Hope you don't mind me saying hi. Never really ventured into this neck of QZ b4.
Nice to have a place to just hang out and talk mince. I've not seen many of you in the Gen or Ser sections...have you DID Queen to death lol?
I'm from Scotland, 30 y o, bar manager. I love Queen, Elvis and Dr. Hook among many others... inc Bowie who is a God among men.
Fav city is Paris.
I love drinkin absinthe (not on duty of course).
I don't take myself too seriously... can't be arsed with peeps who don't enjoy life.
I like QZ cos it lets me unwind from stress of job... can't believe I've never once been to this section in many a year lol... must make up for lost time.

I'll bite. What is your favorite absinthe. Here in the states, we're just getting used to it because it's freshly legalized. I'm working on a bottle of Kubler 53 right now. I have also been through a good bit of Lucid following a lengthy relationship with Mr. Breaux (the mind behind the brand if you are not familiar).
You're right on about the website being fun. There's a lot of nice people, interesting threads to read and interesting things to listen to. I'm ALWAYS on duty - I now write from school whenever there's a break or I have to use the computer to do some assignment and I feel the need to take a break. Well, I don't have the chance, therefore, to drink any kind of alcoholic beverage most of the year, but absinthe for sure has an interesting history to it and quite respectful aristic representations - either of the drink, or its effects or its consumers.
I remember my country more or less legalized the beverage in late 2007. I had never tasted it so I decided to give a try, and well, I liked it, it was quite good, I enjoyed it. It tastes good, it feels good, it's nice. Thing is, I love wine, but here it's so damn warm that it's impossible to drink it even when you do have time and so on. You get waisted on a single glass of it, and then you don't feel like drinking anymore and wait for cooler times.
So I've been drinking a silly orange juice here that is so addictive...I don't know what they put in there, and you can see them preparing it!!! The guy here who works in this kind of small eating square, it's inside the campus, I don't know what'd be the word for that in English, but anyway the guy laughed at me when I said to him that those were oranges from hell!
Really. I know know if it's the hot climate or something, but it's addictive, this thing, and it's an orange that, if you take a look at it, there's nothing special about it, it's just like any other orange. :))
Nice to read this post! Bye! Best Regards and have a good time!

Mike
Hi Mike, my mate brought me some miniatures from around Europe... various colours from Eastern Europe which all packed a hefty kick.
Not proper branded, most just say Absinthe Red or Green. I always thought you just got it GREEN but obviously not. The red one truly fucks you up. I snuck some into another bar and before you know it I was up singing Kind Of Magic like I was actually Freddie himself... my mates said they'd never heard Queen sung so bad... fuck it!

What could possibly be in Absinthe that would make it red? Mine is completely clear. Vodka clear. Lucid had a very slight greenish tint. For whatever reason, we don't get the cheap stuff over here.
I hear ya about the crazy singing stuff... except replace Queen with Jethro Tull... And replace bar with the streets of Philadelphia. I was jolly, to say the least. LOL
