1. Somebody to love (milton keynes bowl '82)
"Are you ready brothers and sisters ?" - a barmy summer evening with freddie in fine voice and an Aretha - esque improvised intro - when the band finally crashed into the song we nearly drowned them out!
2. Seven seas of Rhye (Birmingham NEC '84)
They hadn't played this for sooo long - immaculate piano intro from Fred, a real surprise, people went absolutely crazy. The PA was suspended from the ceiling - I was right underneath it, Jesus they were loud that night. My ears rang for days.
3. Love of my Life (milton keynes '82)
Beautiful Fred vocal - real love and rapport between audience and performer. Complete with 'Las Palabras de Amor' intro from Brian clearly miffed that the rest of the band did not want to play it that night.
4. A Kind of Magic (Wembley '86)
The best song on the night. It was always a thrill to hear how they played the new stuff and this didn't disappoint. Excellent extended solo from brian and we danced! Could have done without the inflatables though - couldn't see the band.
5.Stone Cold Crazy (Birmingham NEC '84)
Another resurrected oldie - Freds best vocal on the night and Brian played the riff brilliantly - much heavier than the studio recording.
6.Now I'm Here/Dragon Attack (Milton Keynes '82)
Fantastic Brian guitar sound for rythmn and lead - great solo work during 'Attack', wonderful singalongafred moment - alot of witty banter in the crowd. "Hey Freddie did you know it costs £5 for a carton of fucking orange juice?".
7.Staying Power (Milton Keynes '82)
A triumph in the face of adversity - they real worked their socks of on this and we loved it. Tight as Britney's trousers.
8.Under Pressure (Wembley '86)
Just a faithful rendition played well. I was standing next to some Metal kids from yorkshire - "Naa dunt like this - they shud play it eavier " ha ha.
9.The Hero (Milton Keynes '82)
There was I, 18 years old, dedicated Queen fan, never seen them before. The Stage when silent as the backing music was turned off then Flash thundered out over the PA and when the band came on - joining in with tape - 27 years later I still can't describe that feeling. The whole audience must have leapt 6 feet in the air.
10. Hello Mary Lou (Wembley '86)
Odd choice this I know but again it was quite a surprise - Queen were often at their best live when they surprised people but this version of the Ricky Nelson song was wonderfully played with marvelous harmonies. The boys from Yorkshire didn't like this either.
sheffield city hall 2/11/98 Brian May playing the opening riff of Since You've Been Gone, WOW! my first gig and iwill never forget that moment......EVER!
1. WISHING WELL (Hamburg, Color Line Arena *05)
Paul and Queen in Hamburg !! I must go to the first concert in my life !..and surprise~ : Paul sing for the first time *Wishing Well* during the tour~ my favourite song from the Band *Free* in the 70s....! After the concert... I was really shocking and cried 3 days ! ~~ I*ve decided...I*ll never go again in a concert with Paul, because he looks so unnatural as a Rockstar !!!
I am in 1st row stage center area and throughout the whole concert another guy toward Deacy's side of the stage keeps yelling "Black Queen" ! Every chance he could "Black Queen"..."Black Queen" ! And He was pretty loud. Freddie sits at the piano and before he plays BORap he actaully bangs out the keyboard part of
"Do You mean it....Do you mean it" It was fricking AWESOME !
(oh yeah....and earlier in the night I was able to 'slap five' with the bands's lead singer - true - true)
