The new queen album doesn't have staying power, what's the albums chart position now?...I know celebrity spent only one week in the top 40, and now isn't even in the top 100. Even the freddie mercury Lover of life, singer of songs did almost as good, and those songs were decades old.
Like it has been said before on here, this album was criminally under promoted. Some crappy adverts on weird and wonderful channels that no one watches........ could have been a lot, lot better. Even my local record shop who keep their Queen displays for me were not sent any poster merchandise from the record company. Promotion really is the name of the game, I am suprised that Jim Beach didn't ensure a lot more publicity!
Totally agree - fantastic album that won't sell simply because people are unaware of it. The key fan base have all bought there copies and word of mouth can only ever get you so far. Without a big promotional push I'm disappointed to say that the album sales will fail to reflect what is a really an excellent piece of work by Brian, Roger and Paul.
Only hope that after this tour they give us at least one more album. If they only do the one people will put it down as a flash in the pan when Queen + Paul Rodgers need to mark their own unique place in Rock history.
It's not Queen as we remember in many ways - but that's the whole point it's something new and exciting - shame that the record company don't seem keep to promote what is an excellent product.

That's a queen fan talking, a little biased I must say. The cosmo's rocks isn't such a bad album, it has some nice moments for sure, but exciting?...I don't think so. It's hard to fanthom someone saying songs like 'we believe' 'call me' the cosmos rocking and surf's up as exciting.

No, that's on Hot Space. But then everyone hated that, too.
Maybe you should try Franz Ferdinand or Jimmy Eat World.
I'm not one of those who hate staying power, it's actually a pretty good song. I kinda like the hot space album, but I'm also not a hard person to please.

Couldn't agree more! You took the words right out of my mouth.
I've not been this excited about a new album for ages and I buy lots of new records every month. I'm just praying, the same as you, that it won't be their last one, and that we will see another in the future.
Great stuff and a non-mover at number 45 this week isn't bad. Probably down to people hearing the new songs during the current tour.
I saw them in Glasgow and it was the best gig of my life. Wish I could see them again before the tour ends.
Word of mouth is one of the strongest ways to promote an album. It lets people form an opinion from more reliable sources than radio ads or biased promotion by distributors. QPR have played to packed venues last week in UK so I'm sure there has been tons of word mouth going on around. The Cosmos Rocks should have a second wind in the charts due to these concerts but it didn't happen in the end. Packed venues were their way of promoting themselves but if no better sales came out from that, it simply meant that people (even many fans) didn't care. It's as simple as that.
Over-promoting a product that doesn't appeal to Joe Public ends looking as nothing more than hype.
Promotion can make people buy something. For example, I bought Kaiser Chiefs because of the song Ruby. Just wanted to listen to it another time. All the rest is crap and Ruby as well.
