Hi folks, many people requested this and since I promised a Christmas gift to you, here you are : Queen : Live At Earls Court, London, UK - 6. & 7. June 1977 (pittrek remastered edition) Review from QueenLive.ca : Queen capped off the A Day At The Races tour with two shows at London's Earls Court Arena. The band dropped ?50,000 on a new lighting rig, which was a giant crown on top of the stage. The music of Chopin (Freddie's choice) plays as the audience enter the venue. At this point, one can barely see the stage, as the crown is only a few feet above it, with black drapes below it, so you couldn't see anything on stage (perhaps causing audience members to wonder where the band will be playing!). Procession is heard (revived only for the Earls Court shows, and never to be used again), and then the usual ADATR overture rings through the speakers. Part way through, the crown slowly begins to rise, and out comes the dry ice (the fourth picture above was taken during this moment; Brian later recalled that hearing the ADATR overture is when they would get nervous, as they knew they were about to go on at any time!). Queen then burst onto the stage to perform Tie Your Mother Down, and the show goes on as usual. Tonight the band cover Elton John's "Saturday Night's All Right For Fighting" during the Jailhouse Rock medley. Freddie apparently emerged from a trap door (sporting his dazzling silver lurex outfit) at the beginning of the medley, but the videos from both nights unfortunately don't focus on him during that moment. The whole band (especially Roger) are a joy to watch during the medley. At the end of the show, the lights continue to sparkle as the crown descends to its original position. Freddie's voice is in pretty good shape tonight, but he has problems hitting a few of the higher notes, unlike the Bristol and Glasgow shows. You can feel a slight tension in the air; nothing like Hyde Park, but they (especially Brian) still seem a bit nervous at times. It has been said that this is one of the band's greatest shows, but we must bear in mind that the high quality of the recording has made us impartial to this one. Still, there are many incredible moments throughout. Brian's Brighton Rock solo is one of his best, and he really shines at the end of Doing All Right. Freddie puts in great performances of Doing All Right, White Man, and Gods Revisited. Hearing Roger scream in the background between songs is always fun to hear, not to mention the duck quack before '39, which is also heard in many other shows at this point in the set. During this time period, Freddie wasn't heard singing "I see a little silhouetto of a man" on the tape of BoRhap's opera section, and it isn't heard on any audience recordings earlier than Richfield 11-25-78 - this leads me to believe that the opera section as heard on the video was most likely tampered with after the fact (bearing in mind that at one point the Earls Court shows were a potential official release). It has been suggested numerous times that they panned the idea because of Freddie's "microphone problems", but we must remember that all we've heard from this show is a video feed. Similar to the Hyde Park "echo" issue, what we are hearing is what was recorded from the video feed, not the soundboard mix, what was heard in the monitors, or from the audience. |

SNIVLLE'S PRODUCTION NOTES: I received a copy of this show from a great trading pal from the UK. As he'd told me before we traded, it was indeed one of the best versions of the show to have ever circulated. To find high quality copies of classic 70s QUEEN shows is very, very rare. After carefully watching the disc that I'd received from my friend a few times, I decided that there was enough picture quality remaining, underneath all the video noise, to facilitate a decent remastering attempt. It took close to 3 weeks of processing, remastering, revising, testing, and finally compiling, to come up with the finished product. It is an unfortunate fact of "video-geek" life that there are only 240 lines of resolution inherent in VHS recordings. This number can obviously not compare to the more the 540 lines of resolution seen in commercial DVDs. The motivation behind all "Snivlle Remastered Edition" DVDs is not to compete with commercial DVD quality; rather, it is to get older VHS footage as close as possible to the quality of SVHS or Laser Disc. (Video Noise Reduction) The original VOB files were extracted from the source disc using DVD Decrypter. The VOB files were analyzed and indexed as a d2v file with DGindex. The VOBs were then frame-served with AVIsynth into Pro-grade NLE (Non Linear Editing) Video/DVD production software. AVIsynth frame-serving was used so that a few very powerful AVIsynth filters could be used on the footage without having to re-encode at this stage, or without having to create 100 GB uncompressed AVI files. In particular, the AVIsynth filters used were UnDot, CNR2, and Guavacomb. In combination, these filters eliminate multi-gen VHS anamolies such as 'dotcrawl', chromiance shifting, and over all chromiance noise. The nasty chroma disturbances are removed WITHOUT affecting the actual picture details. Various video noise samples were captured and analyzed from the original footage. Careful video temporal de-noising was applied to remove a substantial amount of analog VHS noise and mpeg-2 artifacts. This portion of the video processing was carefully calculated to ensure that maximum results would be achieved WITHOUT disturbing the integrity of the original picture. I use the "NeatVideo" noise reduction plug-in in Highest quality/High resolution mode. (Video Encoding) Snivlle Remastered Editions are never mpeg-2 transcoded! All of my DVD projects are frame-served and encoded with Cinema Craft Encoder SP. The Cinema Craft Encoder is recognized within the DVD Production industry as the leader in high quality mpeg encoding. In order to maintain compatibility with a broad range of SA DVD players, bitrates are kept at 8000 KB/s or lower. I use standard (PAL) GOP settings (N=3/M=4), higher than average quantization settings, and tweaked picture quality parameters within the encoder itself. PITREK EDITION NOTES This is my "pittrek" remaster of the "Snivlle remastered edition" of Earls Court DVD. I have replaced his audio with a lossless source transfered from a low-generation VHS tape by frank39 (link. The video and audio were synchronised using Womble MPEG Video Wizard DVD. The 6 chanel ac3 track was also created in Womble. The subtitles are created from text files by SirGH (link using SubtitleCreator. I have also created new motion menus and compiled this DVD in DVDLabPro. Or in basic words I took the Snivlle remaster. I thought it's great until I realised that it 1) contains ALL the bad editing errors (the repeating section during the rock'n'roll medley is a fine example) 2) contains AC3 audio I have decided that I can do it better. So I have taken Snivvle's set and the old YV DVD and the fantastic lossless audio from frank39. Then I have corrected all the cuts by "shifting" the video on the timeline wherever it was necessary, which means after EVERY song. On disc 2 there were 2 serious errors. First of all was the repeating section during the rock'n'roll medley. I have corrected it and filled a few seconds which were missing from the YV DVD. The second "serious error" was the missing God Save The Queen track, so I have added it from YV's source, of course color corrected. Also during the opera section of Bohemian Rhapsody there was only black screen, so I have replaced it with the heads from the official video, just like QP does with almost all their concert DVDs. The video is synchronised with 2 tracks, one is a stereo LPCM track, the second is a 5.1 track, which was "upmixed" from the stereo track. Also there is a subtitle track for Freddie's speech. The bonus is all the footage we have from the second night. Audio : Audio 1 : LPCM 2.0 Audio 2 : AC3 5.1 Subtitles : Subtitle 1 : speeches between tracks |

jonnhycastelo wrote: Thanks a lot for sharing this one. I can't wait to watch it! I've just download disc 1 but i just don't know how to join the files. Can anyone help me? Yep, just go on the web and download the software "hjsplit". Then install it, and it's very easy after that. Once installed, launch the software, and on the starting page, it asks you if you want to split a file or join ; click on join and all is explained, you just have to choose the first of the files and click OK, all the work is done by the software. When joining operation is done, close the software. In the same folder you now have all the different files (that you can delete but I suggest you keep them somewhere to be sure that you still have them if ever something wrong happened !) + a single fine of 4,3 Gb or something. You can burn it but before you have to add an extension to this file, just add ".iso" and here you go ! Regards, Olivier, Belgium. |

Any help would be highly appreciated! Thanks again! Aemando, perhaps you are having the same problem I am - on both discs the last file is truncated. On Disc 1 the last VOB file is only 136 MB (I think it should be 180-something) and ends before Brighton Rock is finished. On Disc 2 the fourth VOB file is only 891 MB and the fifth one is empty. I downloaded the whole thing - twice :(( as well as redownloading the last few sections with the same result. Also burned the IFO file to disk - same thing: Does anyone else have this problem? Any solutions? If indeed someone has the last files complete, could they upload them (torrent, rapidshare, mediafire, whatever) and in return I'd be glad to post two torrents with four files - hopefully all working - if of course there is a need. I would not want to add yet another torrent to compete with the existing ones. If someone could help I wouldI really appreciate it! :) Many thanks in advance! |

The total size of your disc 2 is exactly 4 GB and that is the limit of FAT32 - the file system external drives are usually pre-formatted with. I guess it's the same with the complete disc 1. |

Finally it happened. I myself never had the time, the intention, or the knowledge, and above all not the right equipment to try muxing the Sniville's 2 DVD set with my Earls Court audio rip from my VHS tape. I couldn't even tell if the tape itsself is low gen, pictures don't look so, but the thing is, the audio had and still has remained in excellent quality. So thank you very very much, Pittrek! You made a huge present to me right before christmas. I have upped my Earls Court audio rip since years here on QZ and on my website, but there was no one who tried a combination of the best audio and the best video available, until now. So this is really great, I am right now dl it, also thanks for the subtitles by Sir GH, I am so eager to watch and listen. Frank39 |

I have a question regarding the audio: Is it an upgrade compared to the version you shared as part of your Best of The Best? The different infofile makes me think that the version on the dvd is a new, better rip of the same vhs tape. |

After closely watching I concur. There are subtle edits resulting in a more enjoyable experience all round. I'm still not convinced that a two disc version is wholely necessary and have edited it down to one disc with LPCM audio only and without menu (but with song chapters). As a fan I do appreciate the hard work that has gone it to this, so thanks once again. I doubt this will ever be released officially in it's entirety, so this may well be the best we will ever get. I was lucky enough to be in attendance on the second night, so it's all the more special to me. |

However I think that the audio which I uploaded as a part of the "Best Of The Best" series was simply a re-upload of frank39's audio, I'm not sure. I was having problems joining th files at first. This is what I did - Some of the files downloaded with the extension .mpg or .mpeg. I deleted the extension so that all of the files ended with .001 etc. I was then able to join all of the files using JHSplit that I downloaded from the internet. I just watched Disc 2 and it is a MAJOR upgrade from what I currently have. I am currently joining Disc 1 Thank you for this wonderful end of year gift. KUDOS |

The audio I had before contained 2 versions of Procession, one lossy - I got it prolly from Ginger01's torrent, and skipped it in your Best of The Best, not sure. I was just wondering because the audio from this DVD has a different info saying I transfered it again from my tape, but this time with some sort of recording level adjustment ( my previous version was probably a little too loud ), so it looks like a newer, better rip. Anyway, if you did some changes I'm sure it's an upgrade and the best so far, so I can delete the old version from my hd :) Edit: I just saw in the booklet of Vali's artwork, that your best of The Best already had that info. My old version was form the torrent. That's clarified now, thanks for the help ;) |

If you have the complete files (bigger then 4GB) I would recommend to burn them directly with ImgBurn (link . In the case you have Nero installed, it can also burn ISO files, if I remember correctly it had something like File -> Open ISO (I'm talking from memory, haven't seen Nero for a long time). Every "normal " DVD burning program should have a possibility to burn ISO files |

pittrek wrote: Hi folks, many people requested this and since I promised a Christmas gift to you, here you are : Queen : Live At Earls Court, London, UK - 6. Hi, Pittrek! Thanks for great works! Is it possible to make this concert from two disc, one disc without quality loss? |

pittrek wrote: Hi folks, many people requested this and since I promised a Christmas gift to you, here you are : Queen : Live At Earls Court, London, UK - 6. ================================================================================================ I have audio rip from DVD Live at Earl' s Court 1977 A Snivlle Remastered Edition. What I want to say, on my opinion audio quality A Snivlle Remastered Edition better than yours, I'm sorry |

Then you must be going deaf. Pittrek's audio (from Frank's VHS) is far superior. Is this your 14th user account here now? |

This is fantastic, I have wanted to see this for years! Just one problem though - files 3, 7, 34 and 37 for DVD 2 are not available any more (File Not found). Any chance of someone uploading them for me so I can complete the DVD? Thanks! |

Thank you very much for this gem of a concert, Pittrek! Earls Court 77 has been my favorite of non-release gigs (based on what I'd seen on youtube), so I was really excited when I found this thread of yours. The torrent link seem to stop at 1%, so I'll try mega next. Hopefully they won't deny me of this feast. I love "39" from this show. |

Someone is seeding this torrent - thanks a lot, stranger ;) I hope I can at least download one DVD. I won't be able to rest until I have Earls Court in my hand. |

But where can I get the pittrek version? The new version is great, but I'm interested in hearing if the audio in the pittrek version is better. Because I'm blind, I don't care at all about the picture quality. |
