Wow...how amazing! Whilst doing some rather boring coursework marking in my kitchen last night, I chanced upon an old dusty CD of Roger Taylor's Strange Frontier...... I must say, it sounded bloody good. Not given it a twirl for about 8 or 9 years. It even made me deviate from my coursework marking and watch the Man on Fire video on YouTube,.... so 80's!!. Was this coursework so boring that it made this CD sound so good, or is it really a bit of a hidden gem?? Comments anyone,,,,,,
P.S I had a couple of glasses of wine as well, this could have tainted my judgement. It's an illusion...
Yeah, got all RT's solo albums and Cross albums...... I just dont listen to them that often really! Like you say, full of 80's synths but very catchy. Used to listen to it loads in my teenage years, I think it was back in 1996 when they reissued Strange Frontier and Fun in Space on budget CD, otherwise both LP's are upstairs gathering dust. Had Electric Fire in the car a while back and made good listening driving down to London. Brought back memories of seeing him on that tour in Sheffield. Just about to dig out the Blue Rock CD for tomorrows journey in to work......Last time I was in France I got a copy for it 5 euros... have you seen the price on ebay??

Hi
One of my favourite albums of the time - a little dated now due to the 80's synths and productions, but some good stuff none the less.
Have you checked out Electric Fire, Roger's best (in my opinion) solo album?
I bought Electrick Fire about 5 years ago, and it cost me 23 NOK ( 2 £ ). I have to admit I haven't played it many times. I thinks it too strange. But I really like the "strange" music from Queen...
It's my only Roger Taylor album... But I really like his songs, such as Drowse and Tenement Funster. They are great!
...the only Cross album I am missing is the one with "Power to Love"...I think it is Mad Bad and Dangerous to Know?? Is it worth getting hold of?? I remember seeing the vid for Power to Love ages ago and seem to remember it was quite extravagant....! Reminded me of A Hard Life Video......I'll have to YouTube it.
hahahha...fucking excellent. The banana sharing women!! Brings back memories..................of this video of course!! DaveRFuller has an amazing set of vids on YouTube.
Strange Frontier is my fav Roger solo album too. I totally love Man On Fire, best solo song by Roger in my opinion...
About that Cross album: it's indeed Mad, Bad and Dangerous To Know. I personally think it's better than Shove It, but my favorite by The Cross is Blue Rock. If you like The Cross' output, you'll like this album. I do.
