1.) While being their biggest of two number one hits in the USA, not only was it by far their biggest single at it's time on the charts in their USA releases, but the biggest in the USA by anyone that year, but whyoh why do they still play Another One Bites The Dust on tour? Paul Rodgers doesn't work very well with the song, it's not that BIG a euro hit, it's not a live thriller of a track, and above all is that I know by reports I read and assume are true that Roger HATES playing that song according to one of his quotes. I don't see why they need to play it at all, but especially in Europe while touring and not playing Under Pressure or Innuendo, 2 number one British hits that topped AOBTD easily. 2.) Why is it that they play the 2 singles naturally(C-Lebrity, Say It's Not True) and then beyond that 3 songs which in some order I would rank easily as one, two and three as the easy picks for worst 3 other songs on the album(Cosmos Rockin, We Believe, Surf's Up)? No Small, no Through The Night, no Call Me, no Still Burnin, no Some Things That Glitter, no choice beyond the 3 wrong ones to pick. 3.) Why oh why did they start the tour off with a great opening choice of a new hit song which Paul does great with, One Vision being the song, and then they quickly dump it for the normal, not the great slow version Paul does so well, the normal version of Hammer to Fall?? 4.) Why are Paul's only old songs Seagull, Bad Company and ALL Right Now? I love the fewer Paul songs and would be fine with zero tracks from his old catalogue, but Seagull?? 5.) Here is the obvious question, "Why is My Bijou the only new track from Queen's catalogue added from last tour? Furthermore, why does Brian feel it necessary to use the time for the track by taking it out of his Brighton Rock solo time-length? It kind of spoils our one real treat. 6.) Why do they choose to frequently slide songs around in order rather than add/delete different songs into the fray? |

Well it's patently clear they forgot to consult you before embarking on this tour and are now paying the price for not heeding your advice. |

I agree with that one. Not only they are the worst- they are REALLY CRAP... I cannot believe they are playing WE BELIEVE and than follow that with GUITAR SOLO... That's 20 minutes that could be used SOOO much better... Myself, I find sth else strange. They were changing things around in Europe- dropping songs, playing new songs. Now- when they play in UK, some of the cities being quite close to each other (Manchester, Nottingham, Birmingham and even Liverpool)- they are playing THE VERY SAME THINGS... Now- when quite a lot of people are going to more than one show... hmmm... I wouldn't mind if NOW they through in WARBOYS or TIME TO SHINE or... RUNAWAY or SMALL anyone? Last time they were in UK- we had sth new almost every gig- in Manchester it was UNDER PRESSURE, in Birmingham they did AOBTD (and I disagree that it doesn't work- I love it!), WISHING WELL was really new back then (if I remember correctly they played it for the first time in Hamburg, about a week before UK), in Ireland they added yet another song (FIRE AND WATER)... I miss that!!! I also miss more Paul Rodgers songs. Seriously. I gave up any hope they will play IT'S LATE or WHITE MAN or FLICK OF THE WRIST- no, those guys have been promoting Platinum Collection for too many years, it's not going to change. Fine. But I really, honestly think they could mess around a bit with Paul's catalogue. As much as I love SEAGULL and BAD COMPANY- I was co excited wjhen they played SHOOTING STAR- I wanted that song back in 2004, when they just announced the tour! How about FIRE AND WATER? THE STEALER? MR BIG? There is so much wanderful stuff there- they could easily make those gigs just this little bit interesting if they rotate one of those songs around- those or anything else to be honest... Just a little bit, to make it interesting... By now I feel like i KNOW what they are going to play... In 2005 it was a bit more exciting- it was far from a rolling setlist but... better... |

1 - No idea, I think AOBTD sucks :) Not really a typical Queen song and definitely not that popular in Europe, compared to North America. 2 - They play Surf's Up, Cosmos Rockin and We Believe because Surf's Up is the best song on TCR, Cosmos Rockin' is the second best song and We Believe is the third best song. It's the best choice they could have done, I absolutely LOVE those songs. 3 - One Vision is boring, it was the opener already back in 1986. Hammer To Fall or TYMD are not the best choice either. Surf's Up was THE perfect intro, I loved every second of it! Hopefully it will be back soon. 4 - No idea - I'd prefer Shooting Star instead of Seagull though. 5 - It's Bijou, not My Bijou (I noticed some people write it wrong all the time for some reason). No idea about the answer though, ask Brian :-) [edit] Took me 20 minutes to write this... because this shitty editor/forum seems to support only certain browsers. Dammit! Richard, for god's sake... don't sleep and repair at least SOME of the bugs :-) |

One of the oddest things to me is the impossible chance that Brian and Roger are not sick to death of playing these same songs, and so they do so for reasons they mention to be a task required on their end to play these familiar and known hits so that they do not dissapoint all those fans coming out to see a Queen concert with the understood rule that certain songs will be heard. They don't want to dissapoint their fans by skipping a classic live number embedded into their concert sets. My issue here is that this is NOT Queen, but Queen + Paul Rodgers, and so you'd think that those rules are somewhat expelled since there is no traditional place for a Paul vocals version of a Queen classic, and so anything they do at all should have a relative sense of original undertaking, thus recreating each song they play through Paul's vocalization. Furthermore, WHO IN THE WORLD is so casual a Queen fan as to be willing to see Queen + Paul Rodgers with a sense of hope that they hear We Are The Champions weighing equal or greater to the sheer delight of actual surprise with something like It's Late or White Man or some other great album track?? Are there really casual fans buying tickets who only own the Greatest Hits I and II cd's without any albums beyond those compilations?? Are there really people willing to pay good money for a tour featuring an alternate vocalist who aren't die hard fans in at least a 90% majority overall?? Only the real fans are likely to come, and speaking as a real fan I am charged with this tour's Bijou track far and above all else they have played, just as last tour's Dragon Attack, Teo Torriate, and especially I Was Born To Love You easily were the peak moments for me. Just to be accurate, I Want It All, Hammer to Fall(slow), Days of Our Lives, and The Show Must Go On were just as thrilling the first time because they too were newly performed live tracks. So my point is this: Wouldn't the band AND the audience BOTH be happier with a more album track based setlist, mixing a small percentage of those "MUST PLAY" hits with at least an equal portion of surprise songs from the past. Not only would they probably have a more interesting tour in front of them, not only would the TRUE fans be given a jaw dropping gift, but the songs they select could be chosen on the basis of live strength, comfortable union into Paul's talents and their vocal mixture working best with one song to the next. I'm sure 1 or 2 of you have heard of Adam Ant and his music. Well when he toured way back in '95, he not only played all my favorite album tracks with an equal or lesser number of his hits, actually skipping big hits I assumed he'd play but couldn't care less after he played the album favorites I liked in place of them, but he actually performed not 1 but 2, FREAKING TWO B-Sides, including the freaking encore. Could you imagine a Queen show where Paul started singing 'I go Crazy' and then later Roger performs 'Hijack My Heart' and 'Human Body"????? I'd piss my pants right on the spot and if I owned it on dvd, it would be a year before I quit playing that show rather than an old 'traditional' set. Sorry to yammer on, but it's just so frustrating to see a tour set list that is a bit longer than last time, has fewer Paul songs, and yet isn't even as good as the last because it's practically the same thing minus 5 minutes of Brighton solo, plus Bijou, and playing additionally the songs I least care about hearing out of all those on the new album. Greatest Hits is just that... HITS. I want to hear the Greatest Misses. And in closing, it will be a slap in the face if they go to Japan again next year and give them the 2 to 3 little extras that made Asia the brightest spot of the last tour a couple of years back. |

Interesting points made here. Firstly, I agree that it's strange that there aren't more new songs on the tour, maybe being rotated if they didn't want too many in each show. The biggest crime is Small being omitted. Really can't understand that. It's a great song. I also really like Time To Shine and would have thought that would be really good live. they've done it once I think, but maybe it didn't go down too well. Anyone see that one? Voodoo probably would've been good too I think. I really like Through The Night and while it might not be everyone's favourite, I think that they could have done some really good lighting etc to go with these blusier/slower numbers. I agree that Brian could sacrifice his solo to include more new stuff. Maybe just do the bijou thing (I like it - nice touch) and Last Horizon. I know some people like his Brighton Rock solo, but its not quite as good as it used to be, and we do have several official releases to wallow in. However, I think I have to disagree with whoever said that it is only hard core fans coming to the shows. I don't think they'd be doing 2 O2 gigs, one Wembley Arena etc if it was just the hard core. The first benefit concert was free, and for a cause, but still, there were SO many people there! I think there must be lots of GH1/2/3 only owners coming. Look at the crowds at the gigs. you can't know for sure, but I find it hard to believe they are all "real" fans. BUT, having said that, there's a lot of singing along to LOML, IILWMC, '39 and cheers for Bijou (maybe 'cause it's just Freddie in it?), so maybe us hard core are all going to multiple concerts? But still hard to believe that there are 20000 hard core fans willing to go to 3 London concerts. But if it's not all hard core, then I can understand that they're still doing the GH1/2/3 material. Although they have many failings in things like compilation releases, ticket ballots etc, I think one thing QPL/Queen Touring ltd know now is about the shows and how to maximise return from them. They would never do it (they seem to want to do the biggest arenas they can), but it would be so good if they did another Crazy Tour type thing where they did small gigs and did all the old stuff/album tracks that people have mentiond on here. They could do that as just Brian and Roger. If with Paul, then they could do more of the new stuff. It does seem ironic and a little hypocritical that Roger says he doesn't want to be his own tribute band. Well, four new tracks isn't enough. They really are their own tribute, aren't they? I don't mind that, as I still LIKE the old stuff, but it would be good to see them do something different and put their artistry where their mouth is. I'm not "having a go" as I like the new album and I've enjoyed the 2 gigs (Nottingham and O2), but I would like to see them do something "different". Take a chance. These tours aren't really a risk, are they? So lets petition for Crazy Tour II!!! |

Though I am looking forward to once again seeing QPR, I am not very excited over the set list. Though somewhat off topic, here's a set list which I think would suit Paul and the boys: "What planet is this?" intro Now I'm Here Surf's Up... School's Out! Dragon Attack Shooting Star Some Things That Glitter Teo Torriatte '39 Love Of My Life Brian solo Fight From The Inside* Roger solo Say It's Not True Bohemian Rhapsody It's Late Time To Shine** We Will Rock You We Are The Champions *Replacing I'm In Love With My Car and with Roger on vocals, of course. **Replacing TSMGO |

Good point - like the 'official' set lists on Brian's site that have "Fat Bottom Girls" and "It's A Kind of Magic" listed - drives me mad!!! |

There are a lot more mistakes on the official setlists :-) I'd be curious to know who writes them. The band? The crew? |

I remember once when I said I was going to see Queen on 3 consecutive nights "Won't you be bored with the same setlist each night" - that was way back in 1984. They only changed Sheer Heart Attack in the encore!! If you want rolling set lists and a fantastic gig go and see Bruce Springsteen. 3 hour shows and superb performance. I thought I'd done my homework on Bruce before the gig but he came up with a track I didn't expect. |

Through The Night and Small are the two best songs in the record, so it's difficult to understand why they don't do those songs. Besides in an interview prior to Ucranian show, Brian said they would play all the cd, but not in Kharkov ('cause they never had been played there). They already did a tour based in the greatest hits (Return of...) So it would be better to focus the set list in the last Queen albums like The miracle, Innuendo or Made in heaven, combined with The Cosmos. I think it would be nice... Cheers. |
