In another thread I made a joking reference to Traveling Wilburys... and it dawned on me.
Queen+Paul Rodgers are a blues/folk/classic rock supergroup. Traveling Wilburys were a blues/folk/classic rock supergroup.
Traveling Wilburys released their first album in 1988. Queen+Paul Rodgers released their first album in 2008.
Traveling Wilburys covered Runaway but only released it as a bonus. And now... Queen+Paul Rodgers covered Runaway but only released it as a bonus.
History has a way of repeating itself.
Traveling Wilburys was a supergroup consisting of George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan. The band recorded two albums during the two years they were together. link

argh ...
the wilburys were long time gone, when george died. roy wasn't substituted, although there were rumours regarding del shannon taking his place - but sadly he decided to die, too. hence the reason for recording runaway.
come on guys, this was only eighteen years ago!
Call Me is very Wilburys. I love the Wiblurys. They are my favorite supergroup of all-time except for QPR, maybe. I still like the Wilbury's overall contribution more, and I think they have the better Runaway.
The first album of The Traveling Wilburies was recorded in summer 1988. It was very good and won a Grammy when suddenly Roy Orbison died in December 1988. The second album, less successful, was put out in 1990.
The band is considered to have been a super group, that's right.

Here's an idea for a fun thread - whose cover of Runaway is the best! :D I can see Gary Allan fans cursing at The Misfits fans... ah, the Internet :D
EDIT: Oh, I realized the tone of this came across as attacking the original poster - not my intention! I'm glad the Wilburys are getting the respect they deserve!

I reckon there is something about Surfs Up that reminds me of a Tom Petty song. Not sure which one perhaps Runnin' Down a Dream. There is some uh uhing that reminds me of it.
