As wonderful as it is to hear how much Brian loves "The Italian Way Of Life", if he is so disappointed in London and loves Milan so much, why doesn't he just go and fucking live there himself?
If Brian were to look outside of his closed off world for a minute, he could make his way across London to, virtually, anywhere, and still see people holding hands and not having mobile phone conversations in restaurants. As for the city's skyline, what's he going to say to New Yorkers when he gets there? The reason Milan hasn't got any is because there is no need for them to be there - it's not through some romanticised CHOICE by the Milanese people as much as Brian would love to believe.
No wonder England is turning out to be a place people think twice about visitin now, when you have high-profile ambassadors like His Excellency Dr May extolling the virtues of his home town the way he does.
Good on ya Brian - you'll to the tourism economy the power of good!
I wouldn't get so upsetabout it if Iwere you, I don't know if you're from London or not but I doubt Dr. Mays opinion is going to damage the tourist industry. I for one am attracted by the hustle and bustle of big cities so it wouldn'tput me off. Infact I'm going to London in February and looking forward to it, believe it or not to see We Will Rock You.
I think everyone knows that the European continental lifestyle is much more laid back than the British, not to say any better just more laid back. If I'm not mistaken th British have the longest working week in Europe etc so its not something to be criticised. I'm sure Brian was just expressing a random thought he was having and he likes to share these thoughts with us, rather than bashing his home town which I'm sure he loves dearly.
And as you said its easy rich people like Brian to have this romantic view of the world, whillst the rest of us struggle to make a living daily. But thats just his reality which I'm sure you will aggree is vastly differant to Joe publics reality
The issue I have with him is that he has such a LARGE fan base that is continental European. If he's as influential as many people here believe and even one person reads that and thinks, "Hmmm, London sounds like a terrible place; let's go to Milan!".........
