as the european leg of the tour comes to a close, what is the feeling about q+pr.were you one who said,no never it will not work, then saw them and changed your mind.did you go along expecting high hopes and were let down.for me it was stunning night at the secc.2 kids first concert, they loved it.me ,i loved it also ,was blown away with the power and energy of the complete band.stunning light and sound show.maybe a small gripe as to some higher notes sung(or not sung lol).but overall went along expecting nothing more than a superb night.and it was delivered.so my point of view is.yes a success. |

o by the way.the reason i ask this question is,someone in my town was offered a free ticket to go.he said it would be crap as not queen.saw him 2 days later.he couldnt shut up talking about how much he was impressed about the gig. |

I fear this maybe a dangerous thread David. I reckon most of those who didn't approve probably didn't "waste"their money on going to a show. The ones who approve probably went and from most accounts on here very much enjoyed themselves but on the other hand most of those folk probably saw them on the last tour anyway. To answer your question, I thought it was a successful combination in 2005 and after getting the new album and attending 2 shows in 2008 my opinion has not changed a bit. Long live QPR |

I've not been to a show but YouTube is a wonderful thing so you can get a feel pretty much of everything these days from there. I don't believe a tour of Brian, Roger and Paul would be able to sell anywhere out if they relied on Paul's previous material and new stuff written by the three of them. It is very much all hinged on people's love of Queen and their desire to hear these songs which although most recorded more than 20 years ago still resonate through the generations. That's where I think some people have a problem with it as it's not really a "new" tour. Take the Queen songs out of the tour and you'd reduce the interest by 99%. So people see it as Brian and Roger trying another Queen tour but under a slightly different name. If the shows consisted mainly of Paul's older stuff and solo material from Brian and Roger then I don't think the critics would exist, even if they went under the "Queen+" name as they do. However they don't the linchpin of the tour, shows and the entities entire existence is the material written and released in or before 1991. I have to say I don't share much of this criticism but I think it's where some people at least are coming from. |

Well I for one have always been a supporter of this new version of the band. Being somewhat older than many here I remember Paul when he was famous the first time round, and I love his work. Queen + PR is in my opinion the best way forward for them, these concerts have been simply stunning, and I sincerely hope they don't leave it there. I hope they have at least one more album in them as a threesome and hopefully one more tour. But if not I suspect both Brian and Roger will do something together again, hopefully before they become too old to tour again. Those that knock them do so usually without any real knowledge of what went before and often staggering little grasp of what it takes to put of a show of this nature. I genuinly see this as a new venture and hope it continues to evolve further. 2005-2008 has been pretty fine for me |

YES! The project has been incredible... 2 tours and 1 studio album (apart from 1 live album and 2 dvds) in only 3 years, aaamazing live perfomances, Brian and Rog together again onstage, playing some of the songs that didnt make it to the original Queen shows (Want it all, Show must go on... etc) good chemistry with Paul, 3 generations of fans united to share this experience that Queen is... yes yes yes and yes!... I was already tired of random aparitions with random singers, in random shows, awards, musicals, commertials... and everything... for the first time in 20 years this feels like a Queen tour, without a doubt. Looking forward very much for the Santiago and Buenos Aires dates... 15 years of fan become worth it!!!!!! Cheers. |

has to be a definate yes from me. i saw them in 2005 at newcastle, and although paul struggled a little on some of the songs, it was a fantastic return. and now 3 years on, i think they have gelled, and i love most of the new album. i was at glasgow three weeks ago, and again at newcastle on tuesday night, and they really do feel like Queen. im looking forward to whatever they decide to do next. Queen is alive and well, |

Complete no brainer. What would you rather have? No gigs at all. In my view Paul won a watch teaming up with queen and queen won a watch teaming up with Paul. Big yes from me |
david (galashiels) 06.11.2008 18:08 |
yes i would rather have the gigs.as for watches.they both got gold ones lol. |

I think that QPR is/was a good, but not a great idea. It was a different idea than running out and replacing Freddie with an unknown clone who sounds like Freddie. To me QPR is like the slow/fast acousitic version of HTF. The acoustic version of HtF was a very good innovative change of pace at the time, but now I strongly prefer the original "pure", hard version of HtF. To me QPR is ok, but I would much prefer Brian and Roger solo (Queen BR) after they released their new album (tentatively titled "Pipe Dream"). Ideally, for me ... Roger could perhaps sing lead behind the drum kit (he is not a good front man IMHO) - AOBTD, CLTCL, WWRY, WATC, UP, RGG, AKOM, IINLWMC, SHA, SCC, TATDOOL, Breakthru, Mustapha HFE, It's Late, Surfs Up, and Sister Blue, while Brian could perhaps sing - TYMD, 39, LOML, HTF, IWTBF, IWIA, ICLWY, TSMGO KYA, Bo Rhap (3rd part), Nevermore, The Hero, We Believe, China Belle, and Dream Of Thee. Brian and Roger would also sing 4 songs from their new, hypothetical QBR album Tentatively titled "Pipe Dream". Of course, many of these songs would need to be shortened and put in a medley or two (like the Works tour) to keep the show under 2 hours. Thus, this "pipe dream" tour would be a mixture of most of the big hits, plus a boatload of surprises representing every Queen album. Yes, I see pink pigs flying right now. |

I've seen them in Vienna and it belongs to the most amazing moments of my life. No, I'm not kidding. I went there as a Queen fan who accepts Paul as their new singer and I left as a huge Queen + Paul Rodgers fan. |

YES for me as well. They are still perfect altough without Freddie. I attended 9 shows (2005 + 2008) and I hope to see them again.:-)) |
Ken8 29.11.2008 02:39 |
This is the dilemma of the Rodgers/Queen lovers. No matter how many times they can say they've seen them in concert, they know that it just doesn't have the cred of saying you saw the original Queen. There's enough people on here that talk about any number of god awful Queen cover bands. People go to see them obviously. I wonder why? I mean after all, they're not seeing Queen, are they? |
Vali 29.11.2008 05:10 |
YES YES and YES much similar to Pittrek's case .... As a Queen fan I've always accepted Paul; even from the start when they announced the first tour in 2005. And when I saw them in their first gig at Brixton Academy (a loooong time ago now) I empathized with him. Yes, that gig was a little mess musically but I felt Paul was very modest. The rest of the 2005/2006 tour reinforced my opinion, as well as the new album and tour now in 2008. It's thanks to Paul that I had the chance to see Roger and Brian playing together again. And I like the musical combination of both parts. Love the new album and hope this is not the end. I'd love to see how their partnership can evolve in another new studio album, in wich I'm sure we'd see more input from Brian. |

Some more kicks on the dead horse... From what I saw from the average of the people waiting for the QPR in Brazil (I wasn't there, saw it on tv), I find it strange that they don't have any kind of notion of what the Queen + FM was but on records, so this is the only possible "Queen" they can see live, enjoy it while you can, no matter if the champagne has lost its bubbles (nice metaphor isn't it?). As it's been said many times, if Freddie was alive/he should have used condoms/blah blah blah, nobody can tell if they were that good or even if they were still active and together. But it would be slightly less embarassing. Or boring. |
Marcos Napier 29.11.2008 11:13 |
Tried to edit my post but everything is a mess again... instead of "nobody can tell if they were that good" read... "nobody can tell if they still are that good". |

"It's thanks to Paul that I had the chance to see Roger and Brian playing together again. " And thanks to The Cross, Roger & Brian's solo shows, WWRY the Musical..... |

Their previous tour was lots of fun (haven't been to this one), some people would rather stay at home and complain though |

i know this is old news now, but i'll have my say. when i first heard of the partnership i was vehemently against it. even though i consider paul to be the best rock vocalist that there has been, i wasn't keen on the idea. i did change my mind a little as time went on. i've seen a concert or two of the band and they seem quite good. i suppose the big thing for me is using the name queen. i realize why it was a good idea as far as commercial reasons went though. i'd of much rather brian and roger touring with an unknown singer, or perhaps just them doing the vocals. still, its over for now. |
