ive come up w/ something! someone should go around Brussels, Rotterdam, Madrid, Munich, Paris, Japan, Budapest, Mexico, and other places with Queen archives in their TV archives and buy them ALL. Then our little agent or G.B. should sell them to Queen Productions LTD. Then we would have more releases without worring about not havin the material.Problem Solved :) |

You accidentally put this in the Serious section. |

To be honest, it's not such a stupid idea. TV stations around the world have tons of video and audio material of live shows that were filmed, if only in snippets, for news broadcasts, documentaries, gigs that were shown on tv etc... Some of the gigs will undoubtedly already be copyright of QP, but some of the overseas TV companies WILL sell footage that is of no use to them and that they own. Even if the content of the tapes is copyright to QP, the physical tape that it is recorded on is owned by the TV company, and so they can sell it if they wish. If for example I bought such a tape, as the owner I could then sell it to QP, or anyone else I see fit. However if the material on the tape is already copyright of QP, I couldn't use it, but QP couldn't insist that I hand it over either as I own the tape. Even if it were sold to QP, this doesn't in any way of course mean that QP will release it! At least if such an exercise were undertaken, some of the material would be passed around collectors and hubs etc.. to those who want to see it |

Right, go ahead. We're not stopping you. Oh, wait. Are you expecting someone else to do all the research, all the trips and spend all the money? |

Channel 3 from Rosario owns the show from 1981 and unseen interviews that an interviewer called Carlos Bermejo did to Freddie in a central hotel(100% confirmed) |

and Greg was given the contact address to this channel, and the contact email/phone to Carlos Bermejo - we can only guess what happened... (nothing as usual) |

OK I'm buying the '81 and the Rock in Rio footages only. Not because I don't have the money to buy everything, but because I'm lazy. (And it's sunday. Afternoon. *Drum roll*. *Cymbal crash*). |

(nothing as usual) Wow that's real great news it would be wonderful to see those 81 shows But there's one thing I don't understand about those TV channels : why would they keep all of those shows in archives and never broadcast them ? (except that using small fragments of these shows In Documentaries) |

(nothing as usual) You can give Greg all the info he needs and he can arrange to get hold of it... but WE'RE never going to see it. So I wouldn't get too bothered about anything - Queen Productions have no interest in releasing anything their fans would be really interested in because they're so greedy they'll only release things that very casual fans will pick up in Asda on a whim. |

You're right may be we're going to see another re-re-re-released of a re-re-re-remaster version of ANATO, |

TV Bandeirantes doesn't even have a copy of the Morumbi concert anymore, I suppose... probably the masters were recycled or deleted to save space - this if they even kept the original footage and not just the crappy edited version seen everywhere. Even if they did, it's QPL property as I've once asked them (around 2000 I think). They buy these things not to be released in the future, but to prevent people making money. |

Yeah , like Rock Montreal you mean ?? And Crappy footage of Live Aid (I thought QP we're concerned about quality btw , It seems the Live Aid show has no value for them to also restore this is a misery to me !) I suppose QP management doesn't care for money then based on your statement ? (don't forget the singles-box-set - wasn't meant to make money either , yea right! ) |

I certainly think that "Queen" or the record label should at least give us some "Official" live 1970's footage. They could at least give us the Earls Court and Houston show from 1977. The Hammersmith Christmas shows from 75 and 79 as well. This is long overdue and it's about time. If they want to stop the bad bootlegs from flooding the market, then this should be done. By the way, when are we gonna get the "Queen" anthology or ultimate box set? The Beatles Anthology video/DVD set was great and around 12 hours long. Why can't we get something like this for "Queen"? The footage is definitely there. |

Unfourtunately EMI have no control over what is released, aside from saying "we're not releasing that". It's safe to say that if EMI owned the band's back catalogue and footage we'd have seen plenty of decent releases by now. Same with The Beatles. If the problem was actually with EMI, QP would be free to release previously unreleased material via anyone they wanted to, as EMI only have the exclusive rights to what is already released. |
