Ok, this still boggles me. Does anyone think it is yet another lost opportunity that they don't want to make a video for C-Lebrity or any other track? It is a NEW BAND and people need to know them, how they look, etc. Keep in mind that many casual music listeners hear "Queen" and think of a moustached gay icon from the 80's. I think Brian, Paul and Roger are looking great on their promo pics. They should push this image forward and in order to do this they need a video. I can certainly imagine them doing a video for C-Lebrity with the band looking down into the new "celebrities", (lack of) talent shows and that phenomena while looking cool themselves. I can also picture a cool video for Warboys, with the band walking through a desert or some kind of war zone, with clips from tanks, generals waging war, etc. Come on. Classic rock radio and their reputation is not enough to push a hit single, apart from the fan base being divided with this release. They COULD do it with a video, though. :S |

Why on Earth would they do a video? 1. Does anybody watch MTV for videos anymore? Last I checked, Road Rules or some shit was on 2. Wouldn't it be kinda funny watching some old farts "rock" on a video? You can rent Grumpy Old Men or Space Cowboys... 3. Who is going to be listening to QPR besides fans of Queen and Paul Rodgers? Sorry, no QPR stickers will be found on lockers at school. 4. They mailed it in for Made In Heaven... why would they do any different now? |

well in my opinion they should release a single with video also and maybe when they are on tour some new single might come out with live performance. |

Ok, so the music video is not the means to reach a market anymore. Certainly it is not as important as it was 6-8 years ago, I see your point. Maybe they should have done some viral marketing, but once again, that is only for hardcore fans and generate a little buzz here and there. So, there is no way for a group of old rockers to promote their albums anymore? They have absolutely no chance? Well, at least they had the Album Club and they are making digital releases as well :S. |

Did I miss something? Did Brian, Roger and Paul say they won't shoot a video? |
Jjeroen 04.09.2008 12:08 |
The Al Murray performance is their video. |

Who would want to see some around 60 years old rockers in a hip video???!! |
Wiley 04.09.2008 13:25 |
I know it's been many years now but I recall seeing videos of the Rolling Stones around '98-'99 and thinking "that's what Brian and Roger should be doing". Granted, yes, they are old, but with a good concept a video can work. They don't necessarily have to be on the screen the whole time. U2 still makes videos and they still feature prominently in music video channels, even if the space in these channels has been reduced due to reality TV and other crap. This is still an outlet to show your music and Queen are missing it yet again. If you say that the Al Murray performance is going to be their video, then so be it. Let's hope someone will want to play that. |

I have mixed feelings on this. I think it would be great to have a good video to go with their singles...but sadly times have changed and videos hardly get played any more. On the other hand - the new video for Metallicas new single is TERRIBLE and ruins what is actually quite a good song (Metallica bashers - aim and fire when ready). So maybe they are better off just letting the songs speak for themselves. I would guess 'back in the day' that Freddie was the creative driving force behind their wonderful videos. Without him now they'd probably lack that extra something. |

I would imagine that there must be at least two or three creative and somewhat successful video directors that would like to direct Queen's comeback video. Let's face it: performance videos that don't have anything else going on tend to be a bit boring :S. |

Why should we ask these 60'ish years old trio of legends to lipsync to some visual device glorifying their music which needs a pair of working ears, video not included. Should they have to put on some wardrobe, pose with their instruments all slick and pretend their rocking our world so that some younger people will give their ignorance a rest and pay attention to these exciting guys who wanna rock? Let them do things their way, let their music get eaten up by those who care. Let the media tools with taste support them with play, and let the US of A continue to ignore them and play Ice Ice Baby instead, before or after some cowboys sings about his sheep's not being together with him anymore. This supergroup has enough fans and younger people unaware of them need to expand their horizons or stay in their Blink 182 lives. Personally I hope they tell any marketing promotional request sent their way to ask Freddie and he'll tell them when they'll be around to do the little MTV dance. I HATE MTV and think it ruined music for 20 plus years. |

Not doing a video is missing a HUGE opportunity to connect with people....Sure many of us don't watch videos anymore being busy with work and the rest of our lives.....but MTV, Muchmusic, VH1 wouldn't be around if no one watched videos....my daughter wants to be glued to the tv watching videos...much like I was many years ago.....almost all other artists in all genres are doing videos....whether it is Motely Crue or Beyonce....there are a lot of young Queen fans due to Queen's huge influence on music....problem is that sometimes they don't know who sings We Will Rock You.......because the music is good it lives on.....not promoting doesn't help if they don't have a chance to see and hear it.... |

Agreed, I think they should make a video as well...that would give Jim Beach and Hollywood Records every resource they'd need to properly promote the album. From the samples I've heard thus far...If they made the effort to make a video or two, I really believe that this new album could stand up against other current music on both sides of the Atlantic. |

Not that I am a country music fan but the old and the new artist make videos, every band out these days tends to make a video--many folks, kids, dweebs do watch all the various music channels MTV2, VH1 Classic, FUSE, etc. I think this album will actually be noticed in NA |
QueenSite 05.09.2008 02:34 |
I think that the Ukraine show shooting would lift one or 2 videos. But I don't think they'll make proper studio videos |
timl 05.09.2008 08:07 |
sup right here we go they HAVE done a video because they know its going break the top 50 and if it does get any higher maybe top 10 as perdicted thats when some music channels (the box smash hits etc) have to play it thank you |
