My apologies if this is a repeat topic - but the search function is not cooperating. I'm trying to figure out the various lyrical references from "No one but you". I see some in the verse Roger sings, but wonder what else is there that I don't see. I'm not that great a resource for all things Queen or Mercury so I thought I'd ask for help. My guesses are in the brackets. A hand above the water An angel reaching for the sky Is it raining in Heaven - Do you want us to cry? And everywhere the broken-hearted On every lonely avenue No-one could reach them No-one but you One by one Only the Good die young They're only flyin' too close to the sun And life goes on - Without you... Another Tricky Situation [It's a Hard Life] I get to drownin' in the Blues And I find myself thinkin' Well -what would you do? Yes! -it was such an operation Forever paying every due [WATC] Hell, you made a sensation [My melancholy blues "I'm causing a mild sensation"] You found a way through -and One by one Only the Good die young They're only flyin' too close to the sun We'll remember - Forever... And now the party must be over I guess we'll never understand The sense of your leaving Was in the way it was planned And so we grace another table And raise our glasses one more time There's a face at the window And I ain't never, never sayin' goodbye... One by one Only the Good die young They're only flyin' too close to the sun Cryin' for nothing Cryin' for no-one No-one but you |

I think the 'drownin' in the blues' lyric refers to the Titanic. That is, the passengers drowning in the icy cold water. The 'flying too close to the sun' lyric is a direct reference to Princess Diana driving too close to the wall of the tunnel. |

A hand above the water [cover of Made In Heaven] An angel reaching for the sky Is it raining in Heaven - [obviously Made In Heaven, or maybe even Rain Must Fall] Do you want us to cry? And everywhere the broken-hearted [Too Much Love Will Kill You] On every lonely avenue No-one could reach them [Reaching Out] No-one but you One by one Only the Good die young They're only flyin' too close to the sun [Spread Your Wings] And life goes on - Without you... Another Tricky Situation [It's a Hard Life] I get to drownin' in the Blues [Rock in Rio Blues] And I find myself thinkin' Well -what would you do? Yes! -it was such an operation Forever paying every due [We Are The Champions] Hell, you made a sensation [My melancholy blues] You found a way through -and One by one [Just One Life] Only the Good die young They're only flyin' too close to the sun [Spread Your Wings] We'll remember - Forever... [Who Wants To Live Forever] And now the party must be over [Party] I guess we'll never understand The sense of your leaving [Leaving Home Ain't Easy] Was in the way it was planned And so we grace another table And raise our glasses one more time [Old Friends] There's a face at the window [Keep Passing The Open Windows] And I ain't never, never sayin' goodbye... One by one Only the Good die young They're only flyin' too close to the sun [Spread Your Wings] Cryin' for nothing Cryin' for no-one No-one but you Obviously. |

"A hand above the water" is clearly a reference to the end of Friday The 13th part I. That would have looked great in the video. |
