Well, I just got back in now after getting the new album and went straight to track 7 to hear Catcher in the Rye to compare what Axel thinks is more worthy over Brians work. After hearing leaked songs on Youtube, and various MP3's going round, I have heard the song many times so its easy to pic up the changes very quick. In saying that........ I think that Brian's work,,,,, suited the song in my opnion more so than Bumblefoot. I say this with out bashing the new version or for my love of Brian, and even more so to the point that because I am used to the previous version, doesnt mean I am sticking to it. After all, the album sounds much better all round than leaked songs. I am not commenting on the album, I just wanted to wait the issue of that I was expecting to see Brians name on the credits and hear this song being played with a nice and chrisp sound, so pardon me for bringing this up when only a week or so before its release Brian gets dumped. If your reading Brian.... in which... hello? Where's my Wii as your promised? .....Just wanted to say that I think the song suffers with out your work on it as you added a great depth and tone with your Solo and the latter falls short of this. |

Yeah... who knows what went wrong? Getting greedy over royalties? Drugs? Bumblefoot making a fuss? Anyway, such a fucking shame. I was looking forward to Buckethead and Brian May being on the same album. *sigh* Fuck you, Axl, for ruining my dream. And your voice is irritating. Asshole. |

I'm sure he's devastated by your curses. |

I don't like GNR, but I heard that the last song on the album sounds like queen, The reviewer said "axle does a freddie mercury." |
Vali 24.11.2008 04:52 |
the last song on the album, "Prostitute", has nothing to do with Queen. Good song, though |
AssDudeRule 24.11.2008 17:47 |
Its been a few days since I got the album...and ..... its pretty good actually..... A far as having songs that sound like Queen, theres some moments there in a few songs.... But, that could just be me hearing what I wanna hear. Mind you I shouldnt really have the Radio on at the same time as my CD player.... The whole album sounds like its the Top 40 count down |

Funny you would bring this up, Assdude. I was listening to it as well, specifically trying to catch Queen moments (there are enough Elton John and Nine Inch Nails moments), and I think the most striking example would be the guitar solo somewhere in the middle in Street of Dreams (aka The Blues). That guitar sounds very much like Brian. What made me wonder...btw...was that Brian gets Thanks from two band members but not from Axl. Anyway, I like Chinese Democracy better than most of the new Metallica album. Raving reviews but I skip most songs except My Apocalypse and All Nightmare Long... A Queen incarnaction, a Metallica and a Guns N Roses album released in the same year....is it 1991 again? :-)) |

It angers me that Axl is such a dick. Brian worked hard and it came out beautifully. It's insulting. |
kdj2hot 25.11.2008 19:11 |
I bet it was due to money issues, he probably didn't wanna have to pay royalties to Bri for playing on track. |

I played the album yesterday for the first time. And without wanting to sound as the sour popjournalist, It got me screaming in pain... What an incredible piece of shit!!! I already set my expectations low - but even listening with an open mind could not change this load of bollocks into something decent. There is not a single good track on it - it is all pro-tools trickery from beginning till end, overproduced and even with all that trickery and a lot of pitching Axl sounds like a dying pig... If there is anybody in here that thinks that I missed the point, please let me know. I'd love to see the light and like this album for what it is. For now, I found it one of the worst albums I ever heard... |

Jjeroen, I guess it comes down to personal taste and expectations. I never liked the Aerosmith/Rolling Stones side of GNR and prefered the experimental bits, I love Coma and Estranged, I hate Shotgun Blues or even Mr Brownstone. And I never had a problem with Axl, in fact I think musically he has his genius moments and flaws as much as Freddie had. From that point of view the songs Chinese Democracy or Better are ok but not so great, but I think This I love is one of the greatest love songs I heard in years. And Madagascar which I first heard in 2001 is awesome, Street of Dreams too (especially the Red Special sounding first solo)...I know for some people Axl's voice may waste the experience and the absence of the others. Admittedly, I never enjoyed a single Velvet Revolver track unless I was in the mood for simple rockers (funny enough, I can listen to the Foo Fighters anytime, lots of catchy tunes). Usually I prefer the more complicated and carefully arranged songs. I always skip Perfect Crime or Garden of Eden when I get back to the old albums. So in this case, as much as I'm more a Freddie fan than a Queen fan, I prefer Axl's music over Izzy's or Duff's in GNR. And like I say, his voice doesn't annoy me at all, I actually think it's as great as the old Ian Gillan's or Robert Plant's. In Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver, GNR, Deep Purple...I always try to listen to glimpses of genius and avoid the sheer testosterone, if you know what I mean. And I can find a lot of it on Chinese Democracy. Which is of course only my opinion. :-) |

For all Axl's a moron, this album is far better than the drivel Q+PR released. And it kills me to say it :( |

Amen. I could lie to myself, but Chinese Democracy is the best thing I've heard since Innuendo. Instant classic. I never thought any American band could put a better album the same year as a Queen release. |
Brian_Mays_Wig 03.12.2008 08:01 |
I have to admit.....I think its a great album...not worth 15 years wait and hard to believe its the most expensive album ever made, but still good. I think Street of Dreams is a great track. Very November Rain'ish. |
Micrówave 03.12.2008 14:26 |
It's not that great, it's OK. Just your average hard rock screaming crazy guy rock. I'm not sure if I'm into that much anymore. Still, it should pay Axl's and Dr. P's lawyer bills. |
Richard Orchard 04.12.2008 05:05 |
I think that the album is fantastic!!!! |

I never thought a Queen release would rate bellow anyone for me but this GnrR album is far superior. Sad but true. |

I've already said in other post, I like the album, I found some Queen sounds on it (just a few) like someone said before maybe the first solo in "Street of dreams" is very Brian, but, What most amazed me is the one before the last song, that is the Queenish song, called "This I love", but in my opinion is not a Queenish song, is a Freddie Mercury Song, and I am sure a Slash solo would have been 10 thousand times better than the original one. Axl was really inspired in that song.... |

I like this album. But there again i also loved The Cosmos Rocks and i love Metallica's Death Magnetic.Different types of Rock, but brilliant all the same. |

I think Axls voice has matured a lot.....alot more singing an alot less screeching - although its nice to hear the odd screech! |
