Thought it'd be interesting to start a list going of owners of this little gem. If you own a copy - why not put your name down on this list - using your Queenzone tag and Country and number. ** Brian has been contacted and I'm awaiting word on if he has a copy of this (thanks to Jen Tunney). ** I'll edit this list when/if it grows. ============================================ #0026 GT UK #1133 Gastelllo USA, MD #1337 Odessa Ukraine #1343 Odessa Ukraine #1362 fairydandy UK #1419 invisible_man Netherlands #1420 Rien (MercuryParadise) Netherlands #1426 Vessel USA #1631 Erin USA #1752 Jen Tunney UK (Webmaster, brianmay.com) #1753 Jen Tunney UK (Webmaster, brianmay.com) #1770 Micrówave USA #1801 Jacob Britt USA #1805 DragonOnMyBack UK #1818 GT UK #1821 Reid_Special_98 Canada #1885 gr8kingrat USA #1977 DragonOnMyBack UK #2231 NCC1701Q Netherlands #2234 Hen Scotland #2291 Jared Yates USA #2296 Vali Spain #2308 nevemore evermore Birmingham, UK #2424 mow955 Portland, USA - Now in Wales. |

Hastings is a national book, games, music and software store here in the U.S. It's kinda like Barnes & Noble. link |
vessel 02.05.2009 12:58 |
One cool thing about Hastings is that if you have old books or cd's you no longer want, you can sell them to Hastings and get store credit or cash. So if you don't want to pay $20 for a new cd you could get a used copy for half that price or more. I bought a used "The Crown Jewels" at Hastings once for $30 which my ex-wife sold behind my back. They have a lot of Queen on their website both new and used. |

I don't think it is that difficult to get one of these CDs with a lower number than 1426. Right now there are 3 on Ebay in the #200-#220 range. I think the number probably has more to do with which shop you bought it from than anything else. Except maybe for the really low 2 digit numbers. Did you buy yours #1801 from a shop located in Florida by any chance? Actually that would be another interesting stat to track. Where where each of them bought? |

I bought it on eBay... it came from either Florida, California, or some place warm down south. That's all I remember. I went on a recent spending spree on eBay (thousands of dollars spent), so I had my Mother change my password as I'm a compulsive buyer and couldn't stop. |

Thanks everyone so far who's replied so far...this has actually gotten a bit interesting. Just a note - I've been in contact with Jen Tunney who's graciously given her numbers -- and she has also emailed Brian to see if he has a copy (or multiples). Anyway...keep 'em coming !! |
Micrówave 13.05.2009 11:04 |
So, what... that's it? It's a fairly cheap CD Single that is very cleverly put together. Where are our regulars and why are they not buying? Thumbing your noses at Brian and spending your money on Maroon 5 CDs instead? I understand not rushing out to get the new Montreal DVD coming out in six months, but... C'mon fatty, John Stuart, Barb, Richard, P_G, Zebonka, Ducksoup, even Greg Brooks and he probably gets his free!!! Peel yourselves away from the digital side and don't be afraid. You'll probably never play it, but it looks cool. It will sit on your Queen shelf for years and years and probably never be worth much more than half of what you paid for it... but it looks cool. |
Pim Derks 13.05.2009 15:33 |
I'd buy it for a normal amount - I'm not paying $25 + shipping or whatever they're going for at the moment on eBay for a single which sold for $8 or something less than a month ago |

Well I have the original vinyl single and one on cd-single but I bought the RSD version after seeing a picture of it here on Queenzone. The single LOOKS stunning as if it's a real vinyl single. Also the back of the single is rather odd... it's not "silver" but black. All just like a real vinyl single. If you can get you hands on it, just buy one I'd say! |

(I doubt that). But let's say you ARE being serious. I'll give you a serious reply: Queen's first EP contains music wich was recorded on analogue format. In my opinion (and many other people who prefer vinyl over cd) the most natural and logical format to listen to that type of recordings would be vinyl. Being the owner of a near mint original 7" copy with beautiful original artwork on 7" sleeve in all honesty, I can't think of any reason to buy a limited edition cd single. In my eyes that's an inferior copy of the original one (wich is lovely) To me personally, I doesn't make sense at all to buy such an item. |

But then I don't just own the News Of The World album. I have the UK & US pressings, three different cassette versions, the EMI CD, the Hollywood re-issue, the MSFL CD, and an 8-track. It made sense to buy all that stuff to me, but I should have just stopped with the album, eh? |
