QUEEN AND PAUL RODGERS: LET THE COSMOS ROCK
CONCERT HITS VUE CINEMAS ON WORLD AIDS DAY
Vue Entertainment are giving fans across the UK the chance to see a spectacular one off charity concert featuring Queen & Paul Rodgers in support of an AntiAids campaign.
Let the Cosmos Rock, will be screened at 39 Vue sites across the country for one night only on World Aids Day, Monday, December 1st, 2008.
The concert drew a record audience of 350,000 people and was captured for the big screen by award winning film-maker David Mallet. Filmed in high definition with 5.1 surround sound, the sound and visuals are of the highest quality available in cinemas today.
Queen and Paul Rodgers made a special trip to Ukraine on September 12th 2008 to play a two and a half hour free concert in Kharkov's Freedom Square in partnership with The Elena Franchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation. The band wanted to support the cause whose message "Don't let AIDS ruin your life" has special meaning for them after lead
vocalist Freddie Mercury lost his battle with the virus.
Concert director David Mallet said:
"The big screen setting is an ideal medium in which to feel a sense of participation in the Kharkov event. This was by far the biggest show of its kind ever staged. The equipment needed two Antonov 124 aircraft the worlds biggest cargo planes - to get it into the
Ukraine, and it is almost impossible to imagine the scale of it once
it was built. You would never get a sense of that on television or
DVD, which is why it had to be made for the biggest of screens.
James Dobbin, Vue Head of Sales, said:
Vue Cinema is delighted to be able to offer a unique concert
experience with one of the most iconic rock bands of all time. The fantastic performances, the awesome collaboration with Rodgers and the important message behind the concert all combine to make what will be a thoroughly enjoyable and moving musical experience.

compared to previous years. Every day 52 people are diagnosed with
HIV, 8 people dies of AIDS in Ukraine.
The country also has reported the highest HIV prevalence in Europe

related mortality (from 4.6 per 100,000 in 2005 to 5.4 per 100,000 in
2007) proof that efforts made to date were not enough.
