I really enjoy listening to it, the power in Freddie's voice it's just amazing. Brian's RS also gives a lot in the song in terms of energy.
I think is one of the Queen's late piece of art but I think it's very underated among Queen fans.
I heard also that Brian and Freddie never really liked it. Dunno why, do you?
I'd like to read some of your opinions on this song.
I hate the intro with the film crap. It could of been single material if that wasn't in it!
It was John and Freddie that don't like it according to Queenzoners, but, in reality, I heard it was just Freddie that didn't like it. After a while, people said John didn't like it either, but that's Queenzone for you! If Freddie hates something, so does John. That's how people think at least.
Brian wrote it and LOVED it! He actually thought it was the next Bohemian Rhapsody. He got mad everytime the band decided not to release it as an A side to a single.
Apart from 'Princes',its my favourite song on the album,it rocks like a Muthe F@%$er,and Brians guitar sounds possessed, especially in the solo, meshing beautifully with the bag pipes..............

I am not really crazy about Freddie's vocal, I think it was over-wrought, did not have enough anger, did not sound tough, and was too clownish.
what are you talking about? it has the most aggressive clean vocals on any song EVER!

Factoid: # of occasions TM lost all musical credibility simply by using ridiculous rhetoric: 842 and counting.

Actually Brian himself said in a Japanese magazine (1986) that John wasn't crazy about it either.

I'm not a fan of the movie quotes throughout the song. Otherwise, it's a nice rocker, and would have made a solid concert intro if the band had wanted to give One Vision a break every now and then (and, you know, if Freddie hadn't hated the song).
Great song! I always liked it - even when I first time heard the album. Princes of the unvierse I liked only when I found the liryc. But the last words are AFWUL - there can be only one - nauseating voice, sorry, Chris
I like it, although I don't love it. In my view, Princes of the Universe has always been a much better song, but Gimme The Prize is still a cool rock song.
