For the life of me, I cannot see who this album is for, unless there are Free fans who secretly wish the band had sounded more like Queen. Or what it’s for, other than to sell even more Queen albums. Isn’t Queen without Freddie like a Fab Four reunion without John and George? Could they not have called themselves - crap 1970s supergroup-style - May, Taylor & Rodgers? What are those butch We Will Rock You-like thunderclaps and chiming guitars on the otherwise routine Still Burnin’ other than opportunistic? Call Me’s Crazy Little Thing-recalling skiffle seems equally artful. As if we still aren’t getting the point, We Believe piles on the massed vocals. All this, and one of British blues-rock’s finest singers huffing and puffing platitudes over the top, when what you want is All Right Now and Another One Bites the Dust at full volume. Just not at the same time. link
