These are some of the ones I'm going to, the first two I already went to. Metallica (January) Fleetwood Mac (March) Simply Red (March) Franz Ferdinand (May) No Doubt (June) Depeche Mode (twice ...and possibly 3 times in August) I also look forward to see when they announce tour dates around New York... Green Day Billy Joel & Elton John U2 (although I'm partially considering on boycotting them) I expect Jessica's list to be quite long :-D |

And this fact only put me off the concert. She's disgusting, absolute pop of the pops, elderly Britney Spears or even worse. It was a silly move for S.R. to invite such a worn-out, got-everybody-tired-of-her kind of star. And, please, why would you boycot U2??? |

I saw Take That live, quite by error last week. I've gone off gigs, a bit. Would like to see Morrissey. Oh, I saw Russell Brand in February. I've got tickets to see Michael MacIntyre in November, if comedy counts... And I've seen Les Miserables about 10 times this year, and I'm pretty sure I'll be going again veeeeeeeeeery soon. So, from that, I think we can all agree that my idea of a "gig" is somewhat different to everyone elses. I like theatre and comedy. |

Believe it or not I'm going to a gig in May. The Killers Probably that's the only concert I'll get to this year, since I live in the middle of NO WHERE with no car and in rural American public transit doesn't exist. As it is, I have to rent a car to get to Kansas City to see The Killers. Super psyched about it though...their new album is SWEET! :-D |
Yara 23.03.2009 15:32 |
Yesterday Radiohead played here in the city. I'm a big fan, really, and I got to see them twice while I was overseas and never thought of losing any of their concerts if there were the slighest chance to go, but I just didn't feel like going to the gig. I'm terrified. Friends had a seat reserved and I pass it on to another friend of mine. It was sunday night, raining, kinda cold, and I was feeling so damn great in the blankets and really having a rest, without worrying about anything other than resting. I was really, actually, seriously tired. Tired. It's age, that's what it is: age! Age is taking the best of me. I don't have even a small % of the energy I used to display and enjoy in my prime. Really. I have been always such a gig-goer and party-goer. Yesterday I sounded just like my mom used to, when she didn't feel like taking me to the park, to a party, to a trip or even to a nice bicycle circuit, and I couldn't help but laughing at myself as I remembered those days: "Oh, Yara, you have to set yourself limits, it's never enough for you, you're always wanting more, it's sunday, mom is tired...". I did exactly the same. And I started laughing because the guys looked at me as if they were listening to what their parents used - or still use... - to say. But I have already gone to some gigs. I plan to go watch Oasis for the umpteenth time next month, just for the fun of it - they advertise their coming by insulting every single artist who performed here recently, including Radiohead and, specially, U2. They are funny. I must say I always have a good time and some good laughs, the guys are funny, or at least I find them funny in a very strange, disturbing way, because no one else seems to find much fun in their attitude, so to speak. So even if I don't like the music, I end up having fun - I love going to concerts of bands I either hate or don't have a clue about. The Jonas Brothers are coming too. I go more often to classic music venues, not only because of personal taste, but for academic and professional reasons as well. But, well, I do plan to watch OASIS and maybe U2, it seems they will come. Well, I'm not exactly a fan of the band, I've been to one of their concerts before, but, well, it's...important to go. It's what I do in life after all. Listening to music, writing about music, playing music, singing music and all to the point of not wanting to listen to people talk by the middle of the year. :)))) Nah, I'm just being silly. OASIS and U2, even though I don't like the songs, will be fun to watch, I think. Someone told me there were more bands planning to play here but that's something I have to confirm. As for classic, jazz, country and even some pop artists, well, that's my field, I love going to these gigs - Not long ago we had Diana Krall, Norah Jones, Madeleine Peyroux, some fine jazz artists; the Maria Schneider Band, which I simply adore and love, and there's a rumor she's bring back the troops to invade the country with awesome music again, but that's only far ahead in the schedule, about october and november. So...I keep you updated? :) |

I wasn't actually thinking of going to this show, but I ended up getting tix for the second date at Giants Stadium. Truth is... I love seeing Muse live, even though they are not the headliners. ...and I hope U2 plays a lot of the early 80s stuff, which is definitely their best. I also hope Bono keep his yap shut about Africa. It's not like I don't care about poverty, but I don't need a millionaire rock stars making me feel bad about people in need when I just spent 100 bucks to watch them perform. P.S. I'm more than sure that if Muse won't headline dates in the States in 2009, they will do for sure in 2010. |
Erin 02.04.2009 22:09 |
Tickets for the GA Dome U2 show go on sale Monday. Although Atlanta is slightly closer, I'm wondering if it would be better to go to the Raleigh show. Surely, the stadium would be smaller. I don't like the thought of waiting in a herd of general admission people, but I'd want a good spot. Hmm....what to do? |

I've never been to this venue before, so I'm not sure. Yeah, Pieter was going to record the Pittsburgh show, but when we saw people getting patted down, he took the minidisc thing back to the car. Yeah I was going to record some shows, but my minidisc recorder is too large to hide easily. The main battery also died so I had to rely on the batter add on pack that I have, which makes it even bulkier. On top of that I would have to switch out discs in the middle of the show. More hastle than it's worth IMO. |
