Just came back from the show Same setlist as yesterday with Feel Like Making Love instead of Time To Shine I had great seats and the sound was excellent (yeah Trip!) so I was in the best conditions to enjoy an amazing show ! It’s one thing to whine about the lack of rarities in the set when you’re in front of your computer, and another to EXPERIENCE the show, believe me! Surf’s Up was a killer, tight and crisp. Then came TYMD and the "Medley" : what might look lame on paper is in fact a very efficient Greatest Hits fest, with Paul sounding very much at ease on Dust and I Want To Break Free, which is one of Queen’s biggest hits in France, like it or not! C-Lebrity went fairly well, Seagull was politely listened to and then the A Night At The Opera section was magnificent, with Brian moved to tears on Love Of My Life and a roaring version of I’m In Love With My Car with Roger hitting some of the high notes. Say It’s Not True was a pleasant surprise with the three guys sticking close together on the small stage, really looking and sounding like a band. Then again the tension lowered a little during the Paul section, in spite of a beautiful Bad Company. Brian’s solo was inspired and slick, and Bijou worked very well. It was the moment I expected the most, and it was really emotional. The last salva of hits hit the mark, with a thunderous version of TSMGO carried by 15.000 fans singing their hearts out on the chorus. Bo Rhap was overwhelming as always, Montreal is a much better choice for the Freddie tape and back in 2005, the effect was spoiled by some out of synch playing. Encores were very strong with Cosmos Rocking keeping the arena standing and dancing and a powerful finishing trio of ARN, WWRY and WATC. Paul sang extremely well, he gave it all out so much he lost a bit of his voice from TSMGO (but nothing to be concerned about IMO). You can like his style or not, but he’s one hell of a vocalist. Tonight there was also minimal lyrics fluffing and monitor staring, so way to go Paul! Roger played and sang like it was 1981 all over again, and Brian was great, nailing the solos and even singing smoothly during his acoustic spotlight. He may have been moody and hitting bum notes in Belgium, but certainly not tonight! The audience, which was obviously a majority of Joe Publics, went nuts, which is quite an achievement as a Queen show without Freddie is hard sell for the general public. As for me, a Queen fanatic, I was rocked, I was moved to tears at times, I was happy. Thank you Paul, Roger and Brian for keeping Queen alive. |

They are so damn good, and people who can't appreciate them for what they are because they're too busy damning them for not being what they obviously cannot be are missing out one something very special. The day is coming when these guys will not be playing these songs on this scale anymore, and a lot of you who just bitch bitch bitch are going to kick yourself in a few years - kick yourselves good. |

They'll be old and a friend will talk of how he saw Brian during the QPR era. The old anti-QPR guy will go pah whatever, but as he walks away he'll feel that tinge of sadness. "Damn, QPR wasn't that bad..why didn't I go see Brian and Roger when I had a chance?" |

Thanks to Fone Bone for taking time to review the concert in such a good way...... And to Ray D'O Gaga i agree. In 2005 i went to see the guys because i love the songs and yes it was awesome.... i got to see Queen with Freddie just once at Wembley stadium 1986 Magic tour and i will never forget the feelings i had to this day i was 19 years old and it was the best day of my life but those who choose to stick their heads in the sand and ignore this tour may never get another chance to see these wonderful performers doing what they do best. Lets enjoy what we have while we can - Paul is a great singer and i cant wait for my chance to see them.. once again thanks Fone Bone i'm happy for you.. you had a great night and got some great memories - good man |

This was the best concert I've ever experienced. Everything was great, everything was wonderful and it was great to see Brian, Paul and Roger (and Spike, Jamie and Danny) having lots of fun on stage. Playing around with each other and with their instruments. Really great cocnert :D |

Love to read such reviews like yours, "FriedChicken". Queen and Paul Rodgers is a great band and I really really hope that it's not their last such a big tour in Europe. I'd love them to make another album together..it would be great. Anyway we will see. Thay are not young we all know that. God bless them and let them play and be in good health as long as possible. I'm so happy that I could see them live and they had such a great time on stage. And they make that night unforgettable. I will never forget their concert and I hope to see them again one day. |

The setlist seems to become shorter and shorter. Can anyone say how long they played? |
Pim Derks 25.09.2008 10:20 |
They were on stage at about 20.15 - offstage at 22.30-22.40. |
Jazzy 25.09.2008 10:32 |
At least they played over 2 hours. Thanks for the prompt reply |

Sounds great, roll on Oct 11th and then Nov 4th!!!! I too was not lucky enough to see them in 86, was too young to go to Slane in my parents opinion. So 2005 was a dream come true but this looks even better and with new songs. Does it get any better than this? |

Thanks for review. Sounds like a great gig. I was in Paris in 2005 with my first time pregnant wife and we really enjoyed the enthusiam of the French crowd. Now 3 years on, I have 2 kids and think how the time has flown. Looking forward to O2 in London this time round and wish I had been at Paris too. Thanks again for fine review. Love from Ireland |

Thanks for the kind words Looking forward to reading YOUR reviews of the upcoming shows Instead of wishing for a rolling setlist of album tracks from the first five albums (not gonna happen) and Freddie being alive (not gonna happen either) we should bear in mind that : - I think it's fair to say that before QPR, we were all waiting for something to happen in the Queen world, other than the musical and Five or Robbie collaborations that is - Of course Freddie is sorely missed. He was the band's frontman and arguably its most talented songwriter. - Yet, QPR is IMHO a shining success because of a catalogue of songs perhaps only rivalled by the Beatles, some extremely high level musicianship by Paul, Brian and Roger, and some intensely emotional moments (LOML, IILWMC, Bijou, Bo Rhap) Let's enjoy it while we can ! |
