. Plus I found rare that there's a kind of complilation of every song at the end, what does that mean? What's your opinion about the song? |
thunderbolt 31742 03.05.2009 13:55 |
It means they were one song short of an album, and they had a half-finished bit by Roger that they made into a "clip show." Not my favorite song by any means. |
victor fleitas 03.05.2009 14:07 |
Great song! the guitar rif on one part, reminds me of the good old time playing doom 1, anyone who ever played a lot this game, just listen to the song and you will know what im talking about... xD |
Bo Alex 03.05.2009 15:44 |
A lot of people here in QZ hate this song. I think is OK. The guitar riffs are great but the lyrics are wek. Anyway, I think the clip with all the songs from the album is embarrasing, definitely a bad idea. |

What most of the people who hate the end of the song with that colage didn't notice is that that mix at the end follows the depressed or whiny lyrics. The song basically tells about a man who's at some point depressed and confused: If you're feelin' tired and lonely Uninspired and lonely If you're thinkin' how the days seem long All you're given Is what you've been given A thousand times before... and then at the end, the collage it's the same whiny and down feeling lyric but using the album's song, which I think it was a good idea but not great excecuted Oh no matter Fool got no business hanging round and tellin' lies Bicycle races are coming your way If you can't beat 'em join them Fun it Oh you're gonna let it all hang out Fat bottomed girls you make the rocking world go round No more no more no more Of that jazz... I wonder myself what was that "Jazz" that was bugging Roger that much.. |

The first time I heard that part I though the disk had been scratched or something. Not a clever idea indeed. Although “Fun It” is worse v

I actually quite like More Of That Jazz, same as other songs from Roger that don't use that many chords (at least, it sounds that way), Loser In The End & Fight From The Inside. The end section with all the parts from the other songs is a bit weird, but it doesn't really bother me. Oh, and Fun It is the worst song. |
MmP 03.05.2009 21:37 |
Woah, I really find this one and Fun it a great songs. To me the one that I enjoy the most about him. Obviously not the best lyrically but really enjoyable. Fun It it's catchy, and I love the lyrics. |

Delilah: First of all, I'd like to ask you guys if you have any clue how Brian did the meaow cat-sound with a guitar. It's just amazing. And his performance in this song is everything to me. Other than that I'd find the song weak, except from some extracts where Freddie pretty much nails it with the lyrics. But the music base it's a little common to me, especially coming from Freddie. It reminds me a little about his Mr Bad Guy songs, some of those seemed pretty much like average songs, they're missing something. But to me, as I said, Brian makes the song with the cat sounds and the solo. Pretty strong performance. Probably it's what I like the most about the song. If you read the lyrics they're pretty simple ones. There's no hidden messenge or something like the early Freddie stuff. Just him loving his cat. And that is another thing that came to my attention. I think that this song can pretty much sum up Freddie's life at that time. He became a very simple person, he left his flamboyance behind and did the things he really loved back then. He didn't care to make a song about his beloved cat. I'd like to read some of your comments about this song. Cheers |

many complain about rogers songs or voice. i cant imagine a album without them songs. feel, approche, style, taste ... 4 guys, 4 ways, ect... thats what made Queen, Queen ! |

It's funny because it makes reference to Freddie's promiscuous sex life, due to which he got AIDS, died and that -effectively- ended Queen. Nice touch... :) (My overexplaining is supposed to be a joke - reference to an incidental Family Guy character) |

So I recorded a song about my two cats, and I sent them to all my family and friends and everyone thought the song was okay for a song about cats, except my Mom. She told me she thought it was immature and fag like. Har har. But I enjoy the song, Delilah. I play it more than probably four or five other songs on Innuendo. |

This and All God's People really let down Innuendo a lot. Thank god for the forward button on CD players because both those songs are pretty embarrassing. |

Compared to the rest of the album, I can't understand why the guys thought this song, as the way it was "finished", was ok to be included. When you listen to the "Rocks retake" (fantastic, imo) the comparison is even more painful. |

Musically sounds weak, the vocals sound strained and the lryics were average. Not my cup of tea. All gods people on the other hand has all the queen trademarks, the middle section is great, guitar work is solid., vocals are very strong, though the lryics are shaky, it's still a good song. Headlong is ok, but nothing special. Same for the hitman. Innuendo is a great album, but overall doesn't match up well with the first 6 classics. |

My baby does me: A song I really like, very peaceful and I love that spin at the end with the lyrics. Does me good Then she hurts me so She winds me up and then lets me go Turns me on and then tells me no Shes just a pussy cat My baby loves me My baby loves me My baby cuffs me One day she tells me that she cares Another day she tells me she dont love me She really really does me Basically we find out why the girls "does" him so much at the end. It's good. The bass beating it's great. It sounds really like a basic song. Not much elaborated but it's very catchy. Nobody really likes this song, but I dunno why. It's obviously not the best musically but at least enjoyable. And I think the lyrics are quite accurate. Freddie voices sounds perfect for it. You can tell the improvement of his voice during those years compared with previous albums. Sounds much much cleanear. If he would have sung this one on The Works it'd probably hadn't gone out at all. What do u guys think?? |

My Fairy King: Well, musically this song kicks ass. I've always loved when Freddie and Roger put together their voices to create something good . Especially this one: Someeeeeeoooooneeee (Starts Freddie, ends Roger) Someeeoonneeeeee (Starts Freddie, ends Roger) Just drained the color from my wings Broken my fairy circle ring And shamed the king in all his pride Changed the wings and wronged the ties (Both) Musically there's a lot to say, but basically to me this one is one of the best from Queen, after Boh Raph. Nobody hasn't given it much attention, except fans. It has so much creativity from the Freddie's and Roger's voices in falsetto to Brian's use of the guitar in the intro and the ending. The musical part in the end it's just marvelous. Any opinions on this one? |

Listen carefully Sebastian. Starts with Freddie (I think on the right buffer) and at the end it's Roger obviously in the left buffer. |

my fairy king? i only like the part "mother mercury, look what they've done to me. i cannot run i cannot hide" some non Queen hits are my favorite also, like my current favorite, You Take My Breath Away and Seaside Rendezvous. and i found none of Queen songs which is really worst if they're compared with another songs in this world. :) |

Response to some of the earlier comments: I love More of That Jazz with such cool guitar riffs and hate that clip collage at the end....just ruins the song...wish QP would provide a version without that in the mix ...same thing with the instrumental for Machines... All Gods People and Delilah were the low points for Innundo IMHO....although like the guitar in Delilah and the blues bit in the middle of AGP My Fairy King is a great track - I swear the first album never gets the credit it deserves....fantastic....one metal book (Can't remember the name) cited it as one of the best Metal Albums ever.....wish they didn't deaden the drums on Great King Rat....a QP version of that with a different drum mix would be fantastic Could anyone imagine just how heavy of a song Prophet Song would be without the acapella in the middle? Just fantasizing....I love the whole song...but an edit would be just so cool as a standalone rocker... Also wish they did versions of the Flash songs without the movie talk in them...again kind of ruins the songs....as far as instrumentals go....my favourite has got to be A Dozen Red Roses For My Darling......great for driving....although may get you speeding tickets.... |
Knute 09.08.2009 23:15 |
My Fairy King is awesome. Thinking in terms of just album sides (sorry, but I grew up in the seventies listening to Queen on albums) then side one of the first album to me is probably the most "perfect" side in all their early albums. (The black side of Queen II is definitely right up there as well) There's just no comparing the greatness of their 70's stuff with their 80's stuff. It's night and day to me. It's like comparing Genesis' Supper's Ready with Invisible Touch..lol. |
mike hunt 10.08.2009 02:56 |
I agree, the first album is awsome. As far as best sides to a queen album, yea, side A of Queen, side black of Queen2, Side A of sheer heart attack, and Side B of A night at the opera might Just be the best of the bunch, Side A of a day at the races is another Gem. |
