First of all, I'd like to turn to the Administrators of this forum asking them to tell me if this post does breach in any way some of the rules for non-commercial threads. May I just take the liberty to explain why I opened this topic at first place. Several years ago, when an Italian girl, named Laura published a book dedicated to Freddie I found the information about it right here and was just as happy as anyone to see how the torch of inspiration amongst Queen fans has been carried out. Therefore, I hope I will neither offend, nor annoy anyone if I share with all of you the greatest joy of my life so far.
I have just published a book dedicated to Freddie too (on 5th of March). Please note, it is dedicated to, not about! In fact the content tells pretty much about how I managed to overcome his loss over the years and how I managed to develop my own talent (as far as I have it) led by nothing but the "lessons" I have found for myself in his (their) music. Understandably, due to some author's concerns I didn't name the book with Freddie's real name but I have found enough poetic substitute for it.
I would also like to apologize for the killing cost that the publisher decided to put to the printing issue due to the fact that it is a color edition. However, the book is also available for download on much more affordable price.
So in case that it does not contradict with the policy of queenzone, I would like to kindly invite you to visit my small on-line book shop on link.
Thank you very much for all your attention and support and to many of you - for your friendship through the years.
You are very much allowed to show of your book. I believe Freddie was (and stil is!) an inspiration for all of us.
I would love to see an example.. I am not really into poetry. But hey, it is dedicated to Freddie. Maybe i am 'stupid' enough to buy it, just like i did with TCR;)
hahahaha, kosimodo, this was a very nice reply - thank you so much! I believe that the book will be most valuable to people who actually remember the time when Freddie passed away. At least this is what it is all about, and the ways, I myself overcame it.
I don't think you've breached any rules on Queenzone.
But I do think you may have breached the rules of ethics.
That being said, I would (for example) buy a book of published poems by WK Mahler, but not because he dedicated it to Bruce Springsteen, but because we've seen many examples of his fine craft here on this website. And I don't think that he would non-chalantly drop that name just to increase the number of hits to his website from random web searches.
If that's not why you did it, perhaps you could give us a sample of your work and writing style here, rather than direct us to shell out $40 just because you dedicated it to Freddie. Either way, best of luck.
I don't ask you to buy it. Samples are available on the web-site mentioned - this is NOT a writing forum to post them here. This has been 10 years of hard work and I thought that the forum is the most logical place to share that it is out at LAST. And don't talk about my ethics too much because I've seen you - you are mean just to everyone here in these boards, and this is not ethic either.
Thank you for the support and the understanding, beautifulsoup! I only wanted to add that it is not me who determines the price - it is a "second deluxe edition" thus the killing figure! However, I managed now to make it available for download on much more human price. In fact the only thing I really wanted was more people to know how much I loved and still love Freddie.
