Vali 22.10.2008 19:55 |
Hi guys .... just come back from the show [/img] no changes on the setlist. Same tracks as Liverpool, Sheffield, etc; Hammer To Fall opener, We Believe played, etc Not sold out; around 11.000 / 13.000 people (last time in 2005 it was a sold out with 18.000) a bit disappointing ? perhaps; but as said many times, once you're there, once the show begins, you don't really care. The show has been amazing .... the sound quality was superb and the audience surrended to the band. The new tracks sounded relly good, specially We Believe, wich sounded much powerful and smoother than ever. Paul was superb, reaching all the notes; the audience reaction after Bad Company has been enthusiastic and almost everybody was clapping with ... Seagull !!! Rog in great shape ... and voice !! SINT was awesome, as IILWMC and AKOM !!! And Brian also very good, very confident and quick ... but he hit some wrong notes on Bijou ..... anyway, once again and overall he did very good, providing a hot solo on AKOM. I really think the band enjoyed the show, you could see that on their faces! Talking to the audience, smiling .... what the hell !! it's been a greaaat gig !!! and a perfect day ... a dream come true .... BECAUSE I MET ROGER AND BRIAN THIS AFTERNOON AT THE HOTEL !!!!!!!! YIHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!! I had their signatures on my ANATO 25th Anniversary vinyl ("no e-bay, uh?" said Brian as he was signing to everyone) and took three pictures with Roger !! He was really nice ... and showed some patience !!! and Brian, yeah he was also very nice; when he was leaving the hotel, he came very gently to us and proposed a deal: "I sign everything you want, but no photos please" ... but I managed to take one as he was signing to some of my pals I shook hands with both of them and ... I'm a happy man today !!! and for the rest of my life ! ps. also met Jamie , Danny and Spike, but the above detailed was more important |

ah !!! Still Burnin' was played at the soundcheck !!!!! |

Sounds you had a great time Vali! Nice story!! D |

Great story. Funny that Brian makes such a big deal of autographs on his soapbox, but all the time says "no time for photographs or talking, just autographs". |
Sunshine__123456 23.10.2008 02:39 |
Yeah Pim that is true, but in a way I understand him. How annoying is it that people want to sell his freshly signed items on ebay? I think that is sad. For me an autograph doesnt mean anything, it is about meeting him. I was standing in front of the catwalk and see the man singing LOML in front of me was enough, now I can die peacefully. Brian is just a normal man, for me he is only god on stage |
Mr. Scully 23.10.2008 04:20 |
Ebay dealers of autographs are really annoying and I understand Brian's point. But he's bitching about it all the time and there are often fans freezing there for hours and all he has to do is give them two minutes of his time. That's part of being a rock star. You cannot expect to be a rock legend and live an anonymous life. I sent him my view regarding autographs but he probably wasn't interested in any opinion that was different from his. He published in his soapbox only a letter that fully agreed with him. As for Barcelona... Still Burnin' would be nice but remember Queen have already rehearsed every track from the album except for Voodoo. And they played only some of them. |
FriedChicken 23.10.2008 05:10 |
I agree with Martin, For Brian it's just a couple of minutes of extra work, signing a couple of things, shaking some hands, but for the fans (who have been standing in the cold for a couple of hours) it's something they will remember for the rest of their lives. I'm glad Brian realises this. |

You know what/ With this Jen woman... I don't think he even got it... |
Mr. Scully 23.10.2008 06:14 |
Jen definitely censors some of his emails but I don't think she did that in this case. I sent a polite email and attached some really nice photos in high resolution that I took with my DSLR in Antwerp. But as you say, there's no guarantee that Brian actually got/read that email. |

Brian played a snippet of "Barcelona" (yes, Freddie's and Montserrat Caballé's one) at the beginning of his solo. Sadly almost anyone noticed it. |
Vali 23.10.2008 11:16 |
holly shit !!! I knew it !!! as Brian started the solo I thought to myself: "he's doing something different today, what's this?" and then started to think somehow I knew what he was actually playing, and just for one second "Barcelona" came to my mind .... yes , it was !!! when I get home tonight I'll give a listen to the video my brother recorded. Not the entire show. Just bits. And I think he recorded that part cheers Vali |
Vali 24.10.2008 04:57 |
Confirmed ! I've listened to Brian's solo again and ... yes, he played some notes of Freddie's BARCELONA at the start. I understand why very few noticed that, as it was played in a very particular way but .. yeah, yeah, IT WAS "Barcelona" |

My first Q+PR gig, I loved it!!!!! Dunno how good or bad are the rest, but for me being there, singing all the songs and seeing Roger's ass in front of my face was enough :P. (Kidding about enjoying Roger's ass, but I had it on my face xD). Here are some ofthe photos I took. http://s193.photobucket.com/albums/z108/marial-b/Queen%20and%20Paul%20Rodgers |

I was looking out for you Mari...pity i didnt get in touch with you before the gig we could have met up...It was amazing though better than the last time i saw them. I was right up the front to the right of the stage. They took my camera off me on the way in but i still got some great shots on my phone which i will put up soon. Barcelona is amazing only arrived back last night and will have to go back soon. it was so cool to go to another country to see the gig it's an experience i'll never forget and it was the best wedding anniversary present ever to See Brian May so close up. xxx |

Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh we could've met there!!!!! You could've met Tijn also!!!!! He was with me at the concert!!!!! We were at the left side of the stage, I was in front of the catwalk as you can see. I was yelling with canarian people of the right part all the time, who were in frint of me. How come they took your camera out :S???? I was hugging mine like too much so I think that's why they didn't take it. I also met lots of english and german people, venezuelans and aregntinian people were there also. For the next time we should exchange phones and try to meet up!!!!!! |
The Mir@cle 25.10.2008 15:55 |
About Paul Rodgers... he might have been in a good shape, but not nearly as good as in Rotterdam. The rest of the band was great though, so was the crowd. A great concert overal. link |
