I lost my 2 DVDs. I had the whole BBC broadcast, including interviews, backstage banter, i.e. the whole thing. Damn! |
greataddict 05.02.2009 16:11 |

greataddict wrote: Any chance to see a torrent out of it or is this the kind of trading stuff? thanks for the aswers... cheers Double no. About 70-80 % of it was officially released, I don't think someone will torrent it here |

feared so... well, how about the pieces that weren't event on the VHS? I'd love to see Spinal Tap performance, as, when I listen to the recording, I just can't understand how they manage to stay together, with such a tempo difference! Do you think their is any way? Rick tells about a double DVD, is there any chance to find it? |
Rick 06.02.2009 11:51 |
Well, my uncle has the original broadcast on 2 VHS tapes. I had them transferred some years ago. Unfortunately and mysteriously, I lost them. I should transfer them again in the nearby future. Oh by the way, the whole performance could be uploaded to sites like Piratebay. |

I've been searching for the original source for years :) The transfer was very "blocky", it would be perfect if you could do a 3-4 DVD transfer with PCM sound :) In the case you wanna do it and you trade, please let me know :) |

Seeing as I never traded my DVDs. Merely for personal use as I really wanted to have the full thing. My version was really enjoyable, not "blocky" as you pointed out. I will contact my uncle as soon as possible. I have a week off next week, meaning time enough for transferring. Will do the best quality possible, even if that means using 3 DVDs or more. :) |
pittrek 06.02.2009 13:31 |
If you're talking about the 2DVD set which is circulating, it looks great on a normal TV, but it's really blocky on a LCD, I don't even wanna know how it will look on a HDTV :) But it would be great if you could re-transfer it and "make it available for some people" :) |
Rick 07.02.2009 08:53 |
Will do my best :) |

I think *I* might be the source. ;-) Though someone else made the transfer. Still have the original tapes! (But I do not have the equipement myself to make the perfect transfer from VHS to DVD...) |

i was googling for the complete show to see if it was available....and this thread was one of the results :D dear pittrek, rick, jjeroen - you managed to do something? |

I still have the whole show on VHS but i didn't watch it for years. The whole show was broadcast by the BBC but it was broadcasted in mono, and also recorded in mono. I know there are a lot of differences, noticeable at Somebody To Love when George Michael hit that high note and the audience sang...the camera shots were different. Check this version at 3:50: link and this version at 3:50: link I do have the tools to capture them to a pc but the quality is not that good i am afraid. |

I also have the original broadcast on hi quality VHS unwatched since about '93. Must get around to transfering that. Also - Spinal Tap in the Jonathan Ross show from channel 4 sometime in early '92. Bad days, man. |

I recorded the German broadcast live in 1992, never watched it again but should be complete, if anybody is interested in doing a digital transfer |

From what I remember the BBC TV broadcast was mono, and the RADIO broadcast was stereo. Or was it a different concert ? |

pittrek wrote: From what I remember the BBC TV broadcast was mono, and the RADIO broadcast was stereo. Or was it a different concert ?There was a simultaneous broadcast on radio and TV for Wembley 86 as far as I remember. Perhaps that's what your thinking of? I just had a quick listen and it is in stereo on my VHS recording. I can't remember if it was a live broadcast as I was at the concert itself so perhaps would have set the timer on my VCR. In any event, it's only a three hour tape so I must of edited it. I was lucky enough to get a free tribute dvd as I had my name credited on it for supplying photos :) I also got a name credit on the GH3 CD limited edition for doing the same thing, but sadly no free cd that time :( |
