Does anyone know which snare drum Roger used on No One But You. Doesn't sound like his usual ludwig sound, got a bit of a noble & cooley crack to it, or may it's a sleishman as he was using those drums at the time.
Cheers,
Always hated that kit, saw him in notttingham on the "Electric Fire tour" and he used it then, to be honest it was just big and VERY loud. Give me his Yamaha 9000 (Black) Every day of the week.
Well all we actually know is what he used on the video, which was the sleishman (or however you spell it!) what he used in the studio is not known.
He has pretty well always used the Ludwig 6 1/2" maple for most of his career, even when he uses another kit that snare comes out, the recent tour saw him using the DW snare a couple of times then back to the Ludwig again
The Freddie Mercury Tribute kit is the one you want. Can't fault a single piece of it! Closely followed by the 2005 one, yes I know it's practically the same. As for the DWs, not really a DW fan, they're too clean. I agree on the Yamaha though I'm not really a fan of Pinstripes, stick some ambassadors on it and it would sound much better.
Glad he kept the snare drum on this DW kit, I have the very same one and it's fantastic. But it's definitely not that snare on No One But You, it sounds much shallower, though to be honest I've never tried to get that sound out of the Ludwig, so maybe it is possible.
