Hi there, guys! Well, what can I say? Yet again the boys did it! What an amazing time my wife and I had last night at the CIA gig. Musically, I thought they were excellent. Paul, where as very good, did seem to strain a little and did not seem 'on form' so to speak. Don't get me wrong, this is not a criticism but there were occasions where some words were left out of songs, just so he could catch his breath and some of the notes were not hit. He has sounded a lot better, CIA 2005, Sheffield 2005 and Hyde Park 2006 for example. The set-list was excellent. I think "Surf's Up... School's Out" is one of the weaker tracks on the new album and I was desperate to hear "Time To Shine" but live, it sounded brilliant. I bet the new album tracks will all sound better live, going by last nights viewing. A bit like "Hot Space" back in the day. All in all, the good points :- - Intro to the show was great - Roger Taylor's drum solo with the kit increasing all the time - Roger singing "A Kind Of Magic" - Brian's guitar solo, with "Bijou" and the haunting sound of Freddie's voice over the speakers. Also the disco ball and lights were stunning. - "I Want It All", "Love Of My Life", "39" and "Say It's Not True" - Montreal footage instead of Wembley - The band as a whole and the entire music - The crowd were fantastic and the atmosphere was electrifying - The boys interaction with the crowd was wonderful - Paul nearly knocking out Mr. May while mis-throwing his mike stand (Lol! Sorry, Brian) Here are the bad points :- - More song variety (wishful thinking I know) - Desperately wanted to here "Time To Shine" and "Small" from the new album - Without sounding unfair, Paul's vocals/voice had a bit of an off night but were still good - No air conditioning. I was sweating like a smack head in a chemist - £3.90 for a bottle of Carlsberg - Being ever so close to catching Roger's drumstick but missed out... GUTTED!!! - When the amazing concert/night ended :-( - Making a tit of myself when I thought I spotted a Queenzone member, 'its_a_hard_life' (I do not know her but recognised her from pictures) and I shouted "Hi there! You are 'its_a_hard_life' from Queenzone!" The look she gave me as it was not her, well, my wife was in stitches and I looked a complete dick! Brian was very complimentary about Cardiff and Wales and all of them seem to love playing here. My wife asked me do I think Brian says that in every gig he goes to to please the crowd? I gave an honest answer and said that maybe he does but one thing I do know, is that the twice we have seen them in Cardiff, they have seemed more up for it, giving it their all and genuinely loving the crowd, even more so than they did for the Sheffield concert/DVD! I just feel that Cardiff is just one of the places that give them an outstanding reception, which brings the best out of them. I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who was there last night, because being part of a magnificent crowd was a real pleasure and privilege. I was chuffed to bits that we gave the boys the reception they thoroughly deserved. If the boys ever get to read this, Cardiff love you, Wales love you and we dearly hope you come back and create even more wonderful memories for us all, because you are more than welcome in the Valleys at anytime!!! Thank you for an outstanding time, lads, all the very best for the rest of the Tour!!! |

The crowd played an important part in this fantastic night's entertainment.!!! An absolute pleasure to be there as they say although the prive of a beer at £3.90 was taking the piss! |

Unfortunately I was not at the O2 gig, hun and very regrettably I will not be going to any of the other concerts on the tour this time... ABSOLUTELY GUTTED!!! :-( On the last tour, I saw the boys at the CIA and Hyde Park. On each occasion they have been excellent but my God, Hyde Park still remains the best and I personally do not think they will ever top it. I am sure you also went to Hyde Park, its_a_hard_life, as I think I remember reading your posts on it before. I don't know about you but Paul's vocals were top notch, Brian and Roger were on top form, the music was outstanding, the crowd were electrifying, the weather was glorious, the beer was lovely, Razorlight were good and my favourite comedian, Peter Kay was excellent. That day/concert was magically perfect and I am gutted they have not released it on DVD or CD. One of the very best days of my life and a memory that will live on with my wife and I. On a separate note... I REALLY WANTED ROGER'S DRUMSTICK!!! :-( |
