Did anyone here think that Freddie in the 70's and in the 80's were two different people?
I thought that in only one day because after that I found out they were the same person!
Further more, I thought he wore a fake overbite in the 70's (in We will rock you promo video).
When I was a kid, I actually did. Until someone (I think it was my mom or one of my relatives out east) told me otherwise when I was looking at the booklet for 'Classic Queen' and asking who the guy with the moustache was (seriously!).
This was, um, over 13 years ago or so I think!
Although Freddie looked very different in the respective eras, I always knew it was the same person. However, I was confused for a while as to when he grew his mustache. At first I thought he grew it around 1977, then I found it later he grew it in 1980.

Age is not a good enough reason. Brian May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon all looked reasonably the same throughout the 70s, and 80s.
Freddie however changed so much you could mistake them for different persons. Not only his look changed, but his voice also changed. Very strange.
And then in the 90s, Freddie once again looked like another person, looking neither like the 70s, nor 80s version.
Weird.
That is true actually.
The most known image of him is the 80's look, and it was the only one I actually knew of him... a while ago, I was watching some video of Queen live on YouTube, and my mom arrived and said that Freddie had long hair in the 70's, and I found it hard to believe, so she insisted that we looked for a video of him with the long hair - I was annoyed because I wanted to keep watching the video - we didn't know on which song he appeared with long hair, so we wrote "Freddie Mercury 70" or something and couldn't find anything. It was some days afterwards that I found those videos... and only the image of the cover of Queen II (because of the Bohemian Rhapsody video) was the one I knew.
Good that there isn't something similar to the "Paul is dead" thing about Queen. or many people whould really believe that Freddie had died in 1980 and been replaced...
