From the screen caps, it looks like a cropped version of the 2003 Brazillian broadcast. The subtitles are cropped at the bottom and the blurred TV Logo is cropped at the top. I'm still downloading it even thought I have the Brazillian dvd because of the Audio options (except for the pseudo 5.1 mix) It also looks like the video was filtered. Was it? |

Its from a different source than the DVD I mentioned earlier. I'm still downloading. I was able to do a screen cap from one of the VOB files thru Virtualdub MPEG2. Its an NTSC source which is good for me since I'm in NTSC land. I can't wait to finally watch this. Thanks in advance. |

It's not a bootleg. It's home-made... and cropped down to 16:9. Too bad, it's roughly two thirds of what it could've been... |

I agree on the video ofc, cropping it was just stupid. But I really like the audio on the Snow Prod DVD. I ripped my all time fav live song White Queen from both DVDs (DVD Audio Extractor), tagged the files with track based replay gain (foobar2000) and uploaded them along with the best available audio version (Pittrek's complete compilation) to mediafire for the experts to compare: http://www.mediafire.com/file/jmlzny2zfnl/Hammersmith 75 - Room 101 DVD - White Queen.flac http://www.mediafire.com/file/gm0nzmmyomn/Hammersmith 75 - Snow Prod DVD - White Queen.flac http://www.mediafire.com/file/ygzzhjuzlhj/Hammersmith 75 - Pittrek - White Queen.flac What do you think? |

The Real Wizard 13.11.2008 10:36 |
The SnowProd guy just took the audio from the "There Ain't No Sanity Clause" bootleg... which is mostly from a 2005 Swedish radio broadcast. So it's certainly not "his" source. |
eYe 13.11.2008 12:53 |
Ah yes, and Pittrek took White Queen from the Westwood One Pre-FM, that's why there is a different sound. A matter of personal taste I guess (better drum sound or better backing vocals). |

Sir GH wrote: The SnowProd guy just took the audio from the "There Ain't No Sanity Clause" bootleg... which is mostly from a 2005 Swedish radio broadcast. So it's certainly not "his" source. The audio of snow productions its really good, you can hear in dolby surround the band playing next to you. But its a shame for the rock n' roll medley, it doesn't sound like the rest of the concert, why? , its a compilation of difrent audio sources? |

The only source for the RnR medley is the video, which has mono sound. It was never broadcast on the radio. |
deltazulu 14.11.2008 02:33 |
unfortunately it's a comparison of the audio not the video. Room 101 is the better video source compared to SP and RM. But what about Pittrek's version? Is his audio better than Room 101? What about his video? |

The SP version being seeded in THIS thread has nice audio... but there are issues with the cropping that was done to make the video 16:9. |
tonimau 14.11.2008 07:15 |
Just to clarify some people. I have fully downloaded the Snow DVD and the Room 101 DVD (I saw the Room 101 over 5 times). The Snow DVD has 3 audio sources: - Radio PCM with overblown sound that causes distortion on PowerDVD (haven't tried a dvd player yet) - Swedish Radio sound , the only good reason to download this. - Original TV audio, a bit worse than the others. The Rock'n'Roll medley has the TV source in all 3 versions. Nothing can be done bout that I guess. The video is awful and cropped. So, if you want to watch video, download Room 101. It's great. So, if you want great sound, watch this crappy cropped version with great swedish radio audio or the apparently overblown audio on the other radio source if you can hear it without complaining. However, the Snow Producciones video has some bits that aren't in the Room 101 video. For example, the Bob Harris intro. |

This may seem like a dumb question to some, but what's the deal with Seven Seas of Rhye and See What A Fool I've Been? Were they played before or after the rock n' roll medley? |

I noticed this thread too late [/img] I once wrote here almost an "essay" on this topic, maybe I can find it [/img] You're right, when I was doing my compilation, I had to choose between great drums and great backing vocals. So I have decided to take usually the "great drums" version and the songs which have really bad backing vocals were taken from the "great backing vocals" version |

To be honest this PAL > NTSC and vice-versa conversions are a huge problem. If you would take the time and compare all the versions you would notice that almost every version runs at slightly different speed. |

There are many "rock masters" versions, all coming from different generation VHS tapes of the same TV rebroadcast, so while some of them look basically as good as the WoWoW broadcast (released as "The 101 Room productions" version), but sound much worse, others even look pretty bad |

If you would take the time and compare all the versions you would notice that almost every version runs at slightly different speed. A quick net surf will get anyone interested a simple cheat using IFOEdit that allows you to play PAL video on an NTSC machine... and vice versa. It works very well on most machines... and avoids the quality loss inherent in doing true conversions. (Also, many cheap machines play both Pal and NTSC.) Obviously the cheat is not for many purists.... because it makes it difficult to share the converted video in most trading circles. I usually keep one true copy and one converted one. (I have one cheapo machine that plays both formats... but I prefer to watch stuff on my PVR/DVD player...which only plays NTSC.) Also...please accept information as it's intended. You obviously think you're being criticized. And... by my read... you were not. We're all just trying to share knowledge. Please take good info when it's offered without feeling like someone's trying to make you look bad. |

I'll second that. Pittrek's work is consistently top notch, while most of the snow productions stuff is crap. It has pretty menus, but the encoding is usually lossy and/or unnecessarily cropped to 16:9. |

Pittrek's Hammersmith 1975 DVD edtion is for sure one of the best! I even played the dvd on my holiday in Switserland a few weeks back ;-) If you like to make another Christmas present, Pittrek...Maybe Newcastle 1986?? The ''so called master video version'' with synching the EX sounding audience audio source and maybe the TV special on it, but I have no idea how many versions of that TV special are around.. I know that Hernan Snow made a compilation, but since his versions are most of the time lossy, I like to know how Pittrek would do it ;-) |
