Even though I like the album I have this to say: - If the band wanted themselves to be seen as a living organism, and to be relevant in today's music business they should have backed the album a lot better and promoted it way more than has been done. The album will go into history as a wasted chapter in the US. (I'm talkin about and not Europe were it has done ok). I may seem grumpy and tired, in fact I am at the moment ;) I attended two marvellous gigs in Germany, but as for the album speaking I feel that they could have done more. I'm not the first to point to this. It seems like they just give a damn about the album perception. And sure they are right to do so. They have sold millions of albums, don't need money or adulation. I'm saying this because I want to hear what other people mean about this matter... It's all their decision, I just don't understand why they don't do more promotion to get their music out to the public.. It seems like they just want to play, and that's great, but still... |

Its kinda dissapointing, I wish they could of done a U.S. Tour. That would have kept the album charting higher for a longer period of time. But who knows what they are going to be up to in the future. |

They will never be as popular in the USA or Canada. I think they had plenty of promotion..might be due to the fact that the album as a whole is just not that great. |

As a long time Queen fan, I have to say that I think the album is actually pretty good. There's a few songs I just have to listen to over and over, and they have been playing in my head constantly. As a "Queen" album - even though I acknowledge this is entierely a new entity - I think it does hold quite strong, just open your minds a little. I agree with the above posts, though. Why are they not promoting this album in the U.S??? I have not seen or heard a single advertisment for this album. Even Sirius - which plays a LOT of Queen - doesn't mention it. Maybe it's because I live in the South and they're not as popular here, but where is the promotion??? It really makes me mad because this is a good album that needs to be heard by rock fans!! |

yeah, my biggest complaint is the lack of promotion. Most people know nothing about it, even at msuic stores, and the radio stations (even the one I work at) are not playing it, no matter how much I request it. Pisses me off, i tried joining the street team...they were JUST gearing up to do some stuff the week it came out...no posters, no stickers, pins, flyers, commercials...NOTHING....pissed me off so much, I have been talking about it non stop for months...giving the jocks any info that has come out for it over the last 2 years, trying to get them to talk about it...notthing....god damn it, but I was at least successful in getting more regular queen played on a more regular basis, and getting some non (bigger) hits played at my station |

Talking about magazines as a promotion tool. I don't know how many magazine ads they had, but one thing is sure; magazines don't function very well as promotion. There is simply not enough exposure. I'm not saying that magazines are useless, on the contrary I think that interviews and articles pushing the album is a good thing, but not enough. The reason this makes me a bit frustrated, is that I really think this album could have done well in the US. I feel that it has a sound, that regardless of how weird it sound, would have a great appeal in America. Paul Rodgers gives the band a touch of soul, blues and edge that many music loving americans would appreciate. This is quite generalizing but in my opinion I feel like this is an "americanized" Queen album (strangely enough made by three englishmen ;)), and in such way I think it could do well "over there" if they had used the promotion machinery better. I think that songs like: Still Burning, Small, Time to Shine, Some Things That Glitters & Call Me, would have a potential and appeal for american music listeners. I sincerlely mean that, and I think it is a shame that they (now) probably will never hear those tracks. Shame because they are great songs. They should have done a TV ad and some television show performances for the album, both in Europe and in the US. |

They should have had MySpace ads running every day for several months in a row while giving free discs to DJs like me...as Lady GaGa did, who came out of nowhere, who got her name from the Queen song, who released her album the same day as Queen's, and is charting higher here in the US.... |

There is absolutely no promotion in the States. Quite frankly, under the circumstances, I'm pleasantly surprised they are at #149. |

As for the quality of the album, I for one think it's good. If it's worthy of the Queen title or not is a dumbass question. They decide what they put out under that banner. What would you say would pass the quality test of becoming a Queen titled album? What are the secret ingridients and magic powder? Put John Deacon on speed, and resurrect mr. Mercury? People will never be happy. Remember the reception of Hot Space. Many disliked it and went as far as saying this was not Queen. But I do find it interesting; what would I liked more on the album? Maybe some more epic songs, more prog-like arrangements and "Queen like" choirs, and so on. Would that make it more a Queen album than the one they recently released? The problem in this context is rather that people never will get the chance to hear the album, and listen and make up their meanings about the music, due to bad publishing and promotion. |

They won't make much money on The Cosmos Rocks (it's not that good), so they won't spend money on promotion, simple as that. The Cosmos Rocks is just an excuse to tour. They are making money on the tour, not the album. |

They are making money on the tour, not the album. i don't think it only is an excuse, as roger's drumming the best work he has done for a long long (long!) while... but the us-market is not ready for a british pop-blues project...they simply don't need it... c'mon it's the home of the blues. furthermore QPR cannot compete with actual US-pop-standards... and they're making money by re-releasing their glorious greatest hits (in what form ever...) ähm... which US-tour ??? |

The only promotion I have "experienced" here is from Best Buy. They do play C-lebrity in-store, probably because they have to rid themselves of those $150 LP Box sets. PLUS (cue excitement) When you go to that section of the CDs, there is a little 1½" X 5" laminate sign attached to the Queen divider. (This can be also found at Sam Goody stores, except at Town East Mall. I got that one.) What do you mean no promotion? |
